...Will sneezing hurt forever?
Nearly 12 weeks out from a T4-L3 fix - is sneezing always going to hurt like a mofo? 😩 I've caught my first cold since the operation and am not having the best time. TIA!

Big shout out to u/aziza29 whose mobility video gave me such a helpful visualisation of what to expect with this level of hardware. Thank you! And thank you for this sub.
I'm really chuffed with how the correction turned out, given my age (I was 36 when it was fused on 13 July!). My rib hump has totally gone but my right shoulder blade still sticks out. I never really minded how it looked, I did this to stop progression.
I was in the hospital 8 nights (I developed an ileus which lengthened my stay). I'm taking paracetamol only (think you call that tylenol in the states). Done via the NHS in the UK.
I'm getting by pretty well, so far. The raised toilet seat and a grab bar next to my bed have been the two most helpful things! The last of my steri strips finally fell off today.
Happy to answer any questions 💜
I'm 37F (was 36 when I had the operation 3 weeks ago). I'm so pleased with the level of correction, given my age. My rib cage has been derotated, which feels and looks so much better.
I had surgery on Monday 13 July.
The steri strips are starting to fall off! The incision is so tidy I might not even be left with much of a cool scar after all.
Pain meds-wise I'm taking 1g paracetamol x3 a day. I can shower and dress, make snacks and drinks independently, though I need to lie down after doing much of anything since I get overheated and out of breath easily.
I'm pleased with how things are going so far! Happy to answer any questions.
The eyeshadow palette is some c-beauty dupe of rom&nd's dusty fog garden. I absolutely love it and it only cost me £6. Performs astonishingly well on top of an eyelid primer.
My Benefit travel mini dandelion blush is still going strong at 18 months! It's not entirely the best shade for me, I'd like to try milani after I use this one up. I love how the pan makes the blush look like a beach.
I had a long fusion (early T's to L's) to correct scoliosis on 13 July.
My GOD I feel amazing after my first full shower (i.e. letting the water touch it for the first time since surgery). I'd kept it dry and bandaged til today.
I've not redressed my surgical site, I'm going to let it breathe and allow for some of these hundreds of steristrips to drop off!
Just wanted to share my joy. Feeling fully clean is something I'll never take for granted again.
I had my surgery Monday 13 July in the UK (early Ls to early Ts, I was a bit drugged up and forgetful when the surgeon told me the exact levels).
Considering I'm 36 years old, the correction was excellent and I've gained 2.5 inches in height.
I experienced ileus and related gastro infection (very painful) as a consequence of the surgery which lengthened my stay in the hospital. Got discharged on Tuesday 21st July!
I stopped opioids on Wednesday 15th due to the ileus and I am getting by okay on paracetamol and ibuprofen. I'll drop the ibuprofen in a few days.
Feeling so grateful to have finally had the surgery! AMA and I'll do my best to answer.
Sad congratulations if so, you've beaten my record. This is driving me to a really sad and frustrating place.
I've had dates set for February, March, June and now the latest is mid July. I feel so hopeless having to go through this terrible cycle of psychological preparation, let alone the logistics of planning my life around a 3 month break from work (getting someone to cover, my husband getting time off work, financial planning etc etc the list goes on). I've had to do three fucking pre-op assessments because they keep expiring.
My life has been on a total hold for 6 months.
Has this happened to anyone else? Anyway, just wanted to vent. I'm sad and angry.
It's lined and has darts! I made it over the course of two days. I found the process quite challenging and I don't think it's perfect by any means, but it's wearable and I'm super proud of how it turned out!
I started mounjaro in May 2024. I hit goal in December 2024 and have been maintaining since then at 10mg.
My initial motivation was to lose weight for spinal fusion surgery (should happen in July).
Stats before MJ:
175lbs / 12.5 stone
5' 3" tall
31 BMI
Stats now:
120lbs / 8.5 stone
21.3 BMI
Still the same height... but ask me again after the spinal fusion 😆 I'm hoping 5'4" at least!
My back pain (from scoliosis) has drastically reduced, including hip pain from functional leg length caused by scoliosis.
More importantly I'm not constantly plagued by food noise. I feel so free.
Thanks for reading, happy to answer any questions. 💜
My original February date got postponed 3 days beforehand. Then the March date was postponed, too. So glad to have a new date (beginning of June). Life had really felt on hold and I'd been unable to plan anything. Yay for me 🙌
