Buried at Goodwill

Looking for an ironing board for my daughter’s college apartment and decided to flip through the art really quick. At the back was this that immediately caught my eye. “Pat” is short for Patricia, an abstract artist of some renown. Not sure what the name or the series is, though. Needs a bit of TLC in a few places where the canvas was leaning against something at some points, but otherwise, it’s in great shape. Love finding original art (and not “decor”) like this!

$8.99? Please!

Local thrift store, employee carrying this past me to the toy section. I immediately stopped her and said “Sold!” Pretty sure there’s not a complete set, but it has a lot of vintage mini figs and definitely the skeleton of the old pirate ship set. Not familiar with the boat set and will research to get find out.

Possibly Native American

Found these at a thrift store and bought because I like the colors and style, but am wondering if they’re Native American. I’ve seen details like the ones on the bottom piece on other NA jewelry, so I thought maybe? They aren’t marked except for the 925 on each.

Help me bring this back to life!

Saw this at a local thrift store in great shape except for the paint. Why?!?!? I’m sure it was beautiful unfinished. Original hardware; one small crack on the back that isn’t too deep; only thing is that one of the legs is a little wobbly and needs to be secured better. Obviously the paint needs to be stripped but I want to try to do as little sanding as possible. Anybody have any advice as to the best way to remove the paint? Once I do, I can access the finish and decide what the next step would be.

I have questions

Found this for $5 at a thrift store, probably priced that way because it’s so beat up…BUT when I looked at it closer, it’s almost as if the scratches are in the carbon build-up and not the pan itself. The last picture kind of shows that. If it IS down to the metal, they aren’t deep scratches. Question 1: do you guys think it’s down to the metal? Question 2: if it is, how difficult do you think it would be to buff them out? Question 3: what’s the best way to buff something like this out? I’ve restored pans with rust and/or carbon build-up, but none have needed any kind of buffing so I’m completely green in that regard. It’s an older Lodge 10 inch #8 that is in good condition otherwise. Just crazy how scratched it is. Never seen anything like it. How the heck were they treating this pan? Poor thing.

$16.99

Should I get it? Pontil isn’t rough but it’s not polished to where it’s smooth with the rest of the bottom. The blue detail has some iridescence to it too.

Hiding in plain sight…

Saw this lovely coral Hampton in the case at a local thrift store I frequent a week ago but was crunched for time and there was too long of a check out line so I had to leave it behind. Didn’t expect it to be there today when I dropped donations off, but I got lucky! Only $29.99. Some wear on a couple corners and a few cosmetic issues but overall, it’s in great shape! Thinking of sending it off to be reconditioned. The second bag I got at different area thrift store a couple months ago. Just a sucker for vachetta. Has what I think is some water damage but in my opinion, it just adds to the patina that I expect from this leather. Had to share!

Looking for info

Since the USSR ended in 1991, I can safely say that this piece was made before that time, but that’s about all I can say concerning it. Google comes up with nothing to help identify - a search on USSR crystal comes up with mostly ornate cut glass pieces and nothing like this - so any help is greatly appreciated!

Rehab help

Found a Taiwanese-made sauce pan (with a raised heat ring, which is interesting) at the thrift store for $10 and since I wanted it for cooking, not collecting, I picked it up. The pan itself is in good shape, but the lid has spots of on both seat, top, and bottom that need to be treated. Any advice on how to rehab without a lot of work? Really don’t wanna have to do any sanding but will if necessary. Also, the lid is not original to the pan as the pan is a 1 and the lid is a 2. It also doesn’t seem to made the same way. Google wasn’t really any help, so if anyone has idea on the manufacturer, let me know. Thanks!

Cool black glass lamp

Found this at a local thrift for $10. It’s solid glass - not lucite - and works. Would love to know more about it. Tried all the standard research options and nothing was a perfect match. It’s so architectural in style that I wonder if it the maker was inspired rby that or modern art or both. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Trying to find a shade that matches the vibe!

Help!

Bought this fantastic nautical clock at a thrift store. Paid $5 for it. Wondering about the maker and also need to replace the movement on it as the one on it does not work. I’m sure it’s not original to the clock anyway. Any suggestions on a good one for it or ideas as to where I might get a replacement that was made for this model specifically. I’d like to restore it to as much of the OG parts as possible. Also, should I leave the brass like it is as I think it adds to the charm or try to polish it up?

Fun find

I’m not super knowledgeable about marbles but I’m learning more through this community for sure! Thought I’d share these. Was in a flea market yesterday in Amsterdam and saw these. Immediately inquired about the price (5€) and handed over the coins. I so want to take them out but I know that decreases the value so I’m just admiring them through the packaging. Any body want to share info on them, I’d love to hear your thoughts!

ID help?

Picked this up last second as I was walking to a register at the thrift store and didn’t see any signature or marking, but I didn’t check it out very closely as I was in a hurry. When I got home, I saw the circles on the bottom. Some sort of signature or maker’s mark, I would think but I don’t know who. Any info would be appreciated!

This lamp has been at a little antique/vintage store in Waynesville, North Carolina that I frequent when I’m up there at a home that I own, for a couple of months. Every time I’d go in, I’d look at it and think “SO pretty. That would look great in the house.” (It’s in the mountains north of Canton), but I’d always left it behind for whatever reason. Then I posted on this sub if I should go back and buy it, and got an overwhelming response that yes I should. So I did! It’s so pretty on my desk, overlooking my deck and the trees. The last pictures are of the lamp in the store for comparison to what it is now. I can’t get any info on who made it or where it comes from although it does have Japanese writing on it so I have to think that’s the country of origin, but if anybody has any clue, I’d greatly appreciate the info! I’m not convinced that’s the right shade, but I already had it and it was better than the one one there. It’s really not too bad.
