Could this be?

The only watch collection you’d need? Spirit Pilot 39 the Grand Seiko SBGX261? I find myself constantly keeping these 2 in rotation more so than any divers or field watches I own. What are y’all’s thoughts?

u/gambitrose — 1 day ago

The stunning simplicity…

Had to take a pic of the SBGX261 as Golden Hour sets. This watch is still, by far one of my absolute favorites. Never thought I’d be a 37mm watch wearer as I have always owned bigger watches (39-49mm) but this one holds a very special place in my love for watches. Quartz or not, this thing is so simple, and beautiful.

Honestly.

This is just about all you need for a good watch collection. These 2 are in my constant rotation more so that any other watches I own. These BB41 (Metas) and Spirit Pilot 39. Outstanding watches for accuracy, looks, feel, and build.

By far..

One of my favorite combos, both watch AND strap wise. The leather cuff bracelet on my Spirit 39 elevates the fuck out of it for sure! I wanna see some other strap options for that model. Please post in comments!

Can’t go wrong..

With a bad ass Nato OR Mesh for this beauty. My Spirit Pilot 39 is so versatile and SUCH a fucking strap monster! Which one would you rock with it out of the 2?

Spirit Pilot 39mm

Absolute banger of a watch. I have a Black Sailcloth strap attached to it and it looks perfect in my humble opinion. It’s crazy how many times I’ve heard this watch is comparable to the Tudor Ranger, AND the Rolex Explorer. Honestly, I am leaning more towards the Explorer the more I think about it. What are your thoughts? Also, what other straps would look good on this?

Bracelet comparison between Tudor Ranger 39mm and the Spirit Pilot 39mm.

Honestly, these are both so good. As I have mentioned before in previous posts, the Tudor Ranger is much better quality in terms of functionality and looks. Their "T" fit clasp is just so good, along with their micro adjust. Longines bracelet has a double fold style clasp but, their micro adjust is way better than Tudors, as it features a button release system that is one of the best I've ever used. Both watches are COSC certified, but the Longines wins by a landslide in accuracy. I wore my Tudor Ranger for 4 days straight, and it lost about 11 seconds. (Well within specs) I also wore my Spirit Pilot 39 equally for 4 days and it lost an insanely impressive 1 second.
(Absolutely unreal!) Both watches were purchased at an AD brand new. Also, I should note, the bracelet on my Longines is NOT the bracelet it comes with. I swapped the new 39mm Hydroconquest bracelet out and put it on the Spirit. Which I feel, gives it a little more of a rugged look. The H link pairs so well with it.

Longines Spirit Pilot 39 vs Tudor Ranger 39.

These 2 watches I’ve seen a lot of people compare and honestly I can see why. The downfall of one is the strong suit of the other. And vice versa. Both the Longines and Tudor Ranger are equally COSC certified, though I find my Longines keeps better time by 1 or 2 seconds. No big deal, as it doesn’t necessarily concern me because they’re both well within specs.
.
.
The Ranger wears so much larger, for me. But I feel this may be an optical illusion because of the domed sapphire crystal the Ranger has vs the Longines very minimal dome. I will say it until I’m blue in the face, the Ranger would have been my absolute one and DONE had it had the same kind of applied Arabic numerals as the Longines. However, the Tudor Ranger definitely has way better lume than the Longines which is kind of a bummer. I understand many people think that at the Ranger having raised applied Arabic numerals at the 3,6,9 and 12 would have been competing or, stealing the design from the Rolex Explorer, but I strongly disagree. I mean, I can see why people would say that. But the Rolex Explorer has a triangle at the 12, and not an actual 12. Longines prior HC (before the new one had something similar) the dial on the Longines is darker than the Tudor, and… again, I wish Tudor made an ink black dial because that would have been insane.
.
.
Both watches are 39mm and have a 20mm lug width, and both are definitely considered Tool watches. Both watches come with different variants for strap/bracelet, but the Tudors T fit micro adjust clasp is a lot more premium feeling than the Longines braceletit comes with. However, I have since put the new HC H link bracelet on the Spirit Pilot and found that the H link looks much better more,.. toolish than the bracelet it comes with. In my humble opinion, you just can’t go wrong with either or.
.
.
The Spirit Pilot 39 retails at $3100, where the Tudor retails at just over $4,000. Tudor Rangers thickness is 12mm thick, where the Longines is 11.5mm thick. You can find both these watches used for a pretty decent price well below Retail. Both watches are 100m (330ft) water resistant, the Tudor Ranger has a 70 hour power reserve where the Spirit Pilot 39 has a 72 hour power reserve. For those of you questioning or wondering what you should get between the 2, I’d strongly suggest trying them on in person and seeing for yourself. My personal opinion, is the Tudor Ranger has much more value, and much more wrist presence than the Longines. That’s not the say the Longines doesn’t accomplish the same depending on circumstances. The Spirit Pilot I feel can just be dressed up way better than the Tudor Ranger. Hope this helps with those wondering what to get!

