Is it normal for a property agent to charge a deposit for viewing?

My friend is trying to book a slot to view rooms for rental and the agent is asking to pay an upfront fee of RM 250 which will be refunded after the viewing. Is this standard practice? Because sounds kinda fishy and we cant find any reviews of the agent.

Good benchmark for cost of owning a car?

Hey guys im considering taking over my moms car because she wants to get rid of it but I really like the car and feel it’s worth maintaining. Its a toyota yaaris. Whats an average percentage of income Malaysians generally spend on their car? For this car I’m estimating an overall average cost of RM 1.1-1.3k per month (installment for 2 more years + petrol and maintenance) which comes up to about 20% of my net take home income. Is this reasonable? For context I do not have any loan or other commitments, still live with parents just share bills with my other family members for now.

HR Person left the company halfway thru my recruitment?

Hi just wanted to see if anyone has any advice or had a similar experience. I applied for a role at an MNC, but not a very big one. So far I would say the process was going quite smooth, I did a HR interview and then an interview with a higher up in the HQ at Australia. After that I was told to do a psychometric test, and the final step would be another interview with a Partner also based in the HQ.

After finishing the test, I received no word from the HR for about a week, which I found weird because I was going through the previous rounds very quickly, so I emailed her to follow up. She said the Partner has been travelling a lot for business all this time, and would only return later next week (this week). So I said fair enough and gave it another week before following up again, this Friday, only to find out the HR person already left the company??

Her auto reply gave the email of another HR person from the Australian HQ, whom I emailed but it was already friday afternoon, so I'm waiting to hear from her. I'm a bit concerned my application can get 'lost' in the shuffle because of poor handover or whatever. How pushy do you guys think it is acceptable to be here? Do you think adding the higher up who interviewed me and messaging on linkedin if I dont hear from HR would be out of line? Or do you guys think I'm cooked here.

HR person left halfway through my recruitment process?

Hi guys just wanted to share what has been a somewhat frustrating experience and see if anyone has any advice for me or had a similar encounter.

I applied for a role in a consulting firm. They're not the biggest company but they work with some pretty high-profile clients. Seemed like a good balance. Anyway, I had gone through an interview with a HR lady, lets call her Maria, and another one with a higher up who works at the company's HQ. I was also asked to do a psychometric test after the 2 interviews (which was hell in and of itself). Throughout all this, my point of contact was Maria, who told me the next and final stage would be an interview with the company's Partner.

After completing the test, I received no communication from Maria for about a week, which I found strange considering I was advancing through all the previous stages very quickly, so I dropped her an email asking for an update, and she told me that the Partner has been travelling for business a lot and will only be back end of next week (this week), and that she's followed up with him and is awaiting his response. It should be noted that she still hasn't actually confirmed that I'm in the next stage, just that the person who would be conducting the interview if I did has been away.

Anyway I thought fair enough and gave it another week, and sent another follow-up email just after the timeline Maria herself gave, only to find out that she had left the company! Her auto reply said to contact this other HR person but she's based in the company's HQ in another country. I did email her but it was on a Friday and already in the afternoon in their timezone, so she hasn't gotten back to me.

I'm kinda worried my application is gonna be forgotten about at this rate, or if I'm being taken for a ride. It would just be really frustrating to come this far and not get a clear yes or no, or lose out due to some HR admin limbo. How pushy do you think it would be acceptable for me to be here? Would messaging the higher up who interviewed me on Linkedin sometime next week if I dont hear from HR be out of line?
