The Quesadilla Paradox
If you put beans, cheese and meat into a tortilla and roll it up, you have a burrito. If you put just cheese in there, and fold it in half like a taco, it's a quesadilla. I think we're all in agreement so far. But if you take all the burrito ingredients and put it in a tortilla, but fold it in half like a taco, most people I know (which is white people in Oregon, mind you) will call it a quesadilla still, because of the shape. They might not think it's the best way to do it, but they won't stop you.
But take that burrito-quesadilla, unsliced, and eat it like a taco, and suddenly you're committing a food crime. Even though it's the same ingredients, in a familiar orientation, something about it makes people say things like "You're doing it wrong", "what's wrong with you" and "hey, you can't be here, this is a restricted area". Yeesh.