Spirit Pilot 39.

Honestly, the Spirit Pilot 39 on the new Hydroconquests H link bracelet looks so good. I’d be remiss if I didn’t say I think it’s better looking than the bracelet it comes with. Of course it’s a matter of opinion, regardless, both bracelets are just so amazing. Can anyone recommend any straps for it? Please post pics in comment section!

Clearly I have a type. 🥴😭

I bet Longines HC would look so bad ass on a 5 link/Jubilee bracelet. Pretty cool each diver has a different bracelet! H link, 5link/Jubilee, and the Mesh/Milanese. The Milanese originally came with the Blue Bezel HC, but I switched them around. I love my Tudor BB41 (METAS) but I prefer the bezel of my HC over the bezel of my BB41. HC sounds crisp, and has 120 click unidirectional, vs the BB41, which is a 60 click unidirectional bezel. No shade against Tudor, I love all their watches, it’s just a personal preference. Hope y’all are having a great day!

I never tire of seeing this beast on my wrist.

The newest version of the Tudor BB41 (Metas/COSC certified on 5 link) looks black in low light, but in the light, shows a very unique sunray dial. Can yall suggest any straps that look nice with it? Post pics in comment!

I think I found my favorite strap..

I know y’all are probably getting super tired of my posts. (Sorry in advance) I just love sharing with you all my thoughts and pics of bad ass watches. For me, personally, I feel like this strap and color is bloody perfect for the Spirit Pilot 39. Also, this is not the brown leather strap it comes with. I got this particular strap from Amazon and have worn it with other watches. It’s patina is really starting to show.

Here is the link for the strap if you’re interested.

HOW THE HELL DO YOU EVEN CHOOSE…

What watch to wear day by day? How does anyone choose what to wear when they all look so bad ass. I played strap roulette and couldn’t fail as you can tell. 😂 I am loving Longines new lineup so much! I wish they made a chronograph with the same feeling bezel as the new HC’s. Because the ones they have out now, the way the bidirectional bezel feels just realllllly doesn’t do it for me. Enough so to completely forget about it and never look back. Which really sucks, because it’s such a bad ass watch. I just can’t get over the bezel feeling. 😭

You just can’t go wrong…

With olive green pants/slacks and some 4585’s. The color of both compliment each other so much! 😍

Absolutely BLOWN away with

The craftsmanship, accuracy, style, and pure execution of the new Spirit Pilot 39. COSC certified and still cheaper, slimmer, more accurate and in my honest opinion, better looking than my Tudor Ranger 39mm. The strap my Spirit Pilot 39 came with is so bad ass too. I picked it up brand new for $100 under MSRP + no taxes! Everywhere else was sold out too! So far, I’ve had this beauty for about 4 days and it has lost ZERO seconds. Insane! 🥹 first picture shows the strap it comes with, the second picture, is with my HC metal bracelet which fits really well. Actually, I prefer the metal H link bracelet over the one it’s sold with if I’m being honest. 🥹
