I can't get myself to work

I have a tight two-week deadline to finish a few side contracts, and the workload is massive but I absolutely cannot bring myself to start.

I’m technically on vacation from my day job, which is exactly why I took on this extra work. However, being stuck inside all day has completely stalled my productivity, grinding it to a total halt. Normally, I have no problem coming home from my 9-to-5 and doing extra work at my desk. But now that I am home all day, I can't seem to physically force myself to do anything. I thought about going to a cafe, but money is tight right now. I also considered a library, but I can never focus there because the constant movement of people around me is too distracting.

Before my vacation started, I had this ideal vision of sitting in bed, working all day with reality TV playing in the background (it sounds strange, but it actually helps me focus). I was honestly looking forward to it. Instead, I caught a minor summer cold, and now I’m just trapped in bed doing nothing.

Does anyone have any insight or productivity tips that work for you in situations like this? I would appreciate any advice you can share.

Should I tell my friend everything his ex said about him when they broke up?

Important detail : I do genuinely despise his ex. She made my life difficult after I just lost a parent and it was truly extremely difficult to grieve and move on from that. I do feel like I'm not being fully impartial here which is why I'm coming here for advice.

To give you an idea, this girl once got fired for lying about someone for attention (she admitted it). She did it to me a few times, and the last time she ever did anything like that towards me was at a job I got her while I was away on an internship because it was clear we weren't going to talk anymore (she said I was aggressive physically and verbally and that simply never happened - even our third roommate took my side in the story). I also found out a year later that everyone in her uni's department hated her for taking a guy she had a crush on's side after he physically abused a 17 yo girl in spite of the proofs pointing towards him being the aggressor.

So anyways. Not the best person ever. But I just reconnected with her ex, who I used to be super close to and we once all lived together up until they broke up and he moved out. In his memory, he feels like he's the one who did wrong in the situation but I remember things differently. Just like she did with me the moment we stopped being friends, she tried to tarnish his reputation with everyone we had in common. She slept with his best friend, she told everyone he had mental problems and that he was abusive, etc.

And that's what I'm struggling with. When they broke up, his mom shared a very personal detail about him that she never even told him, and this girl told everyone. Not only that, but I remember then thinking that she was the one who was the most abusive in this relationship (manipulative, fake tears and shouting at him when he was being nice to me because she felt like he was ignoring her, etc.)

Now, he asked me what she did that was so bad (he thinks the things she did to me were bad but clearly not enough to change his mind about her and I'm trying to be mature and not convince him to hate her just based on what she did to me but I'm not perfect and it's hard. Still, because I hate talking about this I told him I would tell him once we have more time to sit and really rehash things, but now I'm wondering if I did the right thing. I've noticed he's aware of the private thing his mom told my friend then, but I'm not sure he knows his mom kind of went behind his back and that his ex told literally every body and used it to justify why he was abusive and crazy. Should I tell him the truth or keep it to myself?

TL; DR: should I tell my friend about all the nasty things his manipulative ex said about him when they broke up because he asked and I don't want to lie to him on her behalf at this point?

I gained 50 pounds in two years and I'm only managing to lose it now

I never figured out how it happened. I (30F) turned 30 last fall and had a massive wake up call.

I gain weight pretty evenly, so my first indicator was my clothes. Once I started to notice even XL didn't fit me after wearing nothing but M or S my whole life, I felt like I had hit a wall. I finally saw what I really looked like, and I was stunned. I didn't eat all that much. I walked to and from work every day, but I did have a pretty sedentary lifestyle and was depressed quite a lot (still am lol but what can you do). Still, I went to the gym and did the best I could do, but not even that worked.

The thing is, until now I always managed to lose weight quickly. I would just go on a light diet, and that was enough; but not anymore.

For a full year I tried to lose weight the same way I used to and it never worked out. The only thing that did is intermittent fasting. I lost about 10 pounds in the last two months or so doing nothing but that and sometimes even OMAD.

I get anxious because I have never been this heavy before, and I know weight loss slows down usually. If not even the gym works, if IF or OMAD stops working I'm not sure what I'll do.

Has anyone had a similar experience with weight loss?

Unhealthy habits

You know that feeling when you understand life kinda sucks... and you drink and smoke alone, and have a messy lifestyle, add maybe a touch of vodka in your coffee in the morning to survive the day, but you still have to go to work in the morning like everything is fine?

Get ready for the hate bandwagon

I know there are plenty of legitimate reasons to be upset with HYBE right now. However, as an adult in this fandom, the intense hate directed toward Sakura and the other girls makes me extremely uncomfortable.

I really don't want this community to turn into the Katseye subreddit. While we can't control the internet as a whole, this space is still very new. We have a unique opportunity right now to establish a more peaceful, less hateful environment.

To be clear: I am not saying we should ban legitimate criticism. Constructive feedback is fine. But pure hate is an entirely different story.

Since this group and this community are just getting started, let's actively try to cultivate a positive culture. We shouldn't be bullying or insulting these girls, especially the teenagers, or tearing down their abilities. They are just starting out and still learning how to navigate this massive industry machine. Let's do better guys...
