Hollywood, Ending your Winston-Salem stop

I’ve posted about this on Blue Sky but truly never want to stop talking about amazing last night was. I started watching VlogBrothers with my mom in middle school, I also started reading John’s books then. What started off as great reading and two funny guys sending vlogs back and forth has fundamentally changed me as a person. It has gently guided me to not let the hardships in life lead me to grow cold and cynical. It has taught me to find joy in all things. To never stop asking questions and learning. This community has been so important to me and I just wanted to tell you all, including John and Hank, thank you and I love you.

Anytime in a live stream or video or whatever, when we all type we’re here because I always quietly sing it to myself and feel comforted and a sense of togetherness, but I truly did not expect how impactful it would be to hear a full chapel singing it together. To see the look on John’s face as we all sang. I had to stop singing at one point because I started crying. I took a few pictures but knew I would want to spend the evening off my phone just soaking it in, however when John told us we were going to sing, I took a video. To be able to capture that collective joy, love, and togetherness was incredible. I’ve had a pretty hard year, but knowing I now have physical proof of the kind of love that connects us all that I can go back to when needed is so so so special.

Thank you to every single Nerdfighter who was there last night, and so many others who I love in this space. DFTBA. we’re here because…

Washi tape sample boards

Does anyone have suggestions of where one can buy washi tape samplers like the one pictured? I love the idea of being able to try out multiple designs without having 18 millions half used rolls of tape haha. The place I usually buy from is out of stock right now :/

One month in!

One month with my botany green and rustic rose trifold, featuring the water spot that I didn’t find until it was too late 🫣 crazy how I’ve only become more obsessed with it.

UPDATE: https://www.reddit.com/r/stationery/s/Ny92exKmZb

Thank you so much to everyone who gave me suggestions on my last post! I tried both filling an empty cartridge and that helped some but ultimately it was adding the tiniest dot of dawn dish soap that ultimately saved this ink for me. Now it writes beautifully! Thank you thank you!

New pen and ink day didn’t turn out as expected

Grabbed the Pilot Prera in honey yellow and some diamine Lady Grey as a birthday present to myself in my first order from Atlas Stationers. So far the prera is a little harder to write with than my Kakuno, almost like I have to press harder to write anything and it gets drier the longer I write? My Kakuno has iroshizuku shin-Kai in it which is a darker color than lady grey so it may just be that. I gave it some time upside down to see if that would help and also shook it and neither helped. So I flushed the pen completely and have it drying over night, in the morning I’ll try again and see if flushing helped. I also posted this in r/fountainpens and someone said they’ve had better luck syringe filling cartridges bc the con-40 converter isn’t great with some drier inks so I also have syringes on the way. Fingers crossed something works because I really love the color of Lady Grey. The third picture shows what I mean by it got drier as I kept writing.

New ink day!

This is my first “fun” color in my pen it’s Pilot’s Iroshizuku Shin-Kai! I’m loving how it dries to a more muted blue and can’t wait to get even more fun inks(thinking a nice yellow) as a birthday treat later this week!

I swatched it last night but today if my first time really using it haha

Fixing glass lampshade pieces

Hello! I recently purchased this Tiffany style lamp that I absolutely LOVE but there are a few pieces that are cracked and im wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to reinforce them so there is no further damage. I’m most concerned about the two white pieces at the top as they seem the worst of the 4 places, but picture are attached of all four cracked places. Thank you so much in advance!

Devotional suggestions

Hi all! I (25f) have been going through a really rough 6months with intense anxiety and depression, as a result of this I have taken to journaling throughout my days but also reading a devotional and journaling about it at night before bed. The one I am currently reading is Stop The Spiral by Jennie Allen, it’s been mostly okay a few one off things that have made me go hmm but overall pretty good, and situationally relatable for me. However I’m about to finish it and am in search for a new daily devotional that could either be mental health specific or less topically focused. I picked up a copy of A Long Obedience in the Same Direction by Peterson on recommendation from my pastor, it’s not specifically a devotional but can be read like one. It seemed interesting to be because I am currently having what I am calling an “analog summer” where I’m journaling, reading, crafting, and doing puzzles to take time away from my phone. However it’s only 16 days worth of material and I would like to have something lined up to start after that too. Sorry that was kinda word vomit but just wasn’t sure if anyone here had any suggestions. Thanks!

My first fountain pen!

I just got my first paper republic journal earlier this week and now I have this cutie little pen to write with! It’s my first time writing with a fountain pen but it’s so much smoother than I thought it would be compared to my uniball zento gel pen!

My first paper republic!

I’m obsessed and can’t wait to fully break it in and start naturally collecting little things to keep inside! Also if you have any good gel pen recommendations lmk, I tried the zebra Sansa grand but it’s too skinny for my liking so now I’m on the hunt for a “cute” gel pen lol
