Looking at trying to take a road trip to check out a few new parks. I want to hit up Great Escape and especially La Ronde before they’re no longer part of my pass (though with Great Escape I could just buy a MAdv pass). How feasible would these be to do in 2-3 days coming from SE Michigan? I’d probably also stop at CanW to break up the driving a bit, but it’s my second closest park (probably moving my pass to there as it’s closer than KI) so I don’t need to ride everything there.
My partner brought up the idea of going to Toronto this weekend on an impulse for my 30th birthday as I have never been outside the US before. I think on Sunday we’re planning on going around the city and going to a Blue Jays game, so we’re thinking about going to Canada’s Wonderland on Saturday, which obviously isn’t my preferred day to go, but it’s what works with our schedule unless I can get Monday night off.
For my KI pass, I haven’t used either of my BAF tickets yet. I can use them at any current Six Flags park, right? So just no Enchanted or La Ronde? I want to drag him to more parks lol, but he refuses to get a season pass as he got one years ago and never used it.
Will I get parking with my Prestige pass or no? I’ve seen conflicting information.
What’s the best attack plan for the coasters? I assume AlpenFury first. Any rides that open early for passholders?
Would buying daily Fast Lane be worth it? I really regret not impulse buying KI’s All Season FL when it was still listed for $650. I told myself it was going to be cheaper. And now it feels like I might as well wait if I’m going to get it as 2026 pass sales should be here in a month and a half, assuming they aren’t completely going away in favor of memberships.
What’s the best places to get food with a dining plan? We’ll probably also get an all day plan in addition to my all season.
Is Splash Works worth going to, or is it best to stick to the dry park?
My partner is on the bigger side, 6’2 and 300 pounds. I’m also 5’10 and around 240. Any rides we need to avoid? I can fit on everything at KI and Cedar Point, but my partner had a bit of an issue on Banshee but it was due to his sweatshirt zipper pocket not allowing the restraint to close. We didn’t even try FoF with him as the wait for that is too much to likely do the walk of shame.
Anything else good to know? Thanks in advance!
My 2016 Civic crapped out on me so I’m looking for something different. Rented a K4 the other week and I loved it! Got some questions though.
I’m considering the following cars as well:
* Priuses
* Corolla (regular and hybrid)
* Civic hybrid
* Bolt
* Equinox EV
* Escape Hybrid/PHEV
* Kia/Hyundai EVs
* I’d also consider hybrid/PHEVs from Kia, but the options available seem out of my price range. Maybe I’m missing ones that are in it.
One of my primary concerns is gas mileage, especially right now. I know the K5 is less efficient than the K4, but is it still reasonably efficient in the real world?
Looks like locally I’m able to get CPO K5s. Seems like this would be a great option as long as I get a low mileage one, as I would get the remainder of the Kia warranty. Is the K5 worth the extra money in gas I’d be spending?
Also, why does neither car have a hybrid option? Hyundai has it in the Elantra and Sonata.

Long story short, I’ve been having issues with my car, and I ended up losing all acceleration last week. Took it into a shop where a family friend works and they said it has a blown head gasket. They said I should get the whole engine replaced. For a used 62k-mile engine plus a new turbo, they quoted it at $9600. They said an equivalent service from the dealer would be over $13k. It does need roughly an additional $1k in repairs and maintenance on top of that, but they said it looks pretty good for its mileage (170k).
A couple things though:
This is a lot of money to put into a car with this much mileage. I know the engine provides somewhat of a reset, but this car has been used in the winter in Indiana and Michigan so I’m not sure if rust would be an issue. The KBB value is around $12.5k. I also still owe $2.8k on it. I feel like if I trade it in, I obviously wouldn’t get that full amount out of it, but I’d get something, since the dealer wouldn’t be paying full cost for the repairs.
Gas prices skyrocketing also have me concerned. Obviously I, with a Civic, am going to fare better than someone who has an F150, but it’s still something I’m thinking about. If I get a different car, I’d definitely at least be looking at getting a hybrid or PHEV, but ideally I’d get a full electric.
So, what should I do? Should I drop the money to repair this car, or is it time to move on?
