Repairing parking damage/scratch

Repairing parking damage/scratch

So, it finally happened, when backing into my parking spot...

Honestly, I'm extremely happy that I only damaged my own car and no one else and no one else's car. Quite grateful here.

Now, since it annoys me looking at it, I want to quickly repair the damage. Anything in particular to have in mind for someone who hasn't done this sort of thing before? I assume it's about 500 CHF worth of repair. Is it realistic? Is it likely I get "surprised"?

Any red flags in Carroserie shops I should beware about?

Thanks a lot

Self-picking apples

Hi. Do you know any farms or gardens, ideally not very far from the Zürich area, that allow self-picking of apples?

Normally I guess it's a bit later in the year, but probably with the heat waves we have them ripen earlier this year.

Thanks a lot

"Grandfathers" from request-based era: Time to move on with the new Luna pricing?

Hi. I kept my annual plan which will expire in January, only for the 60 GPT5.4 requests per month (and casual Haiku/MAI-Flash uses), which still looked like a good deal in June, for my use cases.

But now in August, and particularly with the new pricing of Luna models, this seems to NOT be the case anymore. In almost any benchmark, GPT5.4 is behind or at the same level as Luna High/xHugh (and not even Max), and Luna is now so cheap I have to try hard to spend more than 20 AICs in one request. And it is smart (-enough for my use cases).

I use Luna at work, and used it personally via OpenRouter too, and can confirm benchmark results.

What do you think? Has anyone else changed their decision on GHCP adoption based on Luna? Also worth considering that we multiplier-based users will not receive any other new models, it seems...

Thanks

Recycling Paper in Arbitrary Days

Hi. Is there any place/container etc anywhere in the Zürich city, where I can recycle paper in any time of the week?

I mean something like those glass/metal containers in Hardbrücke station but for paper (and ideally cardboard).

Thanks

Is it possible to add seats to a car?

Hi. A long shot I know and the answer is very likely negative, I assume, but stil asking.

Is there a legal possibility to (temporarily) add one or two seats to a station, normally 5-seater car, by utilising the trunk room?

Obviously I mean in a way approved by the authorities and somehow mentioned in the gray card. And assuming the trunk is big enough to handle it.

Thanks.

Who are the providers of Cline models?

Hello. When I login to Cline (the VSCode extension), I can "charge" my account and use some LLMs with the Pay-as-You-Go approach.

However, nowhere in the website can I find a complete list of available models, their providers, or. their pricing, speed etc.

Am I missing something here? I can see the token cost of models in the extension itself, but that's pretty much it. Of course I'm not talking about the new Cline Pass offer. That one seems to be slightly more clear.

What is "Mercury Alpha Preview"?

Hi. Just noticed a new model called "Mercury Alpha Preview" in my model list, with an interesting 1x multiplier and 400K context. Anybody knows what it is? Is it another "bug" soon to be fixed, or we grandfathers can have some hope that multiplier-based subscribers get a new model?

Thanks

Is DeepSeek v4 (Flash) really extremely cheap to run? If yes, how?

Hi. I don't have a GPU. So my biggest "local LLM" experience has been running ~26B models with single-digits tps values.

However, the "serving economy" of DSv4 models look like a riddle to me. The Flash model has 284B parameters, but providers (e.g. OpenRouter) charge so little for it it's ridiculous. It's for example cheaper than 27B Qwen, A tenth of its (total) size! How is it viable?

Are the providers just doing dumping here? Or is DSv4 architecture somehow different in making it extremely cheaper to serve? Those of you who have had the equipment to host DSv4, is there something making it different?

Thanks

Any news about MAI Thinking?

Hi. I finally got MAI Flash this week(!!) on my annual multiplier-based plan, and now am waiting for this MAI Thinking that was announced also on April, hopefully with a decent multiplier. Is there any news on its availability, or even better, some open-source models being added to the mix, as the staff have been saying here for some time?

Thanks

Why isn't there an Istanbul" located at Gibraltar?

Hi. Just saw this post, which made think that the Gibraltar can be considered a bigger, or at least about as big a chokepoint compared to Bosphorus and Dardanelles of Istanbul. But There isn't a metropolitan area in either side of it.

Is it because Gibraltar wasn't that import before the new world was discovered? Or some geographical features of the area itself?

Thanks

DeepSeek v4 Pro is too big for such a "midrange" performance, or am I missing something?

Hi.

DeepSeek v4 Pro has 1.6T parameters, probably the largest in open models, or at least one of the largest.

Yet it's not the best/most performance open model, considering a wide variety of definitions of "best". Indeed, in most cases, it is not the second best, third best, or fourth best either.

