Cygon Open Beta launches July 6!

Cygon Open Beta launches July 6!

Hi everyone,

Today we're opening Cygon to everyone. If you're tired of spending hours building prototypes before you know whether an idea is fun, Cygon is for you.

After months of work, we're finally ready to put the first building block of Cygon into your hands: rapid prototyping. It's the first step toward a much bigger vision, and we're excited to share the rest with you soon.

In the video above, we explain our vision and where we want to take Cygon. Since it's only a minute long, it can't cover everything, so if you'd like to learn more about our goals, the reasoning behind our decisions, and our long-term vision, you can read our manifesto here: https://media.cygon.tech/cygon_manifesto.pdf

One question we know many of you have is about pricing.

Our goal is to keep Cygon afordable for everyone. To ensure it fits in your existing workflow Cygon will be free to use with all features available until you export your project. Exporting projects and using the full game engine integration pipeline will require a subscription. We explain why we chose this model in the manifesto.

If anything is unclear or you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments. We're always happy to hear feedback and suggestions that can help us improve.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

We hope to see you on Cygon soon!

Live Sync between Cygon and Unreal Engine is here!

We promised it, and now it's live.

We’re excited to introduce you the Cygon Link for Unreal Engine.

For some context, we're developing CYGON, a dedicated level prototyping tool. Our goal is to speed up and simplify the prototyping phase while integrating smoothly into existing workflows.

Today, we're releasing an Unreal Engine integration featuring a live sync bridge between CYGON and Unreal Engine.

It allows you to synchronize your CYGON project with your Unreal scene. Every time you modify and save your levels in CYGON, they are automatically updated in your Unreal scene. No more manual re-imports.

We're entering beta in july, so if you want the latest news about the project and take part in the development, join our Discord.

I rebuilt Dust 2's blockout in under 3 hours using CYGON

I challenged myself to recreate the blockout of Dust 2 as quickly as possible using the prototyping tool CYGON.

Dust 2 is one of the most iconic maps in video game history and a true masterpiece of level design.

The final result is quite convincing, and the entire build took me less than three hours.

CYGON is a dedicated level prototyping tool designed to speed up and simplify the prototyping phase while integrating smoothly into existing workflows. It is also completely free to try.

If you have any questions about the challenge, the build process, CYGON, or anything else, feel free to ask in the comments. We reply to all comments.

The full build video is available on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zq_RpKTWgHk

Presenting our new Link Editor

A few weeks ago, we shared some concepts for a new Link Editor for our 3D prototyping tool.

The goal was simple: make object links easy to visualize and edit directly in the viewport, without relying on additional panels or menus, making the workflow more fluid.

After several iterations, we've now implemented the feature.

Main interactions:

  • visual feedback when creating/editing objects
  • hover over an object to visualize its links
  • click to enter Link Editing mode
  • create and remove links directly in the viewport
  • quickly remove all links from a node

We're continuing to develop the software, and we're always open to feedback.

Cygon Link for Godot is finally here!

You requested it, so we made it happen.

We’re excited to introduce you the Cygon Link for Godot.

For some context, we're developing CYGON, a dedicated level prototyping tool. Our goal is to speed up and simplify the prototyping phase while integrating smoothly into existing workflows.

And now, we’ve added a Godot integration with a live sync bridge between CYGON and Godot.

It allows you to synchronize your CYGON project with your Godot scene. Every time you modify and save your levels in CYGON, they are automatically updated in your Godot scene — no more manual re-imports.

Try it now and tell us what you think — we’d love to hear your feedback and continue improving it.

What do you think about Blender's status bar hints ? (we are trying to implement ours)

We wanted to add status bar hints to our software, inspired by Blender.

We found this feature really useful because it feels like the software teaches you how to use it as you work, so we decided to implement a similar system in our software.

Do you think Blender’s status bar hints is user-friendly?

Do you know an other software with this feature for more inspiration?

How to visualise and edit links between objects ?

Hello! We're developing a 3D prototyping tool where objects can be linked together.
When you edit one object, all linked objects are updated as well.

This is very useful for dynamic editing, but we wanted to give users more control.

That’s why we’re experimenting with a visual Link Editor for our prototyping tool, and we’d love feedback on the interaction design.

Here are a few interaction concepts we’ve been exploring and how they would work.

Does this interaction feel intuitive to you?
Do you know any software that already handles this kind of workflow particularly well?
Or do you have ideas for a better approach?

We’re actively developing the software, and we’d love to hear your feedback.

Navigating heights in 3D was frustrating us, so we tried something new

Hey! We're the small team behind Cygon, a 3D environment prototyping tool for solo devs and indie teams.

We just shipped our latest feature: the Height Ladder. It gives you a clear visual of all the height levels in your building, lets you instantly jump to any floor, and — the part we're most proud of — automatically detects the heights of your objects so you don't have to manage it manually. Simply focus on creating and the system will analyse your building and make it usable.

We're still looking for testers:

  1. Sign up here: https://inspyrstudio.com/login/
  2. Request access to the insider program on the download page
  3. Wait for approval (we review requests daily)

We recently introduced a launcher for Cygon.

Here’s a quick look at why we built it and how it will improve the experience moving forward.

1 - Version and Update management

One of the main drawbacks of not having a launcher is how updates are handled. Requiring users to download a new installer from a website for every update creates unnecessary friction and hurts the user experience.
With a launcher, everyone stays up to date automatically, which makes support much easier.
It also allows us to deploy hotfixes instantly when needed.

2 - Project management

Currently, all projects are launched when you open Cygon.
In the future, we want to manage each project individually from the launcher. Since it’s rare to work on multiple projects in the same session, this will prevent unnecessary projects from being launched.
Another goal will be to manage assets between projects, which we’ll cover next.

3 - Asset management

With projects becoming more independent, it’s important to make reusing previous work easy. That’s why introducing an asset system felt like a natural step.
Reusing assets isn’t just about importing models into a new project — we want something more user-friendly.
You'll be able to save a selection or even a full project as an asset, which will then be available in your asset library through the launcher.
These assets will be shared across all your projects and accessible directly within the Cygon interface.
You'll be able to simply drag and drop them into your scenes.

4 - Asset sharing

The next step for the asset system is enabling users to share assets with others in the Cygon community.
There will be an asset exchange platform integrated into the launcher, where you’ll be able to publish your own assets and download assets and templates shared by others.
This will help foster community collaboration and speed up workflows.

5 - Independence

This final point is about the strength of not relying on other platforms.
Our goal is to build Cygon with and for smaller studios, focusing on real needs rather than external constraints.
Independence gives us the freedom to listen to our community and shape the product around their workflows.

We’re actively working on these features — curious to hear what you think or what you’d like to see next.
