I'm making a Terraria / Starbound clone that has living villages and a monk theme. No AI. Is there any kind of content that would be fun to add to this?

My favorite games in the world are Terraria and Starbound. My dream game has always been to have a sandbox game with living villages where the people have their own lives and stories and quests.

I love love love Starbound's vibe overall, but I thought the village simulation could be deeper and more interesting, like if the villagers actually had storylines

I'm trying to give it a try myself. I'm doing the code, art, and music myself (no AI art or assets whatsoever).

The core idea is that I've making the village simulation more complex, based on the Sims story progression system. The idea is that villagers' lives will evolve dynamically, where they can have crushes, get married, have midlife crises, get sick, etc. And the quest system is essentially you helping them out with these problems

What do you guys think? Is there anything I could add that'd make it fun?

After 3 years, I'm finally launching the Steam page for my first game, A Monk's Quest. Would you wishlist it if you came across it?

Hello. I just published the Steam page for my first game today.

It's my dream game, a 2D sandbox adventure with simulated villages and quests, hopefully like a cross between Terraria and the Sims.

Because it's my first game, I really want honest feedback on what I can improve about my Steam page and my trailer. Please be blunt!

Finally beat Melania after 318 deaths without getting tips

First playthrough trying to play mostly blind. Proud that I did it without summons and without watching or reading any tips on how to beat her (just trial and error hence the super high death count lol). Also haven’t read anything on optimizing build so feels very satisfying

None of my friends play elden ring so i just wanted to celebrate somewhere :)

Wavelength Online (Community-Driven)

This is just a fun hobby project of mine. I love playing Wavelength but don't have friends to play with. So I wanted to make a version of it where you could play online easily without having to assemble a group

Basically how it works is that the community submits clues that everyone guesses on. Your score is based on how close your dial is to the average community answer up until that point. So the clues and the scoring bands are both crowd-sourced

You can score points by being a good guesser and also by being a good cluer. You can do as much of either one or both as you want

Sorry if that's not a good explanation but if you check it out hopefully it's somewhat clear. Let me know if it could use some clarification

Just a free hobby project I wanted to share in case other people want o play Wavelength solo as well

Board games where you learn an actual body of knowledge while playing it

Recently played a ton of Wingspan and I love that after playing it hundreds of times, I actually knew a ton of North American birds, their attributes, what they looked like, etc. It got to the point where I could go out and bird and recognize a lot of the birds, and it kickstarting my current birdwatching hobby as well

I found this super rewarding and so I'm curious if there are other board games that give you a real-world body of knowledge (or at least a good headstart to one) just by playing the board game a lot

I imagine her other game Finspan would be another good option for this, but curious about others

I love the game Wavelength but don't have people to play with, so I made an online version of Wavelength where you answer clues from the community and try to guess the average opinion

Game Title: Wavelength World