GLM 5.1 with 750B parameters is less than half the size of it, but is considered by many "an opus" in open models. So is Kimi K2.6, with 1T models, still far less than 1.T of DSv4 Pro. Now we have K2.7 and GLM 5.2, apparently of the same size as their predecessors, but improving the performance even further.

We also have MiniMax M3, recently revealed to be ~450-ish billions of parameters, and a better performance in many benchmarks and use cases. And finally there is MiMo v2.5 pro, also ranking higher than DSv4 Pro in benchmarks, but charged by cloud providers at the same price and being also in the 1T parameter range.

So, what am I missing? Is DeepSeek v4 Pro really "living up to the hype", or we can say it's indeed too big for a "just okay"/mediocre performance? Or maybe it's because of being "preview" and we should wait more? Or as many say (and I fully agree), it's the Huawei-based inference that matters this time, not the model scores? Anything else?

Thanks.

P.S. My point is not about DSv4 Flash at all! It is indeed much slimmer and giving a quite impressive "performance per weight".

Is the cache "reset" when starting a new session?

Hi. Sorry if it's a stupid question. When using a cloud (or online?) model with a coding agent, does it make a difference in the cache hit rate if I make new requests in the current session, or start a new session for them?

Thanks

Which LLM provider does Kilo Gateway use?

Hi. There is Kilo gateway with its own set of models, and prices that do not exactly match any single provider in e.g. OpenRouter. Is it clear how and where those models are served?

Related to that, DSv4 Pro and Flash exist in the gateway with "(>80% off)" and "(>40% off)", respectively. Anybody knows how those models are provided, how long those discounts will exist, and actually, where can I see the discounted and real price that is charged? Kilo website doesn't mention any discount for those models: https://kilo.ai/models/by/deepseek

I still don't have the MAI Flash model. Is it because I am on the annual plan?

Hi. I have been waiting for MAI Flash on my GHCP VSCode extension since its release, to no avail. Now I'm wondering maybe they will never make them available to annual subscribers.

Has anyone who's on annual plan been able to access MAI Flash?

Thanks

Does anyone have news about the next GLM or Kimi model?

Hi. It seems neither of recent Minimax, DeepSeek and Qwen models have been able to "dethrone" GLM 5.1 and Kimi K2.6 as "Opus(es) of open models". That's why I'm eagerly waiting for their next releases to see whether they can comfortably claim 2026 level of frontier performance.

Does anyone have any news about whether they are working on something? Any other rumored model you think can reach that level?

Thanks

Hi. My RSS reader registered that, but the link is broken now. Has anyone else seen it?

Parties vs. Initiatives in Switzerland: An Interesting "Paradox"

Hi. This diagram has made me thinking for a few days already:

https://preview.redd.it/3ya5u4tzrm3h1.png?width=1504&format=png&auto=webp&s=7f791b3ca6a8cf725ff4ee582e3b0b2d51d1e302

If someone wants to guess how the polls look like for these two initiatives based on their corresponding party endorsement, probably the logical guess would be that the first one is a clear NO, while the second one is much more 50-50 and less predictable. The reality is actually the other way round, however, at least based on the last polls I saw (also on SRF): The first one is very undecided, while the second one seems a comfortable yes.

It has always been interesting to me and a positive, that in Switzerland can vote directly for ideas they support, and not for people who hopefully would be some decent proxy for those ideas.

But are situations like the one above common if we look at recent/longer term history? Can one make a pessimistic take that Swiss parties are becoming too "out of touch" with what people actually care about/want? Or I'm simply reading too much into this?

Are other people who also find this "interesting" maybe?

Cline gets stuck in a grep call

Hi. I am pretty new to Cline, and use it via a VSCode extension (version 3.85.0).

In a pretty straightforward task, I have seen twice that gets stuck in a grep call (grep "expression" file.js) and does not move forward. It says "Cline wants to execute this command", then "skipped " on top of the command window, and then "thinking" forever.

As I am new to Cline, I have a string suspicion that there may be something wrong with my side of things. Is there something I am missing? I use OpenRouter (Deepseek v4 Flash if that matters), and have Auto-approve as far as I can see. The previous tool calls in this session have completed running, and the same task runs to end with other agents I tested.

Is there anything I am missing? Thanks

How can I see my exact token usage?

Hi. I want to know how many token each session and each request I made has consumed, ideally along with more details such as prompts, thinking, and tool calls. Is there any way to see that in an easily readable way, a table or so?

I can see Agent logs and Chat debug views within VS Code, but they are not really readable, and I cannot find logs on my disk in the place they are supposed to be.

Any idea? Thanks.
