Simple 2D / 3D modelling for simulating forces?

I want to design a wedge / lock mechanism similar to a gun trigger mechanism where I want to lock a linear shaft, but require very little rotational force from a servo or something to unlock it.

Is there some sort of a simple 2D or 3D software for not only modelling it, but simulating forces that will then animate the motion? eg: 10Nm of force is applied to the rod when locked and then once the motor rotates, the rod unlocks and pushes out due to the force applied or something?

Looking for specific type of mechanical linkage that allows / prevents linear motion under force.

Hey guys. I'm working on a potential locking mechanism where I have a rod that needs to allow or inhibit linear motion under force. For example, I want to be able to allow the rod to slide back and forth freely. I want to also be able to lock it in place. But more importantly, I want to be able to unlock it while I'm pushing on the rod.

I was looking at some spring loaded gun lock trigger mechanisms which might do the trick but I'm wondering if there's a more common term I can do some further research.

Another idea I had was a ball lock similar to those used in those pneumatic tool collet holders but that tends to be a bit trickier to build.

Thanks in advance

[BC] Tax implications for business loan / investment

I'm running a small tech operation and have some excess capital. I'd like to do a business loan where a colleague of mine will pay me interest / profits from his financial operations which is between 10-20% interest per year.

However I'm not sure how this is treated on a tax implication. Eg is the interest earned considered capital gains, or revenue? How much taxes / reporting should I have to consider?

How the hell u guys survive with the insane food prices?!

We are visiting from Canada and absolutely love the scenery and especially fresh produce!

Our Airbnb in Zadar has a pretty thorough kitchen, so we decided to escape the tourist trap and just cook at home. Me and my wife are pretty decent cooks so we know what to get.

We were also staying slightly away from the tourists area as well (opposite side of the dock / bridge). For breakfast, I bought a small loaf of bread, canned sardines, yogurt, cream cheese, half dozen eggs and 100g of olives and just just water and juice.

Then for dinner, we bought a small bag of tortellini, jar of pesto, couple of dessert cakes, sausages, berries and a small bag of greens. These are not like high end ingredients or anything right?

Everything we cooked tasted amazing!. You don't even have to try hard to come close to restaurant quality because your produce and ingredients are so good! But damn, prices aren't cheap! For 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner, all our ingredients we used up mostly cost close to 60 euros! Assuming we cut back slightly and account for left over olive oil, a bit of pesto sauce left, that's still like 30-50 euros for 1-2 says of groceries. That's like 15,000 euros per year. And from my research, that's like only slightly below average salary here in Croatia! How do you guys even survive? You guys eat mlinar everyday or something, or need to absolutely have dual income for a couple?

Do you feel Zenith and other brands ripping off AP Royal Oak is losing brand aunthentity / respect?

I used to love Zenith especially their innovation with the 36000 vph. But over the years, I can't help but think they're selling out to customers especially with mimicking other watch designs like the AP Oak and the Chrono series look awfully similar to the Daytona.

Better or worse, the unique design of the zenith watched was what appealed to me most and gained my respect for watches.

What's your opinion?

Restaurant recommendations for local Croatian food (Pašticada, etc)

We are from Canada visiting Croatia and we just want some no bs local Croatian food / non tourist trap. Particularly I want to try their stews which I believe one of them is Pašticada. We would also love to hear any other local specialty foods dishes!

We are at supernova mall right now to get out of the city a bit. But we can Uber anywhere and we are staying close to the old city.

Thanks in advance!

Where do you guys buy your clothes?

We're visiting from Canada and we dress like hobos compared to you guys and we feel like an insult lol. But at the same time, all your clothes look so nice especially the fabric and materials. Is there a one stop shop place for buying clothes that's more convenient for us?

Hey guys, I'd like to get a larger screen 10+" tablet for my mom so she can access media content on Youtube and maybe other apps. I'm hoping there'd be something as easily accessible as possible like some default homescreen that only presents you a few options so it doesn't get overwhelming. Kind of like Steam Home screen or something.

She's ok with english, but much easier if she had a tablet with a stylus she can just write out Chinese words in the search bar on Youtube or something. But more importantly, I want something that doesn't freak'n slow down! I've bought many tablets 6-7 years ago and they were all junk. I'm assuming they have gotten a lot better now?

Thanks in advance!

I have a 14mm shaft screwed onto a load cell via a weak m5 thread.

Right now, I am using a bronze brushing (20mm in length) and works fine for sliding in and out. But when it's being rotated under load, it causes some mis-alignment / flex on the load cell resulting in friction, false load cell readings and potentially damage.

I bought a linear bearing and it works great for sliding motion, but there's a lot of friction on rotational movement - my understanding is they're not designed for that.

Are there any other potential solutions I could try? I was thinking of trying to get a longer flanged bushing but the 14mm ID is also non-standard and hard to find!
