Dammit, Anthropic - Fable filters

Anthropic said they fixed Fable's biology filters. Although I can now say "hi" to Fable without disabling memory, I haven't been able to use it at all for actual work. I've tried asking about statistical approaches to a mouse metabolomics dataset, visualizing mouse brain RNAseq data, and simply reviewing a manuscript draft on circadian rhythms, and *every single request* has been flagged and switched to Opus 5.

This is ridiculous. If your model is smart enough to be dangerous, it's also smart enough to know that revising a manuscript draft or evaluating statistical approaches to a MOUSE dataset isn’t a biosafety risk. I'm not asking to generate novel sequences or plan experiments or even analyze data, and I'm a neuroscientist--there isn't anything remotely adjacent to dual-use in my memory.

Not to mention the fall-back to Opus 5. That model is a hot mess and I don’t want its verbal diarrhea and confidently incorrect assumptions anywhere near a manuscript.

Fix this, please. I hate having to go to GPT for scientific work.

Reddit blocking NordVPN servers?

Unless I log in, I can't browse reddit at all as long as NordVPN is connected--I get a "you have been blocked by network security" until I disconnect the VPN. Previously I've been able to get around this by changing servers, but today I tried multiple protocols (Auto, OpenTCP, NordWhisper) through multiple countries (Canada, Sweden, Norway), plus multiple US servers including Burlington, Boston, and NY. Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a solution other than logging in? Waterfox browser on Android.

Can't connect to US servers on work networks

I'm from the US, currently working in Sweden. I have NordVPN on my phone, and usually use a US server (content access). For the past two days I haven’t been able to connect to any NordVPN US server at work using any protocol (including Nordwhisper), whether I use the work, guest, or eduroam wifi networks, but can connect to servers from other countries (have tried Sweden and Canada)

Is this a geo-block, or are NordVPN's US IP addresses being blocked specifically for some reason? Is there any way around this?

Edit- this includes obfuscated servers

Private NPF (autism/ADHD) adult support agencies in Stockholm?

I'm trying to help my friend (adult woman with NPF diagnosis) find a private support agency to assist with things like occupational therapy, finding an apartment, going for walks, stuff like that. She tried going through Region Stockholm services but they were too overloaded to provide the type of support she needs. Can anyone recommend any services for me to look into?

Why is Claude using usage credits when I haven't hit session or weekly limits?

I'm in Claude Code on Opus 4.6, at 25% of my session limit and 44% of my weekly limit. My last prompt to re-write a very small section of code cost $4.60 and I can't do anything if I turn usage credits off even though I clearly have plenty of usage left. What do I do?

Edit: every other time I've hit session limits, I get a notification that further prompts will cost money. This happened silently, I only noticed because I went to check usage and suddenly saw the credits jump with my next prompt. It's also NOT using the free $100 in credits Anthropic gave out--it's using up fhe monthly limit I set first. Do I contact Anthropic? Is this happening to anyone else?

Edit 2: It is NOT Fable ... I'm analyzing biological data, and can't use Fable anyway because scientist

Chester Bennington died 9 years ago today

I can't believe it's been 9 years already. Linkin Park's music got me through some hard times, and the shock of hearing about his death felt just like Kurt all over again. RIP, Chester

Scientist's view - the BS of F@ble "too dangerous for science" now that Sol and Kimi K3 available

I'm a scientist (genetics, neuroscience). Claude has full cross-chat access, and it's obvious that I don’t do anything even remotely bioterror adjacent. I analyze RNAseq and methylomics data related to the brain and circadian rhythms. I use my university email, and my affiliation is in my preferences. I'm a known quantity. Yet I can't even say "hi" to F@ble without using an incognito chat--and if I do, and Fable says, "do you want to talk about your neuroscience work?" anything back from me gets booted to Opus.

Anthropic put these safety classifiers in *before* the government got involved--they weren't added as a requirement to get Fable out of lockup. Both GPT Sol and Kimi K3 have no limits, yet the classifiers for Fable haven’t been revised. Now that Anthropic has announced that they're getting into the drug research business, it feels a bit anti-competitive for them to gate-keep the best model to their scientific research partners (you need an Enterprise ID to apply for the trusted access science program, I don't know a single research scientist with one).

I vastly prefer Claude's "personality" over the others (except for Sonnet 5). I like that Anthropic conducts a lot of interesting AI research. I might have even upgraded to Max to pay for Fable. But I'm sick of this crap. If Sol and K3 aren't "too dangerous," Fable isn’t either.

Anyone reporting responses? Does it matter?

I think a lot of us are frustrated with the new safety guardrails--has anyone been flagging annoying/wrong responses to send to Anthropic? Does it make any difference?

I'm not even thinking of it from a companion perspective--it's interfering with my work (science). Also, I have autism and spend half my life trying to translate my thoughts so that they make sense to regular people. It's exhausting, and it's exhausting now that I have to carefully phrase what I say for Claude too. Ime Claude's by far the best for scientific research, but if they take away the 4.6 models and keep releasing models like Opus 4.8 and Sonnet 5, I'm out.

Edit: I hear Fable is better, but with Anthropic branching into drug development, I doubt they'll let scientists use it, which limits me to Sonnet/Opus

International pet transport company recommendations?

I moved from the east coast to Sweden a while a back and left my cats with my parents to bring over when I found a place. My father has had a fall and is now too frail to travel. I'm looking for pet transport companies now ... any recommendations or warnings?

Where is the Gen Z (musical) rage about the world?

We and the Boomers had loads of well-known angry musicians talking politics in their music, and many more less well-known ones. Springsteen and RATM are still showing up to play protests. Even though Gen Z should be even angrier than we were about the state of politics and the environment, I don't hear it in their music. What's going on?
