Drinkwitz and Recruiting QBs

Before I say anything I should clarify. I want Drink at Mizzou. He is our best option.

With that being said and the recent struggle reports of Simmons in camp, this would mark the second straight year Drinkwitz has brought in a transfer QB and they have struggled.

I’m not sure what it is, but this would be the second swing and a miss on a transfer QB if Simmons doesn’t produce this season.

This isn’t the same ol’ Mizzou. Drinkwitz is getting paid the money to where it should be expected he can develop an elite QB (Cook was good, not elite).

These are premature thoughts though as we have no clue what Simmons will do. But Beau Pribula was a disaster and god I hope Simmons can give us good enough QB play. That or Zollers develops into a rockstar.

The running game in 2026

I hope Hardy plays like we all do. But worst case scenario, what if he doesn’t play? He may need a full year to heal and get ready for the NFL Draft:

I don’t think it will be Hardy level, but I think Jamal Roberts and Xai'Shaun Edwards can provide enough production.

Thoughts? If Hardy plays that’s great but who knows.

Did anybody else’s water bill unexpectedly skyrocket this past month?

Yes I know it’s August.

I was gone for 10 of the last 30 days. My water bill has jumped nearly $200. You figure the bill would drop.

I had an irrigation specialist not too long ago look at my system and he saw no leaks.

Dallas Water Utilities Customer Service is hard to deal with. I call, ask to speak to a person, and the system hangs up. I now mail in checks, I’m not paying the new service fee.

How much did the Williams Nwaneri situation impact how you view high school recruiting?

If you didn’t know already, Williams Nwaneri highly touted high school recruit comes to Mizzou. Gets an (estimated) $1 million in NIL. Freshman year has 2 total tackles and 1 sack. Then after the season he transfers to Nebraska.

Don’t get me wrong, I still think high school recruiting is important. But it’s definitely not as important to me as it was 10 years ago. Why should my school drop a big bag of cash to develop you if you could just hit the portal after your developmental season(s).

When Mizzou didn’t get Cantwell I was like “eh whatever” he’s more than likely not gonna play at Miami his freshman year and it’s gonna be a developmental year for him. And I’m sure he is getting a nice NIL bag from the Canes.

What are your thoughts?

Anybody know how beer league hockey is in the Nashville? Charlotte or Raleigh Metro?

I am considering moving to Raleigh, Nashville, or Charlotte. I want to see how the beer league hockey is in each city.

Are there opportunities to be play in each?

For teams, is it you get assigned to a new team every season or can you play on the same team every season?

I am a D league player. Does anybody know what nights D league teams typically play on at any of the rinks in either Raleigh, Nashville, or Charlotte?

Where I live now in Texas I have a team I play on in D league as a skater weekly. I can play goalie too but I am more of an E league/Lower D goalie level. But where I’m at goalies can pretty much play whenever they want because there is so much demand.

Thanks for the insight.

To anyone with struggling with young goldens: It Does Get Better. Stay Patient

I have seen a few posts here recently of owners struggling with young goldens and some even considering rehoming them. My story is below but just be patient with them. It does get better. They are truly your best friend.

I remember my first golden puppy (he is the one on the right in this photo) the first week particularly was hard. His second night home I was exhausted because the night before was his first night home in the crate. He screamed and it was awful. Then the second night before bed, he swallowed a guitar pick (later came out the back end thank god) and I couldn’t fall asleep because he is screaming and crying in his crate (I got him to stop crying by getting an air mattress and sleeping next to him with the crate door open so my body blocked him in the crate but he was next to me.). Crate training was rough.

I texted my brother that night saying “dude I may return him to the breeder I can’t handle this as a single dog parent”. I stuck with it though and although it took awhile, he became a very sweet golden. He is going to be six in September and is the best boy ever (along with his brother I have another golden retriever that is a puppy and is almost 2. He is on the left in the photo. I’m still trying to get the puppy to stop taking my TV remote outside and hiding it in the yard 😂).

I just went out of town today for a week. I know they are having a blast at the dog sitter but I sure do miss them.

Any chance they bring back Tarasenko?

I’d love it. But I have no clue how much cap space we have. Plus wasn’t there some bad blood at the end with how the Blues treated his injury?

What are your thoughts on Dallas - Fort Worth?

I live here, male in my 30s. Not married no kids. I live on the Dallas side of the metroplex.

