What is your favorite little thing in the genre?

For me, my absolute favorite thing is when things on a character sheet combine. Merging skills, fusing mutations and changing your race, proficiencies merging to form a broader one, you name it. It gives my brain a tiny dopamine boost every single time.

What layout do y'all use for you water bases?

Do you build the full foundation out to the circle and make a giant single building? Or do you make multiple buildings on it? Or do you make multiple platforms connected by bridges?

What's your favorite main base location?

I struggle to find a place to put my main base, never finding that right mix of scenic, big enough, flat enough, and "defensible." What are some great spots you have all found?

Looking for more Summoner/Tamer series.

I just caught up on all of the Arcanist books, Nightmare Realm Summoner, and a couple others like Book of the Dead and Chrysalis. I'm looking for something where the summons/creatures are the main source of the MCs power, not like just a companion.

[TOMT] TV Show where characters are discussing the perfect place to move in relation to relatives.

I remember one character drawing circles on a map, saying the golden area was being far enough away that family wouldn't make spontaneous trips to them, but close enough that they wouldn't stay the night if they did.

Moonlight Peaks- How's the gameplay?

What's the consensus on the gameplay?

  1. How's the farming compared to other games in the genre?

  2. Will we have to toil and sweat to fix up the farm and town?

  3. How are the side activities? I see some decorating and a card game, but what else is there?

  4. How does vampire themes effect gameplay mechanics? I see we get magic watering cans and become a bat, but is there anything else?

Am I missing anything by not playing the demo?

I'm just wondering if the content in the demo will be in the main game, or if it is a true prologue with unique content.

Something to scratch that RPG lifesim itch.

[STEAM] I'm looking for something to scratch a particular itch. Something like Harvestella, Rune Factory 4, or Fantasy Life. Farming isn't necessary, but I dont want gameplay limited to just combat and exploration. I want to be able to have a "home" I can return to and improve. But I do want combat still.

Are any of the Webtoon adaptations any good?

I recently noticed DotF, Primal Hunter, and Mark of the Fool got webtoon adaptations. If anyone has read them, are they any good? Do they stick to the source material well?

What is your biggest pet peeve in the entire genre?

My biggest pet peeve is, if you have stats, explain what the numbers do! Oh, the mc has a 3 in Strength. What does the average person have? What does each point do for his strength? It gets to a point where you see character start with like 5 strength, get it up to like 100 and they aren't at superhuman strength yet. Or you see someone go from 5 to 20 and they are superhuman. Also, I hate when they can get "more" out of their numbers. DOTF annoyed me with that. Oh I have 20 strength and he has 20 strength but I'm stronger because my 20 is worth more than his 20.

I don't care if it's lore accurate or not, I want my Gore Magala monstie.

I think the whole "Canon vs noncanon" argument to be a bit dumb for Stories, because they aren't mainline games. The power of friendship is a real thing in these games. Why can't the power of friendship soothe the chaos of literally the coolest monster in all of Monster Hunter? It sure does calm down the Bloodbath Diablos and the Deviljho. And I don't think you can use the argument of "they aren't born that way." Nerscyllas aren't born with gypceros or khezu hide, but they still get that. Deadeye Yian Garuga isn't born that way.

Sorry for the rant, but I just want my chaotic boy.

Best way to raise skills from 0?

  1. Shooting and Melee are pretty easy, just hunt and hit.

  2. Construction- building stuff.

  3. Cooking- I hear doing it on a campfire levels you more than a stove because it's slower, is this true?

  4. Plants- chopping, planting, and harvesting.

  5. Animals-I have no idea how to raise this from 0. This one is my biggest issue.

  6. Art and crafting- I assume repetition?

  7. Medical- harvest prisoner blood

  8. Mining- mining

  9. Social- talk to prisoner. He can't leave me

  10. Intellectual-reading and research

Are there better ways or tips you all have for this?
