What would you do?

Back story. I got pregnant last autumn.

We weren't dating. I had sex one time with someone I had been friends with for years.

He told me that he didn't want to be a part of the babies life. Blocked me on social media. Stopped communication with me.

I spent my pregnancy giving him space but hoping he would come around.

He didn't.

When baby was a few weeks old I sent him a text and let him know that she was born. Long story short he basically told me he meant what he said and I was on my own. Asked her name and asked for a picture. Which I sent him.

I haven't heard from him since that day and haven't tried to reach out since.

I don't understand how you can see this beautiful baby and not fall so much in love you can't imagine not being a part of her life. We don't need him.

She's 4 months old now.

He randomly texted me today asking how she's doing.

Part of me wants to be cordial

The other part of me wants to tell him to eff off. You don't get to just pop up randomly for quarterly updates.

Would you respond?

Edited to add you guys are goofy

First of all nowhere in this post did I ask advice on child support. You guys have no idea if I have filed for child support, if I'm going to or if I'm not going to why I wouldn't. And it's not only none of your business it's completely irrelevant to what I was asking.

AITA for wanting to talk to Mommy about the day

Ok so yesterday I (11 weeks old sass queen and diva princess) had a verrrrrry big day.

Me and mommy went to two new places.

At the first one we talked to a lady about quicklems, skedrools, and daily tivities. Then we walked around and looked into this room where I saw the most babies I've ever seen in one place. It was amazing.

The second one there was a different lady talking about all the same things. So I sat there smiling at Mommy so they would let me see the babies again. And they did! This time it was even more babies and they were eating! So I decided to join in the fun and started chomping on mommies arm while I was watching them and everyone thought I was so cute. Of course they are right.

Then we went home and mommy started talking about things like cisions to make and not sure bout leaving me.

So I woke up at 2:30am which I almost never do... except last week after my doctor said I can sleep as much as I want at night and I decided as much as I wanted was zero. But this time I had things to talk about bacuz why is she talking about leaving me!

Mommy gave me a bottle and I was hungry so I ate that but I didn't go back to sleep oh no no no we needed to talk about this madness. So then she offered me milkies right from the tap. Which is nice of course but that lady knew that isn't what I wanted. We had things to talk about.

So I laid in her lap and talked to her for an hour and a half.

Here's where I am wondering if I'm the asshole. Usually when I talk to Mommy she smiles and tells me how cute I am. But this time she kept saying things like "girl go to sleep" and "it's still night night time you can tell by how dark it is" and "Miss ma'am please sleep tomorrow is a busy day". That doesn't really sound like my problem but I need to know!

AITA milkies lady dripped chili on my new clothes

I (4 weeks f sass queen and literal diva princess) was sleeping in baby jail... which I already don't like to do especially not during the day. Because why even bother having servants if they can't hold me while I sleep. But milkies lady was looking especially tired and old this morning so when I fell asleep I decided to cut her some slack and let her put me down.

But then I heard her in the kitchen making herself some food. Can you believe the nerve! So I politely yelled at the top of my lungs to let her know that wasn't cool and she needed to break me out of baby jail.

She did eventually come and get me like forever seconds later.

But she had a chili dog in her hand.

There is no way no how I was going to let her eat peacefully. Not on My watch.

So I quietly screamed loudly until she agreed to feed me.

But milkies lady had some nerve and gave me a bottle so she could eat too. Saying she needs to eat in order to make more milkies for me or whatever. Sounds like crap to me.

So I kicked my legs just gently enough.

But then milkies lady was saying something about how now she dripped chili on my brand new Merica Birfday outfit. I already told everyone that I don't think Merica deserves a Birfday this year... but my outfit is adorable regardless.

And can you believe it...she's trying to blame my well aimed kick for chili on my outfit.

Those have nothing to do with each other I don't think. Sounds like more excuses to me.

But I want to be sure... AITA here?

AITA for letting them know what I actually want

I am f 17 days old, perfect in literally every way and have earned myself the title of sass queen of the NICU. They say that I will be going home soon and I don't know what that means but I am sure I will be able to continue my reign there.

The other day I heard milkies lady telling the nurse lady that when my brother and sister were my age she would have loved to be able to put them down and have them be content. But now that she sees how NICU trained I am and just sit there quietly awake she realizes how weird it is.

But here's the thing. I didn't even realize until she said it that not sitting quietly was an option. Now that she said it I realized she's right. I would rather be held and when milkies lady puts me down I make sure she knows that isn't what I want.

Here's the problem she keeps saying things like Miss ma'am I need to pump, or use the bathroom, or eat I can't hold you all the time.

Ummmmm excuse me you literally can and should. I don't think I'm the asshole she can't have it both ways... but also I want to make sure before the next time I yell off with her head for setting me down.

Specific pediatrician recommendations?

Hi all...

I have talked to our NICU team and am also doing my own research.

But thought I would hop on here and see if anyone had any recommendations.

I just recently had a baby who has Trisomy 21. I am searching for a pediatrician who either specifically has extensive Trisomy 21 experience or is just extremely great with children who have special needs.

We live in the Loring Park neighborhood so I would prefer someone around there...(Or downtown, Whittier, etc) But would consider branching out a little further.

Tell me pediatricians you love!

Pray for positive feeds/hitting goals

Hi there. My 15 day old baby has been in the NICU since birth.

The only thing keeping us here at this point is her feeding. She has to be Able to take 80% of her goal feeds orally "consistently"

She's hit 80% for her total daily intake a couple of times but then her progress pauses and she drops back down.

