So I’ve come to visits my parents for five days, I live overseas and I cannot make it over more than once a year or so, and the state of the house has become too much for me to feel ok staying there.
My mother is a smoker, usually two packs a day, so the walls are covered in tar. That would be one thing but it’s also mixed in with dust to create a sludge caked on things like cobwebs. The floors are filthy, not washed, the house is cluttered with boxes, the front steps are crumbling, the deck rotted and collapsed, the drains failed and they ended up with a “fly problem” and now there are black smears on the walls of dead flys left on the wall, one of three bathrooms function and they’re all moulded. I cannot be here often so I cannot take care of it. Does any one know what I could do to help them?
It’s a bit tricky as my mother is deeply depressed and ashamed of the house but won’t let people come and clean and my father due to an intense situation in heart surgery developed insane panic disorder, the anesthesia basically unbalanced his brain chemistry, and is too anxious to push my mother on anything. My brother is around but is often working, has a family, and generally doesn’t want to help in any regard. I feel helpless and I cannot sit by and watch my parents sink further and further into squalor.

So I moved to Germany and now that my finances are all over here I needed to switch my payments to here. Will they won’t let me and I cannot even close my account to open a new account in Germany per what the customer help people told me, before they closed the conversation for me typing “wtf” when it didn’t work, I guess that was “disrespectful”, idk sounds like they found an excuse to get off when their help didn’t work. Anyone have any success getting your account moved to Europe?

Yeah so I have a big watermelon I’m gonna juice today and I was wondering how best I could use it in tiki. Any thoughts? I can’t imagine orgeat going well with it so I’m not thinking a watermelon mai tai but maybe navy rum?

So 2002’s The Mothman Prophecies is quite disturbing and for what it is in its time it is great. That said, in this current era of things like The Backrooms getting adapted I feel like audiences would be more receptive to some of the more bizarre and frankly disturbing parts of Keel’s investigation, the Men in Black and other strange people around the area, the game of lights with the UFOs, the zone of fear, the poltergeist activity experienced by witnesses, the mysterious seemingly unaffiliated maintenance workers in coveralls and oddly thick robber soled shoes, the nonsensical “taps” on Keel’s phone in NYC and so on. What events would you keep, how would you structure it? Personally I would love to see a story following Keel and Hyre trying to make sense of this invasion of high strangeness, what it means, and the eventual bridge collapse. Keel says he was warned of other catastrophes and knew something was going to happen, the dramatic tension is there. But yeah, I think someone could make a very creepy film that leans into the high strangeness of it all. You could also just make it a film about Keel leading into the Mothman year and the bridge collapse and touch on some of his other investigations like into the Grinning Man and then bring him to point pleasant in the second act. I’d love to hear ideas, I’ve proposed doing a script with a playwrite friend of mine and just see where it goes.
