First attempt at a Parachute BWO
I went too heavy on the dubbing and my hackle collar is about 2x too tall. I’m thinking about moving up to a #10, and changing from a grizzly hackle to a brown whiting saddle hackle.

Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.
I’ve been fly fishing for years and I’ve always bought flies, but I’ve decided to start tying my own. Any suggestions on good patterns for creek chub and bass?
Hair-banded Broad-Nosed Weevil (Myosides seriehispidus)
Found in Deerwood Arboretum Brentwood, Tn
It’s been several years since I’ve seen one of these guys, and I love how chonky its antenna are.
This banded fungus weevil has a wide set snoot!
Picked up the Blade HQ edition of the Reate Mini EXO with the grey Al body and two-tone Nitro V/PVD drop point blade, as well as the Kershaw Highball XL. The Highball’s stainless handle and D2 drop point blade both have a bead blast finish and the blue anodized pivot and blade stop add some nice color to the aesthetic. Both were on sale at Blade HQ and I picked up the Mini EXO for $100 and the Highball XL for $40.
I decided to go with stacked full-grain leather for the majority of the handle, a white oak accent spacer and a red cedar pommel I cut from a tree on my property. It’s my first attempt at a handle, so I’m looking for feedback for the next project.
I was happy to pick up the raccoon 2.0 with the Bowie plain edge, but I was a little underwhelmed by the flat finish on the blade.
I spotted this guy on a walking trail near the Little Harpeth River in Crocket Park in Brentwood, Tn. This is the first purse web I’ve seen in the wild.
