Talk me out of getting this tattoo.

I'm planning to get a tattoo of orange blossoms as a subtle reference to the character Narancia from part 5. I've always wanted a half-sleeve of flowers anyway, and I thought this was a nice excuse to do it. He's my favorite character in the show overall (so far at least, part 7 is of course pending).

Tell me why this is a bad idea before I spend $800.

Books for burned out adults who struggle to read?

I used to be so passionate about reading, and now I can't remember the last time I finished a book cover to cover.

I've had some success with reading anthologies of short stories, but even so I haven't completed the one I'm currently reading and it's been months since I started.

Any book recommendations, or even possible strategies to improve my reading habits?

General diet and exercise advice resources for insulin resistance?

My endocrinologist recently found that I have insulin resistance. I'm trying to work on losing weight for this and other related health issues I'm having.

Can someone direct me to some resources I can look into about food choices and exercise that target insulin resistance and help with weight loss?

Thanks!

Need advice for losing weight with insulin resistance

I posted this in another subreddit, but got attacked by a troll, so I'm posting here too:

A few years ago I weighed about 170 lbs. In about a little over a year I gained over 100 lbs without any change to my diet or exercise routine.

Doctors told me over and over to cut calories and exercise more, and it didn't work. I finally found a doctor who recommended testing my insulin levels and they came back significantly elevated. Turns out my body stopped processing insulin correctly which led to the weight gain.

I'm taking medication to help my body process insulin more effectively. I cut simple carbs and switched to whole grain. I rarely eat anything sugary, not even fruit or juice. My meals are centered around protein, veggies, and maybe a complex carb like sweet potatoes. I eat until I'm full and no more. I don't really snack, and if I do, it's something healthy like nuts. I'm trying to be more physically active too despite having a sedentary job. All of this, and I haven't lost a pound.

Since gaining weight I've had health issues like hypertension, joint pain, acid reflux, and an assortment of other annoying problems. If I had only gained weight and was otherwise healthy I wouldn't be posting here, but I think I need to lose at least some of the weight so that I can alleviate these problems.

Do I need to exercise more, or differently? Change something else in my diet?

I feel like I'm not progressing, am I on track?

I've been learning to play for nearly three years, and aim to practice once or twice per week (more if my work schedule allows). And yes I have a teacher, we meet every other week.

Even so, my fingers still feel stiff and awkward on the finger board. My bowing is slow and I can't seem to find that magic place where the bow transitions seamlessly from one note to the next (there's always a pause between notes). I also play quite slowly too, if I try to move at a faster pace my fingers just... won't do it. My pinky tends to lock up too, though that could be because I'm double jointed.

I feel like I've hit a wall lately, and I'm wondering if I'm simply not doing something I should be? Or am I about where I should be?

OC by me, "Hazards of Love"

A self portrait, JoJo's style, with a stand I designed, named after the album "Hazards of Love" by The Decemberists.

I referenced a deer skull and Moody Blues to design the stand.

Can you help us find information about my husband's family crest?

This picture was taken by my husband's grandfather during a trip to Spain where his parents were from. They immigrated to the US during the Spanish Civil War. Supposedly this is an old family crest, and we're curious to learn more about it.

We don't know much, not even where the photo was taken (possibly near Madrid). I've tried looking up what the symbols mean and found a few similar looking crests, but not this one.

Can anyone help find any information on it or even just what the symbols mean? If any further information comes about from my husband's grandfather next time we speak to him, I'll keep you updated.

Thanks!

Edit: his grandfather's surname is Rodriguez if that helps, however, I've looked under this name before and couldn't find anything.

Going to a pride event for the first time, any advice?

There's going to be a lot of local vendors, good food, some music and drag shows, and a parade. I'm very excited, but I've never been before - anything I should know or expect?

"Officially" out

Hi! I just joined this subreddit. I'm 36, cis-female, and biromantic, though I frequently use biromantic and bisexual interchangeably.

So I made a cute coming out video and shared it on my socials. I wasn't sure if I should do it at all, because my closest friends have known about it since high school, but it also feels nice because I can talk about it more openly no matter whose company I'm in.

Anyways, just wanted to say hi, and Happy Pride :) hope you're all having a great day!

Where to buy pride flags?

I want to make a coming out video for pride month and I'd love to incorporate a flag or two. I was going to order from one company but I found out they use AI in their ads which is a hard pass for me.

Any recommendations for a reputable LGBTQA+ pride flag vendor?

I hit a wall in the story, how do I get things moving again?

I'm writing a romance novel, and my characters finally started dating. There was a lot of build up and tension to this moment, and now that it's happened I'm not sure how to introduce more conflict in the story, and I feel stuck. Any advice for getting through this writer's block?

Question about the flowers.

BIG SPOILER ALERT FOR PART 5:

>!What flowers do you think Giorno makes grow over Narancia's body at the end of "The Requiem Quietly Plays, Part 2"?!<

>!I've done a bit of reading online and the general consensus is that they are orange blossoms. They do look similar, but I'm curious to know other theories.!<

How to turn a sword into flowers?

I got this sword tattoo on my forearm about ten years ago, and I've since outgrown it. (There's also a quote going around the sword that's not in the picture because it could potentially identify me) The sword is about three inches long.

I would love to get a sleeve of flowers going up from my forearm to my shoulder, but a sword is a very straight, unnatural object while flowers are not.

I think the quote could be easily covered up with flowers because it's in cursive and already curly and round. It's just the sword that I'm worried about.

Also all my tattoos are black and white with not much filling. I'd also like to stay away from colors if possible.

Any ideas?

I was going through some old Pokemon cards that were stored at my parents' house, and these three seemed to be valuable based on what information I could find online. Most of the cards I found were damaged but these ones are in pretty good shape! What do you think?
