Looking for ARC readers for my new book - funny, self-help book

I'm looking for ARC readers for my next book. It’s a witty collection of everyday, painfully relatable things women do.

160 Things Women Can Finally Stop Doing at 60

Although it's written for women turning 60, it's really a witty collection of everyday observations that almost any woman will recognize.

Ladies - If you've ever put everyone else first, parents, a partner, children, friends, or colleagues, I think you'll find yourself smiling more than once.
Men - do you think mom or wife or female friend might resonate?

It's full of things like:

  • Stop cleaning before the cleaner arrives.
  • Stop saving the dress for the “right occasion.”
  • Stop pretending you can't hear your husband eating an apple.

If any of these make you go “Oh God. I do that.”, you may be exactly the reader I'm looking for.

DM me or comment if you'd like the link.

Edit: My book is going live on 25 August. If you enjoy it, I would love an honest review on Amazon (USA).

BookSirens declined my book, again

This is my second book that booksirens has declined. It's frustrating. My first was a medium-content journal, so I understand it not getting accepted. But the second is a high-content self-help book. Anyone actually had success listing your book there?

I was banking on listing my book there for ARC reviews as I don't really have my own ARC team. I have listed it on Booksprout, though honestly I am not sure how many readers they have for self-help. I can't think of other sites to get ARC reviews. Netgalley is too expensive.

Any suggestions?

Book reverb - personal experience?

I recently launched a book, sent out ARC copies, got a few reviews. The issue is some ARC reviews didn't get approved, many ARC readers are yet to leave their reviews (they are busy, some ghosted).

I wanted to avoid review swap sites or sites where you pay for ARC reading + reviews. Book reverb falls in the latter category. While they claim they are TOS compliant, but at the EOD, we are paying, so I don't know how safe it is.

My question is to anyone who has actually used them - do your reviews stay up even after months? Talks of book getting banned or worse, KDP account getting banned make me think it's not worth it. But I also see people claiming to use it and get reviews. They say it has worked for them. Waiting for sales followed by reviews naturally is a slow, un-guaranteed process.

So if anyone has used it, I would really appreciate your feedback.

First day of promo run - stats (and am surprised)

~ 2000 downloads, no. 1 Amazon best seller badge in all 3 categories, no. 66 in Top 100 Kindle free books 🎉

I launched by book a few days ago. Am running 2 KDP free days now. The first day was truly beyond what I expected.

I didn't know what to expect, but definitely didn't expect the no. 1 ranking. I know this is temporary but waking up to these numbers definitely made my morning.

I know day 2 would be a lull with no promos going out. And now after the peak is over, I am beginning to worry how to get sales.

I also don't know what the expected overall rank should after a 1 day free run, but these rankings definitely make me feel all warm and accomplished inside. So for anyone else starting out and feeling all doubtful, be open for the best!

The Secret to Quieting The Spiral by Mina Karr - a guided journal for overthinkers and anxious minds

I recently launched a journal. It's a guided journal for overthinkers with science-backed prompts.

And the Ebook is free on Amazon only on 10 and 11 June 2026 (Pacific Time)

If this is something that will help you, I would genuinely appreciate a download and an honest review.

P.S. - I know journals need to be written on. So the best workaround to use a free copy is to read the prompts and write the thoughts separately, unless someone purchases a hard copy or uses it with their Scribe.

A book from one overthinker to another

I wrote "The Secret to Quieting The Spiral" for overthinkers and anxious minds. And I am running a free promotion on Amazon on 10 and 11 June 2026 for the E-book.

It's a guided journal, yes I know you can't journal on an Ebook. But if you are looking to not spend, you could use the E-book and write down your answers separately.

The book is a guided journal ( with prompts, not just blank pages) and segmented by the state of mind, not dates. It's drawn from CBT and DBT frameworks.

Are your ARC reviews "unverified". Details in body.

My book is going live on Amazon. I am planning request if some of my ARC readers can download a copy during my free promo days, and then leave a review, so it says "verified". Have you done this before? This will however leave only a couple days between the actual download and leaving the review, which Amazon can flag (whereas in reality I sent them a copy weeks ago). So is this a good strategy? Or do you just ask them to leave unverified reviews? I hear some of those get taken down. Thank you.

Promo sites for nonfiction?

I am launching my nonfiction book (a guided writing workbook) on KDP and will be running the free days soon. The problem is most sites are good for fiction. Some popular ones like Booksirens and Bookspry declined the genre. I ran a paid ARC campaign on Booksprout but got barely a handful of people. I am awaiting replies from other sites, but I can see the drift.

Any suggestions for promo sites where I can promote my style of book?

Any tips on getting genuine ARC readers?

I am going to publish my first nonfiction, medium content book on Amazon. Before the launch, I wanted to send the book out to ARC readers to get reviews on Amazon. I've reached out to a few of them via Facebook groups, but what I find is that some of them simply ghost you after getting a copy of the book. Have you noticed that with your ARC readers?

I've also heard that running Amazon ads with zero reviews is not really going to help, which is why I would like to get a few reviews before I run ads. Any tips on how I can get the initial reviews? I don't have a social media following, so I can't promote it there.

Any tips on what has worked for you are appreciated.

Quieting The Spiral by Mina Karr - guided journals/self-help - 31 May 2026

Quieting The Spiral is a guided journal for overthinkers and people who experience anxiety.

Unlike most journals, it is not organised by date. Instead it has six sections, each named after an emotional state. You go to whichever section fits how you are feeling. No daily streak. No pressure.

The prompts are drawn from evidence-based therapy approaches including CBT and DBT frameworks amongst others. There is also a short reading section at the start that explains what overthinking actually is and why your brain gets stuck.

This journal was built specifically for people who have tried journalling before and gave up because blank pages made things worse.

Triggers: None

Publication date: May 30, 2026

ARC send date: 16 May 2026. I will send a PDF directly to everyone who signs up.

Review deadline: May 23, 2026

Format: PDF

Available in: All countries

To sign up: Drop a comment below or send me a direct message with your email address and I will send you the PDF copy.

Serious questions or funny over-the-top ones?

What style of journaling do you enjoy personally - the straightforward guide (eg - what was one thing that you wished went better today) or witty ones (what did the a$$hole do today?).
Edit - the mean what style of guided journals work better for you, the ones with serious questions or the funny ones?
