Thoughts on Unworthiness?
Copy and pasted from the original thread posted in r/Christianity:
How does everyone feel about prayers that imply you're unworthy of God? I'm agnostic with a heavy leaning towards Buddhism and eastern theology after discovering empathogens and psychedelics in my late teens paired with Alan Watts and Terence McKenna lectures and discussions, as well as some simple spirituality books like The Power of Now. I've been dabbling in Christianity lately, as my family goes to church and often talks about God, but whenever I get into Christian literature and other people's interpretations of the bible I feel so phony... like I'm trying to get myself to believe something that deep down I feel isn't true.
I've been using the free version of Hallow for some simple prayers here and there and found some of them to be good, but I decided to join the free trial after seeing a "21 day prayer challenge" on the frontpage and thought I might benefit from it. The first day's audio bit ends with the featured guest (a coach of some sort) asking to follow along as they pray. They talk about being unworthy of God in the prayer and this theme is carried throughout, talking about being indecisive (relatable) and not being perfect but trying to become perfect (somewhat relatable, I know I'll never be perfect), and it's mentioned again how he/we aren't worthy -- verbatim, "I'm not even worthy." It even starts with saying "Lord, I feel I don't deserve what you bestowed upon me."
This isn't the first time I've seen this type of talk. I get that humans inherently have sinful behavior, but just saying "God, I'm not worthy" doesn't feel right for me. I already struggle with mental health at times, and talking like this just seems like I'm putting myself down, or trying to knock my ego down when I really don't need that to happen. If this is a common theme with Christianity, I'm not sure it's for me at all. What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks in advance!
Warning
I can't upload a picture directly to this post for whatever reason, but I went to pre-order Huberman's Protocols book and noticed the second option down the list of searching "protocols by Andrew Huberman" shows a book with the same color scheme and an orange circle called something like "The Science Behind Andrew Huberman's Protocols."
This doesn't appear to be an accident at all. It's also cheaper, so someone who isn't paying attention and just wants the best bang for their buck might unwittingly choose it. No clue if it's any good, it has 217 pages so there's definitely something there... I'd just rather get the book created by Huberman himself.
Hope this is helpful. 🥂
I was a little hungry when I ordered all of this. 😅
4-packs, 5-packs, a 16-pack, and a 10-pack of Neoguri that turned into 2 in a week. 🤤 I shall grow this collection.
I rarely listen to DTFH ever since solo episodes became a thing.
I don't know if anyone else is going to agree with this, but I really feel like the solo episodes should be their own spinoff podcast or maybe just stay on YouTube. I get there are some hardcore Duncan fans out here who love every second of content they can get, but I've listened to Duncan for at least five years now and miss the old format. Having frequent guests made this podcast worth listening to, and if you wanted more content you could check out The Leather Rose or Duncan on someone else's podcast.
There are so many good podcasts out there that can genuinely teach you something or offer some fresh perspectives. I like Duncan's humor, but not so much that it's the only thing I want to listen to every few days.
It doesn't really feel like a change for quality control, but rather a change made so Duncan can earn more money. That's all fine and dandy, but it feels like it's coming at the expense of DTFH.
Maybe some of you can relate, maybe not. Just wanted to get this off my chest.
I had to order this from Walmart as soon as I saw it: Buldak Truffle Spicy Ramen
I ordered this on Walmart last night and got free shipping because of my Walmart+ subscription. They had it at a local store and dropped it off like it was a grocery delivery just now. Nice little 10pm treat.
Even better is these are marked "Made in South Korea."
Am I the only one who's super grateful for the Borrow feature?
When I first got the feature, my limit was low... something like $30, maybe even lower. With almost each borrow successfully paid back, it almost always got bumped up $25 or so. Now I'm at $175 a few months later. Nothing crazy, but my point is I'm grateful for this feature and think it's a great service if used properly. My feed often shows posts from this subreddit complaining about getting stuck in a bad cycle.
I only pick the one repayment option, splitting it into 4 or taking a cut out of each transaction feels tedious and defeating. That's just me though.
And yeah I obviously know that I'm going to need to catch up eventually, but for the time being it has been a great support line.
PSA: You can reset the billing cycle due date on your online Metro account.
A quick Google search currently states that you can't do it yourself, but I did it from the app the other day. Wish I knew this before as I ended up getting a couple of weeks out of a full month's payment a couple of cycles back.
Quick vouch for the $10 monthly insurance.
I broke the replacement device's screen I paid $25 for within a few days of receiving it... my second claim was approved for the same price and was received the following day for the second time within a month. I was convinced I would end up owing more if I even still had the insurance available, but unlimited appears unlimited so far, lol.
The device is a Motorola G 2025, so I'm not saving a huge amount of money, but definitely is cheaper than what I would have paid without insurance. It has barely been over half a year since I started with Metro.
