My friend and I just released a Backrooms generator, it generates maps procedurally through geonodes and can export it in a click for game engines

Every Backrooms footage you see in the video above has been rendered directly in Cycles without touching anything, I simply animated a camera, a flashlight and a dirty lens, then added a CRT effect in AE

Geometry, lighting and textures are direct results from the add-on and haven't been altered in any way

This generator comes with a simple panel in which you chose your type of backroom from 4 styles (lobby, poolrooms, parking lot and hotel) and just have to click on generate, then you can select the mesh created and adjust it with goenode sliders to change the size and the density of each type of room with the environment

All assets are low poly and game ready, it works like a charm in both Eevee and Cycles, and all assets falls under CC0 licencing meaning you can use the generated maps for monetized content, professionnal assets and even games, as long as you don't simply try to sell the maps

There is even a game export function in which you can chose presets between Godot, Unity and UE

If you would like more info free to ask or check it directly

Hope you'll like it!

I got bored of exporting my audio to audacity or audition just to have a nice reverb or fine tune my audio with an EQ curve so I just released Jack, my new plugin which brings elemental audio tools in both AE and Premiere

As said in the title, having to clean your audio in other softwares has always been a bother to me

Jack adds 6 new effects in both AE and premiere :

  • Denoise
  • EQ curve
  • Compressor
  • Reverb
  • Voice filter
  • Ducking

Every effect comes with slider controls and presets, and we're planning to add many features to Jack

I've always wanted better audio tools in AE and god it was soooo hard to pull it off, no wonder there isn't any good audio plugin on the market, just adding auto ducking was a nightmare lol

More info here : https://aescripts.com/jack/

I welcome everyone interested to try it through AEscript trial feature, it'll grant you a 3 days trial period for free

With Pigment's latest version you can see how your whole composition and palette look for colorblind people and adapt your project on the fly

Best way to keep your designs available to everyone, with the project sync feature you can now link your whole project to your palette and use the colorblind tool to see how accessible your project is

After weeks of work my plugin just released on Superhive, it's a raycast based decal projector with a fully functionnal layer system and asset manager

Basically I've been pretty much frustrated with the already existing alternatives so I made my own, it uses raycast technology so it super optimized, it can gather informations from the target surface allowing you to apply normals to your decals

Quick showcase of the project sync feature in Pigment, my palette tool, it allows you to change all the colors of your composition on the go, you can even fine-tune colors individually

Basically once you activate the Project sync tool, every color applied through the plugin is now linked to an expression allowing you to modify your whole project in a single click in a non destructive fashion

For anyone interested, I recently updated Pigment with a powerful gradient tool and many QoL changes, you can get more informations here : https://aescripts.com/pigment/

I just wanted to make a simple gradient effect to work with my palette tool Pigment, but I ended up doing a fully fledged gradient tool with 20 presets

Small video to showcase every preset in my new gradient tool, basically every type of gradient exists in a linear and radial form and have its own set of presets

It also work with the project sync tool which link all your colors in your composition, so you can change your palette and it will automatically apply it to the gradient

This whole gradient tool is available as a new feature in Pigment : https://aescripts.com/pigment/

I just added a pretty neat feature to my palette tool, now you can link your whole project to your palette

IMO definitely the most useful feature for professional workflow I've added so far, I'm starting to run out of ideas to improve it lol

I released my first plugin Pigment 4 days ago and reached top 50 trending on AEscript, my experience hoping this will help people wanting to post plugins

https://preview.redd.it/ad8s89bfpfah1.png?width=443&format=png&auto=webp&s=f59a84ee767b7a29e457165c41aab35b41ee079e

So, last Friday, Pigment was finally approved on aescripts after weeks (or rather months) of work.

I originally started building Pigment to improve my own workflow, but the more features I added, the more it became clear that it could become a real product.

I'm not making this post as an advertisement because my product is already succesful by my standards, but I know some people will ask for the link anyway, so here it is: https://aescripts.com/pigment/

Here are a few things I learned during the process.

The aescripts submission process is long

  • From my first submission to the final approval, the whole process took about three weeks.
  • From what I understand, a lot of that comes from the fact that aescripts handles every step manually. Every time I submitted a new version, it usually took between two to four business days before I got a answer.
  • At first, I found that frustrating. Looking back, though, the feedback they gave me made a huge difference.
  • For example, they had me rework my product page several times. At the time it felt like a chore, but it pushed me to build a much cleaner HTML product page that looks far better than what I originally had in mind.
  • Instead of seeing the waiting time as lost time, I used every gap between reviews to polish Pigment, improve the UI, fix bugs, and create better marketing assets. I genuinely think that's one of the reasons the launch went well.

Having friends test the product was a game changer

  • At one point I thought the extension was basically finished, so I sent it to a few friends for feedback. That's when I realized I wasn't even close to being done lol
  • When you've been working on something for weeks/months, you eventually become blind to its flaws. Every single tester found things that seemed completely obvious in hindsight.
  • I received a ton of feedback, and I ended up implementing almost everything they suggested. Pigment ended up being a much better product because of it.

The trial version was surprisingly difficult

  • aescripts recommended that I include a trial version. Their framework provides a time-limited trial, but that wasn't really compatible with Pigment.
  • Pigment can generate color palettes from text prompts using AI. I initially experimented with running everything locally, but I wasn't happy with the quality of the results, so I decided to rely on OpenAI instead.
  • One thing that was really important to me was that users wouldn't have to pay a monthly fee or buy tokens. Everyone who purchases Pigment gets unlimited generations, and I simply cover the costs myself. That works because paid users easily offset the generation costs.
  • The main challenge was designing a fair trial. Because every AI generation consumes resources on my side, unlimited trial access wasn't really an option.
  • So I built my own custom trial system : Some features are disabled, AI generations are limited to 10, you can access 10 of the 30 built-in palettes, and you can save generated palettes but not reload your own custom ones. The eyedropper tool, for example, is completely disabled in the trial.
  • Looking back, I think I may have made the trial both too restrictive and too generous at the same time. Some users might be put off by the locked features, while others may find that the built-in palettes are enough for their needs and never feel the need to upgrade.
  • My guess is that this leads to a lower trial-to-purchase conversion than I'd like. But this is my very first plugin so I lack data, maybe with the next plugins I'll realise it's actually a very good ratio.

Overall

Despite the amount of work it required, I'm extremely happy with how things turned out.

Pigment already has more than 50 users, and so far I've received nothing but positive feedback.

I'm already working on version 1.1, which will include several quality-of-life improvements, as well as one feature I'm particularly excited about: persistent palettes. The idea is that a palette will be shared across your entire project. If you update one of its colors, every linked color throughout all of your comps will update automatically.

Building and launching a paid AE extension was a lot more work than I expected, but it has also been one of the most rewarding projects I've ever worked on, hopefully my next project which I already submitted to AEscript will end up being as rewarding too, I can't wait!

After months of work I finally released my very first plugin "Pigment" a powerfull palette tool, even if it doesn't sell I'm really proud of what I achieved

Basically it's a palette generator and manager plugin, it's very complete and has intuitive shortcuts. I've been using it personnally in all my projects and it improved my workflow a lot, so even if it doesn't sell I'm glad I have it for myself lol

If anyone wants to see more about it : https://aescripts.com/pigment/

I'm currently working on a raycast based decal projector, it allows you to project anything onto any surface without geometry

I'm in the painfull bugfixing phase but it's nearly ready, it has little impact on performances, customisation options and a fully customizable asset manager

If you have any feedback or ideas I'll take them lol
