”Special Preview” and Priority Entrance

With 2 weeks until Fan Expo Toronto, I’m getting antsy for my first con! I’ve made a couple posts trying to prepare myself but here Wii go again.

I got the ultimate package and I’m wondering about two things:

  1. Access to the Special Preview on Thursday at 2
    and

  2. Priority Entrance

  3. What is a special preview? Lol - my hotel check in time isn’t until 4PM so I’m wondering if this is worth going to… I’d like to get myself situated before going to the convention center. Is it also early admission?

  4. How does priority entrance work? I’m a smoker (yeah, yeah) so I’m sure at some point I’ll want to take a break to hack a couple darts (6ft from any entrance yada yada) — with the ultimate pass, will I be able to get in and out easily?

Surprise 3rd question: Does anyone know what the hobbits are willing to autograph? I have two framed MTG posters from the LOTR release and that’s what I’m planning on getting signed. If they can’t, I will cry. Someone put my mind at ease, I didn’t even consider this to be a possibility until someone mentioned premium autographs.

And again, as a first timer any advice is greatly appreciated! Let the countdown BEGIN

New to this, should I buy into Enbridge?

A lil background info; when she passed away last year, I found out my grandma, who raised me, named me as the single beneficiary of her GICs. Our family was not wealthy by any means, and although the only debt I have is my mortgage, I’ve never had enough money for a decent emergency fund let alone monies to invest. Without talking numbers, my situation has now changed. I immediately put it into a short term GIC, then after that into a 3 year cashable GIC — leaving some funds aside in my TFSA and high interest savings account for emergencies.

Met with a financial advisor yesterday and when I realized GICs won’t keep up with inflation I decided to invest the extra money in my TFSA into mutual funds. Now I’m thinking about cashing out some of my GIC to diversify my investments. Looking at VFV and ENB specifically. I noticed ENB has gone down in the last 3 months and I feel like now’s not a bad time to buy. I’d be doing a 70/30 split between VFV and ENB. Torn between starting smaller (5K total) but the account I have charges 25$ quarterly for anything under 15K so I might invest more. Just looking for opinions! Any advice is always appreciated. TIA

Update: After a bit of research, and as a newbie, I’m going to leave the mutual funds for now and eat the fees at the cost of my peace of mind. Meanwhile, I’ll use my direct investing account as kind of a sandbox to play around with a small amount of money until I get more confident/knowledgable.

I’m leaning towards this for my portfolio to start:

65% XBAL for diversified stocks + bonds
20% XIC for Canadian equity exposure
10% ENB for additional dividend income
5% KILO as crisis insurance
DRIP and 100$/month DCA

Starting off with a lower risk investment feels better for me at this time. The idea is something that might behave reliably across all market cycles. Can always switch it up in the future! I appreciate all the feedback, feel free to keep it coming.

Norethindrone?

I haven’t picked up my prescription yet but I’m curious… I have a trip planned at the same time my next period is expected to start. I asked my doctor about norethindrone and explained I would like to delay my period at the end of this month, but we also discussed taking it regularly as I am prone to bad cramps and heavy bleeding. From what I’m reading, 0.35mg is the daily dosage and 5mg is used to delay. If I am prescribed the 0.35mg for daily use, will upping my dosage a few days before delay my period?

Only answer I’ve found is here - not sure I fully trust the source, but they say taking 4x 0.35mg a day before the start of my next period can delay it. I just want a nice trip without having to worry about cramps or bleeding through hotel sheets 😭 Any advice is appreciated!! TIA

4 Hobbits Autograph pack

First time going to fan expo! Someone told me you don’t have to get the autographs on the day you purchased them - example, I bought the 4 hobbits package and am worried about not having time on Saturday to get them all.

Elijah and Dominic are only there Saturday, but Sean and Billy will be there Sunday - can I get their autographs on Sunday if I don’t manage to get them on Saturday?

Will there be a way to get all 4 signatures at once since they’re selling it as a package? If not, can my husband wait in line for me and I join him after getting an autograph?

I don’t want to miss meeting any of the hobbits, we only have one autograph for the both of us so I feel like it shouldn’t be considered cutting in line if he’s been waiting and I join him….but I can see how it might not be cool.

Also if anyone can comment on a night with the hobbits and second breakfast, please do - I’m so excited but have no idea what to expect!

UNPAID - u/imnotcrazyjusttired

user u/imnotcrazyjusttired agreed to repay their loan on Friday, June 5th. Communicated until day of repayment, now they’re ghosting me and seem to have blocked me. They’ve since made their profile private and deleted their post as well. Unfortunately I did not use G&S. I take it I’m out of luck and have to take the loss but if anyone has any ideas lmk.

Disappointed

Anyone else disappointed with their results? I know I shouldn’t have gotten my hopes up to high…but I was hoping to learn more about my fathers side of the family with this DNA test. I’ve never met him, and I know nothing about him.

I got no matches except for a couple 2nd cousins once or twice removed, lots of 3rd and 4th cousins. Low key was hoping I’d discover a half sibling, an uncle, hell even a grandparent or great grandparent somehow. I’ve messaged a couple people but I don’t have very much hope left for any meaningful discoveries.

Anyways /rant. Thanks for listening.

Edit: I was in my feels for a minute there, but thanks to everyone who commented I’m more optimistic. I’ve waited 30 years for answers, I can wait a little longer!

How did you get started?

I’m curious, how did you get started with your collection? Was it a gift, or a lucky find? How did you get your first coin? Where did you find it? Tell me your stories!

I found my first coin in highschool working as a cashier at a small local business - a customer paid with a silver dollar. I switched it out with a regular ol loonie from my purse and the rest is history…

Help: Storage

Hey all,

I have a small collection of French banknotes that I started when my late grandfather gave me a few Francs for a euro trip I was supposed to take…never wound up going and later discovered this currency is no longer used. Kept them all these years because they are beautiful and it reminds me of Grand-Papa.

I need advice on how I can better store these…or maybe how to display them since they’re so pretty?I’m looking for something consistent that fits all the different sized bank notes. Some of the larger denominations are too large for the sleeves I’ve found, and I can’t find any that would fit the largest (7x4” 500 Francs, pictured…tape is not directly touching the banknote, it’s in a makeshift sleeve) -

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated :)

I have a few other very small collections of notes and coins, so if they are not being displayed I’d like everything to be in one place ideally. They are currently in a binder, not sure if the sleeves are PVC-free….

Anyways, here’s a couple pics for interest!

First time, what to expect?

Hey all!! I just purchased tickets to Fan Expo in Toronto, as well as tickets to An Evening with the Hobbits and the Hobbit Autograph 4pack. Very excited about this event, but I’ve never attended anything like this before. What can I expect? Is there anything of importance to note? Anything I should know? Bring?

I have a million questions about the autographs, the evening event and even what to expect on arrival. I’m going to keep looking into this on my own, but I figured this community might be able to help as well :)

Soooo exciting, I’m a huge LOTR fan and I’ve been rewatching in anticipation heheh
