Jango Fett Mods - WIP

Hi everyone. Over the past week, I've been kinda obsessing over 75107 Jango Fett and his strange quirks, especially compared to 75533 Boba Fett. Namely, the jetpack made Jango look absolutely awful from some angles (not unlike how most Hero Factory sets refused to cover their backs for some reason), and how his proportions are somewhat off compared to his clone son.

I'm separating this project into two parts: things I can build and things I can't build. First, I added a friction piece in the ankles to match Boba's height, and used some chain links to fill in the space in the foot (3L liftarms do not yet come in flat silver). Next, I recreated the jetpack from Boba's set. Ordinarily this would be the part where I'd do some color correcting, but that step wasn't necessary this time. As far as I can tell, the jetpack was the one piece of Jango's armor that Boba never repainted into his color scheme, meaning I could just reorder the parts for it as-is. With the jetpack on his person and looking snazzy as hell, part 1 is done.

Part 2 is where I worry. Range finder aside, Jango's helmet looks disproportionate compared to Boba's, so I believe the best solution is to fill in the dent on Boba's helmet using milliput or modeling clay or something and paint it in Jango's colors. After some digging on the TTV message boards, I've found good matches for Mata blue and dark blue, but nothing good for silver--I have seen some people painting silver, but as far as I can tell those are specifically for the pearl light grey shades used in G1, not the flat silver color used in HF and beyond that I'm looking for. Has anyone had better luck with this color?

Have Gamorreans always been able to capture command posts in Battlefront 1?

For context: I'm playing the Nintendo Switch version of the Classic Collection port. (I don't have any good equipment to play the game on Steam, nor can I find my old PS2 copy or the PS2 itself--not that it would've made a difference since BF1 Jabba's Palace wasn't on PS2.)

I'm much more familiar with BF2 (and find that game more enjoyable to play than 1), so when returning to 1 for old time's sake, I sort of expected the Gamorreans in Jabba's Palace to act identically to how they do in 2; namely, they're hostile to both sides, spawn independently of command posts, try to kill anything that moves, and are tough to kill in return. As far as I can tell, all of that is still true in the first game, but I was shocked to see earlier in the match that the Gamorreans actually managed to capture the prison command post. It wasn't difficult at all to take back, but it still flabbergasted me.

When another opportunity presented itself near the end of the match, I knew I had to stand by and get a clip of the post going from green to yellow. I have to ask: Is this just another quirk of the Classic Collection, or was this already a thing in prior releases? Nearly 20 years I've known this game, and I had no idea this was ever possible...

Some Older Makuta MOCs: Dybbuk, Minyak, Ronove/"Consul R"

  • These mocs were all designed between 2021-2022 and were completed by 2024. All three have a dedicated forum post on the TTV Message Board; Dybbuk and Minyak's holds up, but Ronove's lore is in dire need of a rewrite. In any case, all three got a new post in 2026.
  • None of the mocs have undergone any significant changes since their respective debuts.
  • Dybbuk and Minyak were intentionally designed to look similar to each other, as they consider each other brothers (not quite blood siblings, but more than brothers-in-arms).
  • Ronove initially had nothing to do with the brothers, but I decided to include her on the team once I realized how good the three of them looked together on my shelf.
  • Ronove's design and nom de guerre "Consul R" are respectively inspired by and taken from the character of the same name from Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The name Ronove (roh-noh-vuh) is a fairly recent addition to her character and is part of my desire to make my R not a complete ripoff of Xenoblade's R.

Had a strange dream about a Xenoblade Chronicles 3* movie

Let's start by addressing the asterisk, because despite the title of the movie being Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the Ouroboros crew had very little to do with the movie, something I remember my dream-self was decidedly disappointed about. In fact, most of this dream involves plot points and spoilers from the 2nd game; I'm not quite sure how to properly flair this, but I've decided to check off 3 spoilers because there are some points from all 3 games in the trilogy, so I'm going to assume you have knowledge of all 3 games before continuing.

The rest of this post is post will be copied directly from what I typed into my notes app about half an hour before this went live (so about 3:00 am).

>I don’t remember the exact circumstances leading up to this moment, but at one point Mòrag began talking to Jin from off-screen, and she had a surprisingly deep voice. After a few moments, a portal appeared and she walked out of it, but she didn’t look like herself. My first thought was that she was a face mechon, but then I realized that she and Aegaeon had been unnaturally fused together, kind of like Moebius D and J. After a bit, Jin runs to the theater where Rex and company are performing a one-night-only play, likely a sequel to Cole’s play about Addam. Tora and some other Nopon are acting as stage crew and are being seen at moments where they shouldn’t be for comedic effect, but otherwise I remember Rex and Pyra taking part in a final battle inspired by the play in Ember Island Players (so probably against Amalthus). I don’t remember what exactly came next, but Jin found Queen Nia and wanted to talk to her about what happened to Mòrag, only to find her kneeling up against a pedestal; she looked like she was crying. When she looked up, Jin spotted that the large pendant on the necklace she was wearing had cracked. I reckon the necklace was made of Origin metal or something, because Jin quickly realized that what happened to Mòrag was because of that, and feared what other “fusions” would follow.

