Its just a feeling

Im going to get killed for this post and rightfully so, it get it. Really bad timing but im going to say it anyway.

I support Dundon, and im giving him a chance to cook.

Ive been dreading reading anything about this dude because everything is negative and at the end of the day all you can really do as a fan is hope for the best. I dont think anyone in this sub feels the same way and i dont blame yall one bit.

Ive been trying to stay neutral on this conversation and then hearing about the cuts today is just soul crushing type of news. Not because im directly affected by it anyway, i dont know anyone that works for the Blazers or anything but i can empathize and know people who just one day get layed off because some dick head(s) at the top of a company decide theyre just not needed anymore and after decades of being loyal just one day gone, off with their head.

I finally loaded up that Max Kellerman and Rich interview which ive been avoiding and was fully ready to be disgusted by what i was going to hear.

And i just wasnt. And despite the awful news of today im not going to pretend i should be. In fact the more i hear this guy talk the more things make sense. I dont get the feeling that this guy is "cheap". I dont think he secretly wants to move the team. I dont think hes just another rich guy, in fact, I think hes a was just your average middle class guy now with just a whole lotta money. I think the changes hes making will in the long run become a huge huge huge net positive that we just cant see right now.

But i really have nothing to base this intuition on. Call it delusion, call it toxic positivity, call it whatever. For now im just goin to call it a feelin....and i really hope im right for all of our sake.

For people that havent watched the Dame interview...there was a lot of lowkey great stuff in there, especially about how his progress is:

  1. puts the team on notice that we need to be a better shooting team due to all the opportunities Deni creates from drive and kick outs. Whether we need to trade guys or they need to step up, im glad he addresses one of our biggest weaknesses.

  2. Immediately after that he also lets everyone know "IM GONE BE IN THE PAINT, IMA GET AROUND MY GUY". The biggest elehpant in the room is everyone doubting that he can still be explosive, hes puttin the doubters on notice right away. I love that shit.

  3. Confirms he was thinking about coming back early to play AND that he was not the one that was putting that out there. Thats letting us know people behind the scenes are seeing what hes capable of and decided to do all that teasing bullshit to possibly coax him into comin back early. He does talk about the reality of his progress but again this is great sneaky news about how well he must be doin behind close doors.

  4. He's asked about doin "Live rounds", confirms he is and bashfully laughs like a dude gettin away with a bank heist " its goin good "

  5. Believes we already have enough to be a 50-60 win team next year, and again says he is really excited about what they're going to show everyone next season.

  6. Talks about the owner not only doin good ( which of course he has to say shit like this ) but he uses a key word about him. He says the owner is very active in LEARNING about the NBA. This gives a lil hope that this guy maybe has a chance at not being too stubborn on how hes done things in the past. Crossing my fingers of course for this one.

Im trying to keep my expectations low but man this dude does not sound like he is thinking of being a 3rd or even 2nd option next year. Im all in on the return of the King.
