How do you guys feel about the lightening of the Orisha's skin in diasporic Orisha practices?

Good everyone!

I am currently on a journey to try and get closer to my culture and ancestors.

I'm Afro-Carribean, so the closest practice to what many of my ancestors did is Santería. But there is one reoccurring problem I see in that community, they keep making the Orisha's skin lighter, making them almost look European.

So now I ask all of you, how do you all feel about the lightening of the Orisha's skin?

Thank you!

How does Isese feel about same-sex couples?

Hello everyone! I am currently looking into religions connected with my heritage, and Isese is the main one! As I'm researching, I have a few quesions:

How does the religion of Isese feel about same-sex couples overall?

In Isese, can a woman achieve the same status of priesthood as a man?

Why did you choose to practice Isese?

Thank you!

Hello everyone!

Does Santería also have a representative symbol? Thank you!

Are there any Orisha that must be honored before any other?

Hello everyone!

So, I'm Afro-Puerto Rican and I've been researching Lucumí for a short while now, but I've always had a question I couldn't find an answer to:

Are there any Orisha that must be honored before any other?

Besides your head Orshia of course, at first I thought you had to honor Eshu before anything, but then I heard that was only for cermony, so now I'm confused.

Thank you for the help!

Morena or trigueña?

Hello everyone!

So, I'm a no sabo who grew up in the U.S. While I was reconnecting with my heritage, I came across these describing terms like morena, trigueña, negra, jabao, ect! I noticed that across Latino American, these terms seem to have different meanings from country to country. So I wonder, what do these mean in Puerto Rico, and for fun, which ones describe me! Thank you!

My hair gets extremely dry, how do I fix this? :(

Hi ya'll!

So I got 3c/4a hair. All throughout my life I've been told to wet and brush my hair everyday in order to keep it "neat." The problem is that because I've been doing this for so long, I'm literally balding.

So! Because of that I've been trying to preserve my hair so I don't have to wash it everyday;

I've been sleeping with a bonnet every night,

After my wash day I add leave-in then add oil,

But after about day two, my hair becomes BONE DRY. I try to add oils again every morning to counteract that, but sometimes it just gets too much so I wet my hair again and end up damaging it more.

This has been really stressing me out, do ya'll have any types of hair products that could help? I think the shampoo and conditioner I use is really drying my hair out. :(