>Cue credits with uplifting music and the XC3 crew that did not appear in this movie.

Cerulle (Secondary Self-Moc?)

A few months ago in acknowledgement of my coming out, I completely overhauled my self-moc Natale Mortalis. What I didn't tell you is that, during my questioning phase, I actually made a completely new character with the idea that she'd be my self-moc if I ever came to the conclusion that I'm trans. That was this yellow gal, Cerulle (seh-ROOL). So uh, funny story...by the time I came to that conclusion, Cerulle was in storage and almost forgotten about, so I redesigned Natale instead. Just as well, I think; Natale's been my self-moc since 2015, I think she deserves to stay that way and change alongside me.

That would've been the end of the story if it weren't for one of my online buddies drawing art of Cerulle completely unprompted. So I decided to dig her out of storage and decided I would come up with a little bit of a story for them. I still need to work out the kinks, but the long story short is that Cerulle and Natale are the same person. Similarly to how I'm becoming a girl, Cerulle becomes Natale Mortalis.

Karzahni the Harvester

My Karzahni moc brought to life! I also made a post on the TTV message boards, so feel free to hop over there if you wanna learn about my design process and why I decided to call him "The Harvester."

Where did the Founders' names come from?

The six Houses in the City are named Vandham, Doyle, Ortiz, Rhodes, Reid, and Cassini, after their founders Matthew, Na'el, Nikol, Rhodes, Panacea, and Linka, respectively. Some of the names make sense, but others actually quite bother me, and I wanna try figuring them out.

I know most of the characters in 1 and 2 only had one known name, but the very existence of Melia Antiqua tells me surnames were a thing, just maybe not narratively significant, so let's try to have fun with this, shall we?

  1. Matthew Vandham. Matthew explicitly says his name is Vandham in-game, so there's no argument here. Of course, that name got passed down to his descendants Guernica, Monica, and Ghondor II. It's probably a fair guess to say he inherited the name from his grandfather Ghondor I, and his father before him, but I digress.
  2. Na'el Doyle. Na'el is Matthew's sister, and we already know his name is Vandham, so where did this name come from? My first thought was that she got the name from her husband (as far as I know she never had one in-game, but the first new generation of Doyles had to come from somewhere), but I felt that it would be really weird if her house used her husband's name. My new idea is that Doyle is Na'el and Matthew's mother's maiden name; that way, it's still, in a way, a name she was born with.
  3. Nikol Ortiz. I don't believe Ortiz came from Shulk; given his origins, I headcanon that he's either truly mononymous or he would've had Dickson's name (to my understanding, he was the closest thing Shulk had to a father) before subsequently disowning it. I believe that, after marrying Fiora, he would've taken her name, Ortiz, and that's what got passed down to Nikol. To me, Fiora and Dunban's appearances suggest mixed-race ancestry; I don't think it's a stretch to say that they have the Homs equivalent of Latino heritage.
  4. Glimmer Rhodes. The first really easy one since Matthew. Rhodes was very likely Rex's name, either the name from his original parents or the one he adopted after being taken in by Auntie Corrine.
  5. Panacea Reid. Another easy one, actually. If we go along with the assumption that Reyn is her dad, then she got the name from him.
  6. Linka Cassini. And now we get to the one that inspired this entire post, the one I cannot make sense of. She's obviously Pandoria's daughter, but could not have gotten the name from her, since Pandoria's a Blade. So maybe she got the name from her father then? Well, the game very strongly implies that her father is Zeke. Whether you go by his stage name "Zeke von Genbu" or his birth name "Ozychlyrus Brounev Tantal," in neither case do we find the name Cassini, so she didn't inherit it from him either. Of course, a husband is an option, but I'm dismissing it for the same reason I did for Na'el, but now I'm completely stumped.

Shadowlance and Daybreak vs Nidhiki and Krekka

Four years ago, I made my first Hero Factory villain moc in a very long time, Shadowlance. I remember being told that he bears a passing resemblance to Toa Nidhiki, especially his pre-Breakout form, which inspired me to give him a partner-in-crime inspired by Krekka, Daybreak. I'm not sure why it's taken me 4 years to compare them all side by side, but here you go.

