Seriously this season was such an upgrade it was literally top tier show quality and fucking hilarious. There was so much growth in every facet. Whether it’s season 4, 5 6+ or whatever tf this team wants to do next they’ve probably already got a green light with a black check to do it. Bloody great stuff so pleased for Gerbies and the whole crew
Has the field been finalised or should we be expecting some late reveals, or even unannounced big names we won’t know played until the final product is released? I know Portnoy teased Kai Trump and LeBron a while back but I haven’t seen anything since (I haven’t been paying close attention tho)
Where does our first line trio of Ranks Bez and Daws sit now?.. should we be running Rash through regularly (earlier this season he played 2 breakout elite games as a full time mid). Could organic growth really have resulted in a midfield now being capable of matching it with the contenders or are we still one (or even two?) elite mids short - that would be solved with the addition of Bailey or would it?!
Edit to add my two cents on the midfield mix for this season:
I’m gonna go out on a limb here with an over abundance of optimism..
Personally, I reckon if we underperform from here on this season, it won’t be for the same reasons as last year with our midfield being found severely wanting.
Rankine, Dawson and Berry are now as solid and dynamic as any midfield trio in the league. The addition of Ah Chee up forward, who showed his class the past two weeks, adds not just quality and finals experience but allows the coaching group flexibility they haven’t previously had. And that includes adding Rachelle back into to the mix. Peatling is also a better and more complete player than last season who can be used in a lockdown role when required. Soligo’s improvement (and fitness), whilst not linear, has been on an upward trajectory, he’ll also provide more valuable midfield minutes, as he has done recently and of course Curtin is the wildcard. McAndrew is a significant upgrade - Filthy will be his chop out from now, adding far more than T Muz’ ability could (Fogs return is huge for this). I think our best available midfield mix can work without sacrificing forward potency.
Happy to be reminded of this if/when it all goes wrong (which it won’t, lids loose)

Almost certainly Nicksy hasn’t played him there because of his (back?) injury that was evidently more than just a niggle. So he was both hampered by it, as well as not fit enough to run out the game.
We look a completely different team today. Riley has been simply brilliant in his role. The Turry experiment has to be over, and I think it will be.
For those saying we want him solely forward maximising his goal kicking, he was the chop out for ROB last year as well, when an AA forward. He’s has the potential to match the top tier ruckman in the centre and around the ground, let alone the backup rucks. MacAndrew can play as much game time as required now.
We all know it’s only Essendon sure, and this whole game was experimental, from selection to roles to style. Ignore the score line and stats this position and strategy is solved.. bring on finals my lids getting loose
We’re 18th by the length of the straight. I’ve questioned whether Sydney’s style will stand up in finals and high pressure games as they’re getting a lot of cheap possessions with players running forward of the ball so much they will be exploited on turnovers. Given that we beat them last week and had won 6 out of 7 before this weeks debacle I wonder how much we can read from this stat about Nicksys game style?
I think it’s worth noting that we absolutely dominated Collingwood for 30 minutes of footy before deciding to play kick to kick late in the second quarter and then completely ran out of gas or whatever tf happened

Yes he’s a goal per game down on last season (and accuracy is way down) but for those calling for him to be dropped please get a grip.
His overall stats (apart from goals per game - which also reflects the FP difference) are basically the same as last year. And that includes marks as well as contested marks, disposals and goal assists. Score involvements is higher this season.
We know he’s carried a back injury and hasn’t looked like he’s moving well at times but any team would still love to have him playing in his current form.
Our whole forward line structure hasn’t been as cohesive and dangerous as last season - yet.
He’ll kick a bag soon and all will be right with the world again. Chill fellas ✌️

In all seriousness I’m seeing more and more quotes in so many different subs. Most recently all the classics have been popping up in this Pygmy sub of Aussie rules AFL footy for one specific example. And it’s spreading all over random subs on here. I dunno if more and more youngsters are just discovering the show through YouTube shorts and reels etc and getting into the show for the first time. I guess it’s elite timeless art that resonates with all age groups so the streaming is no doubt doing huge numbers not just with rewatches by you degenerates but also with new demographics.
