Engine Replacement?

In a tough spot and need some advice. My 2015 Subaru Crosstrek XV needs an engine replacement, $5k used or $9k new. I still owe $11k on it, and I don’t think it’s worth that much in its current state. 123k miles, used engine would be about that mileage so not really considering used. New engine puts the engine back at 0mi, but the rest of the car is still 11 years old. What should I do? My family has had bad experience with engine replacements, specifically subaru. What about y’all?

Car Financing / Debt

In a tough spot and need some advice. My 2015 Subaru Crosstrek XV needs an engine replacement, $5k used or $9k new. I’m not considering either option, I’ve had bad experiences with engine replacements and find its better to just sell the car. The bad part is I still owe $11k on it, and I don’t think it’s worth that much in its current state. I would obviously be transparent in selling. So - how much is it worth? I’m in San Diego, CA. Then, what do I do with the rest of the loan, and what car do I buy next? A beater, newer, or lease brand new? I have no savings, and will be financing any of the above options. I also have credit card debt and student debt. Thanks in advance for the advice.

Subaru Crosstrek Engine Overheating

Wondering if someone can help me understand what my mechanic is saying. Basically the engine on my 2015 Subaru Crosstrek XV overheats when sitting in traffic or sitting still without the heat on. Driving, it’s totally fine. At first my mechanic told me my radiator fans were both broken, and needed replacing. Today, he calls me and says he took a second look and the fans ARE working but there was no coolant in the radiator. He says there was actually oil residue in there. He put coolant in it but said to take it to the subaru dealership to see a specialist. What could be going on? I’m supposed to go on a roadtrip this weekend, should I drive? Maybe I was just out of coolant? Thanks in advance!

Kitty Anxiety

So, my cat (bless her) is a very anxious girl. She is 3.5 years old, I got her at 8 months. We spent a couple months trying to solve a behavioral issue of peeing outside the litter box, tried many solutions, but the only thing that worked was prozac. Since then, she has seemed less anxious and relatively normal. She has never been big on pets, but she would sometimes choose to sit on my lap or sleep on my pillow, and I could pretty much pick her up and carry her around anytime.

Recently, she started yowling when I picked her up her up, and I was worried she was in pain so I took her to the vet. Turns out she’s 100% healthy, the vet tested everything, and recommended upping her prozac dose. So she went from .25ml to .31ml (she is 7.5lbs). It’s been 1.5 months since, and she seemed to calm down somewhat, but sometimes she still gets super scared when I go to pick her up. Last night I picked her up to give her her prozac, and she screamed as loud as i’ve heard, body went stiff and i could feel her heartbeat, and she has been hiding ever since (12 hours).

She generally gets anxious around prozac time - I have to squirt it in her mouth because she refuses to take it in food or treats, so in the evenings when she knows it’s coming she gets more anxious. I feel bad that she experiences this anxiety every day. We also moved about 5 months ago, and she gained a cat roommate, as well as a different housemate (I used to live with my sister, and now I live with my girlfriend) so a lot of change has happened. That said, she loves the other cat and grooms her often, and she seems to like the new house. She doesn’t feel as comfortable with my girlfriend as she did with my sister, and she doesn’t have outside access anymore (we had a catio at the old place) so she might be feeling cooped up or understimulated.

But, generally, she is fine and comfortable unless you want to touch her. She shys away from pets, doesn’t ever hop on my lap, and of course screams in fear at getting picked up. I’ve stopped touching her for the most part, except when I need to capture her for prozac time. It makes me really sad, because I feel that we are less close and she is unhappy.

I read somewhere that there is a topical prozac that you can apply to cat’s ears - maybe this woulf help so that I don’t have to capture her every night? I’m not sure if she’s getting anxiety around touch perhaps because I have stopped touching her? I don’t want to break her trust, but maybe I need to desensitize her somehow? I’m at a loss. Any advice is appreciated, and like I said, the vet ran every test they had on her and everything came back 100% normal.
