What does optimization in Meta Ads even look like?

I'm more of a Google Ads person, so I'm not as experienced in Meta ads. When I think of Meta campaign management, I don't really see so much levers for optimizations.

Let's say the campaigns are all built and you have your tracking in place. Apart from that, is there really anything to optimize except uploading new ads and review the reports?

4 or 5 years ago when I was managing Facebook ads, we used to test ad sets (detailed audience targeting, Lookalike, etc.) as an optimization task which doesn't seem it's necessary anymore since the introduction of Advantage+.

On Google, there's really a lot that you need to keep an eye of. I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything big in terms of optimization in Meta Ads.

How do you handle Meta Ads showing only one creative and ignoring all the others?

The creative team makes a lot of effort to create multiple designs, and in the end, Meta decides to allocate more than 90% of the budget to only one creative. It's really frustrating!

There is no right or wrong answer, but I'm curious how other experts handle this situation?

I've sometimes read that people say have a second campaign for tests, and move the winner from that to the main campaign. But I really don't think that this is a practical advice for large accounts where you have many different campaigns. Plus, I don't see how it can solve the problem if at the end Meta still decides to spend the budget only on one creative in your main campaign.

Bringing paid media from agency to in-house

Has anyone had experience in bringing their paid media (Google and Meta) controlled and managed by an agency to completely in house?

How was your experience? What did you do to mitigate the risk of disruptions? How long did you take until you terminated the work with the agency?

Does Advantage+ make sense for Lookalike ad sets?

I have taken over a Meta account and in the current structure, I can see some campaigns have two ad sets (Interest targeting and Lookalike audience), and both ad sets have Advantage+ on.

If we are using Advantage+ settings, does that make sense to have a separate Lookalike ad set at all? Or is it better to turn off Advantage+ for Lookalike ad sets?

Are Detailed targeting that I add to the ad sets merely a suggestion, or do they really impact targeting?

I'm more experienced in Google Ads, and recently I've got taken over a Meta account.

In Google, there is Performance Max campaign where you can add some audience signals to give directions to targeting, but I highly doubt if that has any real impact on the actual targeting of Performance Max.

Now on Meta account that I'm managing, I see many existing ad sets are targeting some interests in detailed targeting, but the platform's note there says "your suggestions" and that "it can go beyond these suggestions if it is likely to improve the performance".

What does that mean exactly? I'm wondering if those interests targeting is only a decorative feature, maybe it's just better if I remove them and let the ad set run without any targeting?

Also, are demographic options (targeting people in a specific age range) just a suggestion too, or does Meta actually target people only in the selected age range?

Wealthsimple refuses to apply for CLB because the RESP account was opened by father

We are eligible for CLB (Canada Learning Bond) for our child, and the requirement is to open an RESP account for the child and apply through our financial organization to receive the money.

The application should be through the primary caregiver who receives Canada child benefit (which is the mother of the child).

I (father) had already opened the RESP in through my financial account when the child was born.

When I called CLB government support to ask about this, they told me that as the father who lives in the same address as the primary caregiver, I can still apply for CLB through the RESP in my financial account but I need to include Annex B form in my application.

When I ask my financial institution (Wealthsimple) to do this, they refused and said that they cannot do that "you can open a new RESP account and complete Annex B during account opening with the correct primary caregiver details."

Now, I want to understand:

How come what Wealthsimple says is different from what the government of Canada says? Are they legally allowed to refuse to apply for CLB even though I am providing all the documents and include Annex B?

I really don't want to open a second RESP account and go through headache of that.

Any way not to see job change announcements by people on my feed? 😖

Every time I open the app and I see one of these career/job change or internal promotion announcements, it makes me hate LinkedIn more and more.

Seeing content about people (who are mostly not even in my connections but somebody in my connections liked their post) being excited to announce that they got a new job is just not interesting and helpful at all.

Seriously, people don't care about anyone in the world who is not part of their family and friends getting a new corporate job in their life. I constantly mark these posts as "not interested" so that hopefully I won't see similar content on my feed anymore, but it's totally ineffective.

Just remove this cringe feature!

I get it. People are excited about getting a new job and about making money. They want to show off their success to the whole world. But honestly, nobody cares!!

Need to become strong on Meta ads

I'm very strong on Google side, but soon I will start a new job where I'm in charge of both Google and Meta for a company.

I had Meta experience in 2021 and 2022 where I was working in an agency.

At that time, there was no advantage+ and our strategies was testing ad sets based on targeting (detailed vs broad vs lookalike), and then testing creatives inside ad sets.

What are the recent strategies? I've heard that audience targeting has become very useless and you just test creatives through open targeting.

I'm curious to better understand the current strategies that people use in their companions, to get some ideas.

Maintenance plan for Corolla LE 2016 after it reaches 100,000 km mileage?

I bought a used Toyota Corolla LE 2016 last July in Canada. During the purchase, I had a 3rd party inspection and the result showed that the car was in a generally good condition.

At the time of purchase, the odometer was showing around 97,000 km and now it is around 110,000 Km.

I'm not so knowledgeable about car maintenance, so I'm trying to find out what kind of service and maintenance I should ask a mechanic to perform on my car so it can hopefully last until 200,000 km without significant problems.

I did oil change last December and the mechanic told me because they used a good quality oil (synthetic oil, I think), the next oil change should be in one year or at 10,000 km.

Apart from that, what other services does my car need at the current age and mileage?

Why do Nissans have poor reputation in North America but are so popular in Japan?

Is there a difference between Nissan cars in Japan vs North America?

I always read on Reddit that Nissans have a bad transmission and not a reliable car. Now I've been in Japan for a few weeks, and I can say Nissans are as popular as Toyotas. I think Nissan is even more popular than Honda here in Japan.

What an unexpected ad!

Searching for diapers on marketplace, and... Didn't expect to see those!

And please don't tell me that the ads are based on my interests... Because this is perhaps a global interest for every man on Earth!

Aviation Management and Operations program - any reviews or insights?

I couldn't find many posts and comments about this program at BCIT.

Overall, will this program be helpful in finding a stable career in airport and aviation industry after graduation?

The fact that it's part of the Trade program at BCIT gives me hope, but the "management and operation" term just makes me worried that it might be another useless general management program.

Has anyone completed this program that can share their insights? OR anyone currently in the program?

Do I need to remove the battery if the car is going to be parked for six weeks?

Going on a travel for 6 weeks. Do I need to take battery off my Corolla 2016, or is it ok to leave it just parked for six weeks?