I want to relocate. However, I also wonder if I am just overly pessimistic about Dallas - Fort Worth. Here are my thoughts below. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

Dallas - Fort Worth is hot as hell. It’s a very materialistic (especially on the Dallas side). There is almost no nature and it is flat. It is a city that loves it some Jesus and people let everyone know how much they love Jesus (lots of megachurches). You pretty much have to fly anywhere you go because the only cities you can get to driving in 6 hours or less are Houston, Oklahoma City and Austin (and I personally don't care for any of those cities except for Austin). As a single person in their 30s there isn't much to do here besides go to the pool and drink in the summer.

It seems like after 30 here it gets incredibly more difficult because people tend to settle down and start families at that age.

With the heat, this is the worst time of year to be here. It's hot, no nature and you pretty much can't escape it unless you hop on a plane.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

What does Downtown Dallas and the Immediate Surrounding Areas Even Have Going for it Anymore?

I am a big dog person and as you probably know, Mutt's is now closed.

Unless you need to be downtown or near there for work, why would you even want to live there now? I've in Dallas long enough to remember when McKinney Avenue had bars up and down it.

Now, no more dog park (with a bar at least) and Mavs & Stars leaving.

Like why would you pay overpriced rent? I guess if they want to build more apartments go for it. But all the good stuff keeps leaving the area and it really sucks. Everything is being pushed up north.

It's literally just office space and apartments now. And even then, companies are moving North.

I'm mainly pissed about Mutt's closing though. The owners of that place didn't give a damn about anything. It could've been special and a money maker if they actually tried.

Missouri and Big Ten Baseball

I get it, Missouri is in the SEC and I like the SEC. Missouri also could be a Big Ten school.

The last time a Big Ten team won a baseball national title was 1966 by Ohio State.

Of the current Big Ten schools, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Rutgers have men's soccer.

Of the current Big Ten schools Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, and Wisconsin have men's hockey.

Five of those schools listed have both men's and women's soccer.

Missouri deals with many of the similar challenges a lot of these schools deal with when it comes to baseball. I don't (to my knowledge) see those schools up in arms about the baseball program.

Just take that into perspective. In my opinion Missouri is more like a Big Ten school. Many of the SEC programs that are baseball powerhouses are under different circumstances than Missouri.

EDIT: I am not saying Missouri should move to the Big Ten, I am saying we should hold our baseball program to more of a Big Ten baseball standard.

Hockey Jargon in Beer League

I am playing in a hockey tournament with my regular team this weekend. And I can just imagine all the stuff I’m gonna hear in the locker room and on the bench.

Lol this is the same stuff we have been saying for 20 years and none of it ever happens.

What other sayings apply to this? My list is below please add in.

Let’s Go Boys”

“Get Pucks to the net”

“Chip and Chase”

“Get shots on goal”

“Skate hard”

Thoughts on Basketball playing SLU?

For me, I say don’t play the game unless it’s in Columbia.

I was listening to PowerMizzou today and it sounds like SLU is pushing this more than Mizzou.

I don’t think it benefits Mizzou to play this game. If you win it’s because you were supposed to if you lose you’re not gonna live it down.

Put the game at Mizzou ok let’s do it but that’s the only way I would do it. It’s funny how SLU only pushes for this game when they are halfway decent never when they’re horrible.

Thoughts?

I wrote to the company CEO about their horrible recruiter

Don’t care if it’s petty. This recruiter did a horrible and unprofessional job. I know I won’t probably ever get a job with this company but I am tired of bad recruiters not being held accountable.

You see more companies sending out surveys for candidate feedback and they should.

Recruiters, take 10 seconds and send a rejection email.

Dallas Water now charges a convenience fee?

Wtf? I’ve tried paying via my bank account too and it still wants to charge me a convenience fee.

I’ve tried calling the City of Dallas, but every time the call drops so I emailed them waiting for a response.

I can understand if they don’t want to pay credit card fees. But this payment system is what they’ve selected so at least waive the charges for payments made via bank account. We shouldn’t have to go back 40 years ago and pay via check in the mail.

Sounds like they are trying to pass along more of their bill from the payment system to the consumer. Fuck that dude.

MCS dominating my vinyl wall

I originally only had the even if it kills me album on the wall because I love the artwork. I had another artist in place where My Dinosaur Life is. But My Dinosaur Life is such a great album it needed to be on the wall. Although the artwork isn’t as cool as even if it kills me I like that album better sound wise (although even if it kills me is still awesome)

Still confident in 2026 if Hardy doesn’t play

Before I say this: I hope Hardy comes back and has a great year.

That being said: Roberts and Edwards could carry the RB game just fine. Losing Hardy would hurt. I think we have horses in the stable though to help us win at least 8-9 games.

Thoughts? This is worst case scenario Hardy can’t play.
