How far do you typically have to travel to a range, and is it free or membership?
I grew up out in the sticks where I could just step off my back porch and shoot all I wanted, so I'm new to this range stuff.
I was out of guns for a lot of years but finally got an AR and would like to shoot it a bit, and I live in town now. The closest range is a members-only place that is $40 a month, and beyond that there's basically nothing for 20ish miles. I see one that is free but takes almost an hour to get too, and one that is a 30 min away but is indoors and says 5.56 is soft point only (which I do not have). Kinda slim pickings anywhere nearby.
I'm thinking I may be better off to just go out and visit my dad and just go up in the woods.
Does anyone actually use molle webbing on backpacks?
I see a ton of backpacks with molle webbing on them- aside from military packs, there's even a bunch at Walmart nowadays with molle on them. But I don't know if I've ever seen pictures of anyone with stuff attached to backpack molle. Is there a practical application for it or is it more "just in case you might need it?"
Is this new?
Saw it at a gas station on the road today but couldn't pick it up for various reasons
TPMS fault after 20 min driving
Wondering if anyone has any insight on this one. 2021 Explorer ST, gets a TPMS fault on one wheel after driving for 20 minutes, every time you drive it. What would be causing this?
Mossberg 590 question
On Mossberg's website, they show several of the 20" barrel 590's with bayonet lugs on them- besides the Retrograde, they also show one on the 50694 "Persuader" and on the 50693. Yet, if I look up those SKU's on the google and go to some of the places that sell them (Sportsman's Warehouse, for example) their pictures show no bayonet lug. What's the deal?
This is going to sound dumb but how does an FFL transfer purchase work?
I have never bought a gun outside of walking into a store and buying one.
So let's say I find a gun online that I want to order. How does that work? Do you have to order the gun online and then make arrangements with your local FFL? Do you only pay after everything is set up for the transfer?
Vernier calipers- what to buy
I should have picked one up years ago, but at any rate I want to get a Vernier caliper, in metric, probably digital. Should I just go ahead and get a good one like a Mitutoyo? Or are the cheap ones just as good? I want something that isn't junk and will give me accurate measurements.
Edit: ok guess I meant digital calipers then,my eyes suck to read a standard vernier.
Oh and, I take it the $40 Mitutoyos on ebay are counterfeits then? No wonder they seemed so reasonable

Gmail app stuck retrieving messages
I opened my gmail app last night to send an email, as soon as I hit "compose message" it said "gmail cannot connect to google play services" and kicked me back out.
I deleted the cache and that caused the app to just open to a blank screen, so I uninstalled and reinstalled and got it set back up, but now it's just saying "Retrieving messages" and has been stuck on that since then. What do I do? I can still access it via the website, just not the app.
I feel like Centerfire System's Memorial Day email was a tad misleading...
Got this email today and said sweet, free shipping! And they had a couple things on sale that I wanted. So I go and start making an order, go to my cart and they are charging for shipping. So I thought, maybe it's only free shipping on the sale items? Take it down to just that and nope, still charging for shipping. Apparently the only thing they are actually offering "free shipping" on is some CZ50 pistols that they had on sale.
Been looking for some cobalt metric drill bits for a project I'm working on. Found this 25 piece set (1mm-13mm) that a guy was selling, no information about the bits but it said they were cobalt and were in a nice Huot case. I figured they were probably just some Chinese cobalt bits stuck in a Huot case but it was a good price for a 25 piece set so I bought it.
Well, I got them today. For starters they are just HSS and not cobalt (a little annoyed about that), but as you can see in the pic it's a grab bag of manufacturers. Some of the bits are stamped UK, some are USA, some are Dormer made in Brazil, a couple have no markings at all. I emailed the guy and he told me he worked at GM for 35 years and they supplied the bits (I'm wonder how he got them?). At any rate I'm assuming the UK and USA bits are probably decent but what about the Dormer Brazil bits?
