Books make it cozy.

I'll risk being treacly bc I think I'm among like minds: my books are friends (and sometimes enemies). I remember the experience of reading them, & where/who I was at that time, it's a nice way to access good memories. I have lived in literally scores of places (9 states, 3 countries, 2 continents)- but I drag these babies around with me all over the country/world for a reason.

A block of fairies & tiny creatures

The two houses next to us have little fairy villages in their yard. We get a fair amount of foot traffic & I see small kids admiring them all the time. So I did a very basic tiny woodland creatures version (fairies freak me out). Kids absolutely love it; I'm kind of hoping it spreads to the rest of the block.

Bird bedding

Forgive me if this isn't an appropriate place to post, I thought you guys would understand!

Over the past few years, birds have quietly worked their way into my life. What started as casually noticing who was visiting the feeder turned into learning their songs, watching their behavior, and genuinely looking forward to seeing who would show up each morning. birding has this incredible way of pulling me into the present. It’s hard to catastrophize about tomorrow when you’re trying to figure out whether that flash of yellow was a goldfinch or a warbler.
The birds give me tiny moments of joy and curiosity every single day. It gives me reason to spend 1/2 hour on the back porch of an evening, trying to spot the birds I hear.

So...I may have leaned into my interest and bought bird-themed bedding. 😂 Every time I walk into the room it makes me smile, and honestly, that’s reason enough.

Power off & on constantly?

Our power (in Beaver) is intermittent. It goes out for 5-15 minutes & then on for about the same time. It's definitely better than just no power in this oppressive heat, but i just wanted to make sure it's not a problem in our house.