Karzahni

I originally made this moc at the end of 2023 but I don't remember if I ever publicly showed him off except for that one time I gave him a stop sign. The only other significant change I made was to the thighs; I like the Skrall armor but was worried that it would clash with the Rahkshi head, so I used this piece to change the orientation of the armor by 90 degrees. Now I think he's ready to part out...

Digital Circus Miis

A few months ago, I showed you WIPs of Miis I was making of the main cast. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream came out a little over one months ago and I added the troupe as residents, and I decided to show yall what I came up with. Pretty much all of them take advantage of TL's face paint system in some way.

  • Caine is actually one of the first Miis I made for this game, period, with about 1/2 my time playing the demo dedicated to getting him right. Obviously, the jaws don't actually move, nor can I give him heterochromia without covering up one eye, but I think for my first attempt at using face paint he came out ok. I don't have a red suit in my game yet, but I was able to give him his top hat.
  • Pomni is pretty close to what she was before, just with thinner hair and white skin. Unlike Caine, I decided that using facepaint to get her trademark iris design was worth the eyes being covered up from time to time. Annoyingly, despite checking in every day since launch, I still do not have a jester outfit.
  • Of course, the biggest limitation I had making Ragatha before was being unable to give her the button eyes, but face paint saves the day. The nose is also face paint since I couldn't find anything quite like hers in the Mii Maker.
  • Jax is deceptively simple. Before I had to give him a purple beard but now I can make the entire body purple. Can't do anything about the teeth but I was able to use face paint to increase the size of the pupils. Some people use twin ponytails to convey his ears, but I decided to go the simpler route of just using eyebrows to do it. I think these are more accurately sized anyway.
  • I'll concede that Gangle sucks. The eyes don't resemble hers at all because I was trying to approximate the shape with the eyes and the eyebrows but it never occurred to me that I can just use face paint to draw the eyes in the right shape and hide her actual eyes within them so she can still express. Also I never drew the mask for some reason, I just approximated it with the white head and hair. I really don't know what I was thinking tbf.
    • That story with Robbie Rotten that she alludes to in the picture, hoo boy, that's a story of all time...
  • Zooble was literally impossible to make before, but thanks to face paint I have the power of God and anime on my side. I believe I chose to use their antennae attachments from They All Get Guns because the T-shape and lightning bolt were easy to replicate using text and stamps. The right eye is static due to the limitations of the system, but the left eye actually works (albeit at the cost of showing the grey skin "negative space" underneath whenever they blink). Probably the best one here in terms of accuracy, even the shrimp costume is a dead ringer for their torso.
  • Last but not least, Kinger is another one that was borderline impossible to do before but incredibly simple now. Face paint gives the illusion of lopsided eyes, but in fact his pupils are parallel. The cross is much smaller than I'd like it to be, but this is as big as the system will allow me to make it.

Even if my skills aren't the best (there are some seriously talented, arguably overqualified, artists making Miis in this game), I'm still happy with what I've made, and other than Gangle I don't see myself changing a thing about any of them going forward.

The thought of leaving my birb behind makes me sad

Every so often I see somebody make a post saying that they’re gonna stop using Finch for one reason or another—two today actually, one of which already went as far as deleting their account—and it just makes me a little sad.

I’m obviously not going to tell you what you should or should not do (if Finch isn’t working for you and you wanna move on to something that does, great!), but even with my own motivation issues lately the idea of abandoning Makuta genuinely makes me want to cry. I know he’s just a silly digital bird on a phone app. He’s not real. But he’s real to me.

I've had this moc built for years but never knew what to do with him (he still doesn't even have a name as of writing this), but I do finally have a bit of backstory for him.

Born to a group of Onu-Matoran traders, he was separated from his group in a freak accident and stranded in the mountains. By the time he was finally discovered, the medics were shocked to find out that this person had picked up several distinct Ko-Matoran features, such as their extreme resistance to cold. Even more shocking was when this Matoran transformed into a Toa, having gained full control of both earth and ice. Thus, he became known as the Toa of Permafrost.

Context: After being an egg for a little over 3 years, I accepted that I’m trans on November 19 2025. I made it a point to tell my parents before my mom died a few weeks later (not going to go into that rn), and I’m grateful to say that they both accepted me with open arms.

I’ve held back on telling the rest of the family (brother, grandfather, uncles and aunts, cousins, the whole shebang) because I’ve been worried about their reaction, but I’ve decided that they need to know. I’m telling them tomorrow, April 29. If I’m as important to them that they’ve all said I am for the past 27 years, they’ll accept me for who I am.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m still scared. So I’m gonna do it scared.