Yesterday she was at 73%.

Today she has needed her feeding tube some but not every feed.

This evening she ripped her entire feeding tube out (for the second time). This time her nurse said "you know what let's not put it back until she needs it"...then explained that sometimes they rip it out and just take off eating.

I'm having a really hard time being hopeful because several times now we have been super close to going home but then she needs that feeding tube. However I would love for her to prove me wrong.

Please pray that she just starts eating now and the feeding tube doesn't need to go back in

Her next feed is in about an hour... And these overnight ones are the hardest for her!

Update on my last couple of requests and a new request

I had asked for prayers as I was pregnant with a baby who tested high risk for down syndrome.

And the overall anxiety of this pregnancy in general.

So update...

Baby was born June 2nd. Literally absolutely perfect and beautiful. However she does have Trisomy 21 and we are on day 12 in the NICU.

Overall she is doing amazing. I do not take for granted she could be a lot more critical than she is.

However she has a couple of things she needs to work on before she can go home.

#1- she needs to hit 80% of her feeding goals orally. She is so close y'all... over 70% most of the time...she's just not quite there.

#2- she needs to wean off oxygen. Again she is super close. She's on low flow off the wall and for the most part her stats are great. She is just not quite there.

Her entire team is amazed at her progress... so am I...

But also I'm so tired

I miss my house and older kids and pets.

It's so lonely and isolating up here.

I just want her home.

I want this journey to start feeling more natural.

Not to mention the financial toll

I'm a single parent that while I had some money set aside for emergencies before my paid leave kicks in I didn't have two weeks in NICU set aside.

I'm trying to balance not spending money on food all the time with needing to eat enough to continue building my breast milk supply... which also isn't at goal. While trying to heal from a cesarean.

This is all so hard.

Please pray for baby...that she hits her feeding and breathing goals soon.

Me...my mental, physical and financial health

And both of us that we can just get her home soon

New baby question

Hi all.

My baby is a week old today.

Overall she is doing great. She's still in the NICU but is thriving. She has a minor asd and vsd neither that are effecting function. She does still have some right side extra pressure but it is improving.

She's still not on room air but only because they are trying to help that extra pressure. They will be doing a third echo on Thursday and are hopeful they will see enough improvement that we can go back to working on room air.

Feedings are going great. She is not quite at goal with breastfeeding/bottle combo but very close.

Everything else is looking amazing...

Except...

Her platelets.

They started in the 60s, started slowly rising got to 101...

Then the last two days started dropping again. Yesterday they were 77 today they are 67.

Has anyone seen a drop like this and then them start to rise?

Just wondering what to expect at this point.

I am going to ask that right now you don't "worst case scenario" me. But I would like to hear others experiences.

Please pray for me and my baby

Four or five months ago I posted a prayer request when we got the nipt results back that my baby is high risk for down syndrome.

You all helped me refocus and calm down quite a bit.

I am going to ask for prayers once again.

I am 37 weeks today. Tuesday is go day with a scheduled cesarean. This pregnancy has been beyond difficult but almost all of it has been me not baby. Low iron, gestational hypertension, gestational diabetes, ongoing "morning" sickness, irritable uterus, etc. I even spent 9 hours in the hospital in Friday where baby looked great the whole time. Me not so much.

Minus one ultrasound a few weeks ago that so far looks like it was just a bad ultrasound (have had several since plus a fetal echo that have all been exactly where they want them to be) baby has looked great.

I feel like I have spent the whole pregnancy and especially the last few weeks "bargaining"... pleading...

Please don't let baby have down syndrome.

Please don't let baby have heart problems.

Please get baby here safely.

Etc

This is baby number three and I have never been so anxious. I'm excited to have baby here. But also terrified of the unknown. I know much of it stems around the unknown of the high risk down syndrome reading and if there truly is that diagnosis or not.

But not all of it.

I know we've got this no matter what... but if you could please just pray for me and baby I would appreciate it so very much

I'm sitting at an appointment (for myself) in tears. Because I am 8 months pregnant and hormonal and am facing some already really hard things in my life.

And I just got a call from my dad (early stages dementia) who called me asking if I found somewhere to live.

I have lived in the same place for 4 years and haven't been looking for somewhere else right now.

He told me that he saw something saying that I was homeless and he was on his way to the bank to put money in my account.

He said my mother (they have been divorced over 30 years) sent him a message and told him it was his turn to help me. I haven't gotten help from either parent in a very long time.

I reassured him that I am safe and ok. And just waiting for an appointment. And he sounded relieved and ended the call

But uuuffffggggghhhhhhhhh

I'm pregnant with my third.

My second pregnancy was also difficult but this one is a whole different level.

Don't get me wrong I want baby to stay put and keep cooking. But I am exhausted and don't think I can keep doing this. I need relief.

I have so much pain and pressure all the time. I'm also having contractions multiple times a day. I had an irritable uterus with my second and the contractions were actually more frequent than this but I feel like these ones are often more painful/uncomfortable.

I am anemic (have been all three pregnancies) and have GD for the first time. So I have been struggling through these.

I am getting sick pretty much daily. I had HG with my second and I am thankful I'm not that kind of sick. But I need zofran more now than I did in my second trimester.

And it is hitting me out of nowhere. Three times this week I have started a meal feeling just fine and then while I am actively eating will start throwing up... without warning. Tonight I literally had my last bite in my mouth and chewing and barfed everywhere. It was also the same thing I had for lunch without any issues.

I have been spotting off and on for 8 days now.

This isn't even everything.

I'm so tired
