Fare Enforcement Needs to Be Taken Seriously!

Edit: Public Transportation Needs Better Security
( I think the bigger issue is that public transportation needs better security. Whether that’s through better fare enforcement, more security personnel, or a combination of both, the goal should be preventing disruptive and dangerous behavior.

As someone else pointed out, the argument isn’t that everyone who evades the fare commits crimes. Most don’t. The point is that many people who commit crimes on transit also bypass the fare, so reducing fare evasion can be one tool to improve safety.

My concern has always been about the behavior, not someone’s income or housing status. I just want people to be able to get to work or school without being threatened or dealing with aggressive intoxicated passengers or drug-related incidents.

Original Post:
I rely on public transportation every day and buy the $80 monthly pass because it’s how I get to work. I regularly ride the 4, 6, 15, 28, and 47, and lately the situation has become really frustrating.
It feels like fare enforcement has become almost nonexistent. I constantly see people riding without paying, and while I don’t care if someone genuinely can’t afford the fare, I do care when some of those riders are creating unsafe conditions for everyone else.

I’ve dealt with aggressive intoxicated passengers, people obviously under the influence, screaming matches, and even drug use and drug-related incidents on the bus. Paying customers shouldn’t have to worry about being harassed or feeling unsafe just trying to get to work.

When people who repeatedly cause disturbances can ride without paying or consequences, it drives away the people who actually depend on and financially support the system. That’s not good for riders, drivers, or the transit agency.

Has anyone else who rides the 4, 6, 15, 28, or 47 noticed this getting worse? I’d like to see better fare enforcement and more visible transit security so people can ride safely without dealing with this every day.

Do y’all think this couple will fall apart while in Villa?

Do y’all think KC and TiTi’s relationship is eventually going to fall apart while in the Villa?

I can’t lie, I want to see KC get his karma after the way he handled everything with Aniya.

The way he treated Aniya, switched up behind her back, and then acted like her concerns were overblown when they ended up being true has made me really dislike him.

What’s everyone’s theory on how their relationship plays out?

Also, if Carl comes back and him and Aniya end up being a fan favorite, do y’all think KC will finally feel some regret? I wonder if seeing Aniya genuinely happy, loved by viewers, and potentially thriving with someone else would make him realize what he lost, or if he’ll just keep pretending he made the right choice.

Curious to hear everyone’s predictions because I feel like things could get interesting. 👀

Looking for LGBTQ+ friendly destinations for a proposal

Hi everyone,

I’m starting to plan a proposal for my girlfriend about a year and a half from now, and I’d love some recommendations for romantic destinations outside of the United States.

We’re a couple from the U.S., and we’re both Black women. Finding a beautiful location is important, but honestly, feeling safe and welcomed is even more important. I’d hate to spend months planning a special moment only to realize afterward that the area isn’t very accepting of LGBTQ+ people or minorities.

I’m looking for communities, towns, cities, destinations, parks, or public spaces that are known for being LGBTQ+ friendly and generally welcoming to people of color. Bonus points if you’ve personally witnessed same-sex proposals, weddings, or LGBTQ+ celebrations there and felt the atmosphere was genuinely supportive.

We’re open to suggestions both within the U.S. I’d especially love to hear from LGBTQ+ couples, interracial couples, or other minority travelers who have firsthand experience.

What places made you feel comfortable, safe, and celebrated rather than just tolerated?

Thank you!

Rant: Teen Program

Before anyone misunderstands me, I think encouraging young people to exercise is a great thing. More teens being active, learning healthy habits, and feeling comfortable in a gym is something I fully support.

My issue isn’t that teenagers are there. My issue is that at my location, the gym has increasingly become a hangout spot rather than a fitness center. Groups of teens often sit on machines scrolling through their phones, occupy equipment for long periods without actually using it, leave weights unracked, leave yoga mats and other equipment out, and sometimes act disrespectfully toward adults who are trying to work out.

I’ve tried adjusting my schedule and even going around 10 PM, but the aftermath is still there. Equipment is left scattered around, and the gym often feels less maintained than it did before the program started.

I don’t blame all teens. I’ve seen plenty of respectful young people working out seriously. I think the real issue is that Planet Fitness needs better supervision, enforcement of gym etiquette, and more staff presence during the summer program.

**The reason I’m even making this post is because today I watched a group of teenage boys openly mocking and laughing at a man while he was working out. Thankfully, I don’t think the man noticed, but I did. Looking around the gym, I saw groups of 3-6 teens scattered throughout the facility, and many of them weren’t actually exercising or using the space effectively.

Started a new position: Snap Case Manager.
Essentially, I work with people who have SNAP benefits and help them find employment.

I’ve been here 3 days, and I’m starting to get New Job blues. Last night it was hard to sleep anticipating today, and I’m getting a little worried about my anxiety being that I have a history of letting anxiety run me away from jobs.

Before this job I worked with my mom at our family business. However, I have a degree in Social work and should really put it to use but I get anxious in social work job settings.
