We’ve been able to live happily and peacefully thanks to the Wizard King and the past mages who looked out for us out entire lives. They protected us before we joined our squads, when we were kids, heck, before we were even born! They fought for us no matter the odds and never backed down! And the Wizard King led the way! Making sure that the country was safe! That we could live our lives It’s thanks to the sacrificies they made that the Clover Kingdom exists now! Without them and their passion, we wouldn’t be who we are today! I won’t turn my back on this country. It’s my turn to look after everything the Wizard King protected and the captains have protected. To take a stand! But it’s not just me! It’s your turn too! This is our chance to make a difference! I’ll heal up using my fighting spirit! And I’ll face Conrad again and I’ll kick his but for real this time! We can stop him, if we work together. We may not be strong enough to win against him by ourselves, but if we join forces, we’ll turn into something unstoppable. Isn’t that the point of being magic knights? Why we’re here in the first place? If all of us join together and pool our power, there’s no enemy anywhere who could stop us! I’m not forcing anyone to come with me. The heights are just placeholders, wondering if a smaller stairwell would change the distance. I am reading a book where they keep complaining about the distance it takes to reach the top of a circular tower. If they built a smaller spiral staircase within the larger tower, would it be more efficient and take less distance to reach the top assuming the stairs are the same height? Sorry for the crude drawing lol

De Soya is describing his worse fear aboard a ship being getting vented into space. So, like Dure’s numerous resurrections, would a vented soldier carrying a cruciform eternally resurrect as they drift through space… FOR ETERNITY? Or is there a clause in the resurrection that I’m forgetting?
I have been seeing so much praise for Between Two Fires that I’ve been itching to buy it. Read the first 30 pages online and the writing style did not seem enjoyable to *me* at all. May have to stake out at Barnes and Noble and just read half the book the there first. Bummer after making myself read through my shelf a bit before buying another freshie. Nothing against the book!
This has to be the defining quote of the series. I know we are set for doom and despair, but maybe this cope, but I can’t help but feel like this will be the defining moment of the L******* arc and ending of the series. Please god pierce

I thought Simmons did a wonderful job of alternating viewpoints, the chaos of multiple POVs per chapter near the end really conveyed the frantic state that everyone was in. The addition of Severn was a bit rough at first, but he blended into the story incredibly well.
When I started Hyperion last month, I read a comment on this sub saying something along the lines of, “Simmons never introduces something he doesn’t later come back to explain”. And that was absolutely true! My favorite part about this, other than being a satisfying conclusion, was that nearly all of my questions were answered in very interesting fashion! Really scratched my sci-fi itch!
Now onto The Book of The New Sun before diving back into Endymion.
