How are my plants looking?

How are my plants looking?

I got these in the mail a week and a half ago. I followed the directions for unpacking and acclimating to the humidity. I've also been adding distilled water to the plate, the soil has been moist the whole time. I usually keep them in a window that gets direct sunlight in the morning and I put them in the back yard yesterday to get as much sun as possible. So how are they looking? What can I do to make them thrive?

Edit, this is a Venus Flytrap, a Drosa capensis and a Sarracenia pitcher plant.

PSA when you see someones stuff on a machine.

If you see someones things on a machine, like they put their purse, phone, water bottle, dildo, whatever on the absorciser to save it for later. Watch that machine, for maybe 30 seconds, maybe a minute, people normally don't stray from a machine they're using for too long. Then just get up on it and get your pump on. If they come back and complain, just say you didn't see anyone using the machine and assumed they forgot their stuff. And they'll see you at peak pump, so they wouldn't dare step to someone with such a sweet bod. You got this, killer, go get it

How to make a lateral move when there are no open positions?

Im working with a manager who, Im sure is busy doing something. The problem is in the last 3 years that hes been my manager hasn't put in the needed work to understand the projects we support. We lost a few people from the team because of this and now Im the only one on my team supporting the project. I've been told that we're looking to hire someone but Im not very confident that will happen soon.

I love working for this company, I work with a number of people who are amazing at what they do and great co-workers, so Id rather not go to a different company. I keep looking at the internal job postings, but there's nothing in any other team for my position. I've also asked other connections I have at the company and nobody has anything.

Is it worth me going to HR and asking if there is anything available? I won't say anythign about the manager but am worried that if that still gets back to my manager, there will be retaliation. Like I said, I dont want to leave the company, but if thats my only option Ill do it.

Is it worth asking HR if they know of any opportunities on another team?

When is a good time to apply if you're in an office 3-5 days a week?

I always see that the most important factor in getting interviews is to apply within a few hours of the posting. I also see that Tue, Wed, and Thurs mornings are better times to apply. What about the people who are at work during those times? When are the good times to apply outside of the best times?

Looking for fishing spots in the north east.

Hi, I haven't gone fishing in about 15 years since I lived in the south. But Im looking for a little get away this summer somewhere between July 3rd - 11. I've been looking on Vrbo for places on a river or lake but Im also open to suggestions. For type of fish, Im pretty open, in the past Ive fished for catfish and trout. I have a spinning reel and a bait caster, I plan on getting bait and a licence when I get up there. No waders though, so Ill probably be fishing from the shore.

The main thing Im looking for is seclusion, somewhere I can fish, have some drinks and smoke some weed within walking distance to where Im staying. It would also be nice if I was far enough away from others that I could play music at night.

Any rec's are appreciated, fish on.

Edit: I live in Northern NJ, outside of NYC. So Im looking at NY, PA, CT, VT, NH, anywhere within a 4 -5 hour drive.

Im going to wash my own car

I just bought the Griot's Ultimate Detail bucket and a microfiber wash mop and Im going to wash my car this weekend. Im not going to give any more of my money to the D bag that owns the car wash in town who's constantly blasting Fox News and begging me to sign up for his "monthly subscrption" service.

I had to add flair, because I was under the minimum required pieces of flair.

What are the best times to apply to jobs besides Tues and Wed?

I always hear that the best time to apply to jobs are Tues and Weds mornings. My problem is that I work from my office Tues, Wed and Thurs, I have to leave pretty early so I don't have a ton of time to check job boards and company job pages on those mornings before I have to leave. Should I still apply in the time I do have on Mon, Tues and the weekends or am I just throwing my resume into a black hole?

[NY] Could a team member quitting early reflect bad on me?

This is in NY, USA, I work in tech, in total the company has about 5k employees. Im on a small, just me, another engineer and a senior manager. My original team member is on leave for a few months, and we hired a contractor to fill in. When the new contractor started, I was on vacation and my other coworker ended up taking leave early, this left the new contractor with nobody but the senior manager to train them.

The manager doesn't know a lot about the project we support so he basically gave the new person some links to the docs as "on boarding" and that is not nearly enough in this type of position. He also doesn't have a lot of social intelligence and can come off as fairly condescending to the point of insulting if you take something the wrong way. When I got back from the vacation, I got the new person up to speed and they have been great from what I have seen. I am also currently updating our "on boarding" process.

Its been a little over a month and last week the new hire gave 2 weeks notice and said they found a new job. My question is will the contractor leaving so early reflect poorly on me? I don't know what they're going to say in the exit interview but I have a feeling it won't reflect well on my team. Should I be worried? Is there anything I should do in the meantime? Thanks.

Replacing top down window blinds.

I bought a house a year ago with top down blinds and one just broke. There's a plastic piece on the top that screws into the window frame, then it looks like the actual blind part snaps into that. I think it's something I can do myself. But is there a standard size for this kind of thing or do I need to get a specific brand? I mean I know it will have to be the same width as what I have now. But it looks like a pretty straigt forward job, is there anything else that I should look out for? Thanks.

Why do solos sound different in different types of music?

I play guitar, I don't know much about theory, big surprise, I know. Most of the music I play is blues based rock, so Im always trying to end phrases/ solos on the 1 or 5th note of the scale. But honestly, Im usually doing that by ear and I don't know what note Im ending on, I just go by sound. My question is why does soloing in different types of music sound different? ln bluegrass or country or jazz or metal, not only does the music sound different but all the lead melodies sound different, why? I hope this isn't too general of a question, but thanks for any responses.
