Watched Prisoners (2013) and Nightcrawler (2014) recently and I have to say Jake Gyllenhaal is criminally underrated as an actor; I think you can make a case for these two films as his strongest or most powerful performances

Hugh Jackman and Paul Dano in Prisoners, and Rene Russo and Riz Ahmed in Nightcrawler were equally impressive. Both films are brilliantly shot too.
