August is a hard month for me. Today is my birthday and my gram died August 22,2024 my mom died August 27, 2015. I miss my gram a lot, my mom and I had a lot of conflict but I still want to know if she’s around.
Has anyone had their teeth pulled the same day as your consultation? My consultation is the 25th and the receptionist didn’t say it but the website says if the teeth aren’t complicated it’s possible to pull them same day. I sort of hope I can get it done the same day.
I finally got around to trying more birthday candles and i LOVE this one!! Smells mostly like caramel, i don’t really smell coconut.
Scent 9/10
Throw 7/10
The throw isn’t as strong as I hoped but in my bedroom it fills the room with scent.
This is my snowshoe Zyla. I adopted her in 2020 right before the pandemic! Like literally 2 weeks before it all hit the fan, at least in the USA. Zyla is 8 years old and the queen of sass. Shes the boss. I’m putting her on a diet, she is getting to chunky lol
This is Love! She is 4 years old. My husband and i found her camping back in 2023. She was obviously abandoned because she was very pregnant. We decided to keep her because right away she chose me as her human mom. She’s been by my side ever since. Shes the goofiest most loving cat! Everyone that meets her loves her right away. I named her correctly 🥹
None of this was a surprise, my family is from the northeast has been since they landed here. I even managed to trace my european side back to the 1600s in my mom’s side. I don’t have any information about my Palestinian side, grandfather was orphaned and never knew his family. The trace central asian ancestry was also detected on ancestry.
I received my birthday candles, amazingly they came in 4 days!! Last time i ordered it took 2 weeks to reach me. The only one I have burned so far is cider and sweaters and I absolutely love it!! Such a beautiful cozy candle. Makes me want to cozy up in front of a fire place with a book. That wont be happening anytime soon because i live in Arizona 😂
My birthday is the 16th and I decided with the sale going on to treat myself. Which ones are your favorites? I’m so excited!
Ok everyone I finally had my EGR replaced on my 2010 Prius, the entire thing including the cooler. Only thing is the shop didn’t clean it. My invoice doesn’t mention it. Should I have them clean it? They were the ones who wanted to charge me an additional $900 for pcv and spark plugs so I hesitate to even ask them to clean it. I need someone with Prius knowledge to let me know what I need to do next. Get it cleaned, spark plugs etc.
I need my last 3 remaining wisdom teeth out and one molar. My dentist recommended I get it over with at one appointment but for anxiety and financial reasons I am considering splitting the extractions into two appointments. Has anyone done this and what was your experience? Was the oral surgeon accommodating?
Hi everyone, my 2010 Toyota Prius with 186,000 miles is in the shop getting the EGR fixed. My mechanic quoted me $1800 and when I asked if that’s including spark plugs and PCV valve, he said that would be $2700 bill. Am I being scammed? I don’t know much of anything about cars. I told him to just do $1800 and I’ll go to another shop for the plugs and PCV valve when I have extra money. Is the PCV valve an urgent need? He told me the EGR valve and cooler are completely plugged.
I have an appointment with a local shop close to my house on Monday for my 2010 Prius to look at my EGR. Another shop I called recommended to just replace the entire thing. What is the best option and what costs am I looking at? I live in a rural area so I don’t know if that will determine costs. Both shops said they can’t tell me any estimate without looking at it first. I am asking anyone here who has gone through it what your costs were.
Not long ago I posted I am new to goose creek and I ordered the Kyoto tea house. I wanted to try more from the Japan line and decided to order yuzu serenity and sakura stroll. Both candles arrived yesterday and here’s my thoughts:
Out of the two I like Yuzu better! It smells like lemon with a hint of tea but not in an artificial way. The throw is 10/10
Scent: 10/10
Sakura stroll smells just like bath and body works cherry blossom. I think it’s a lovely smell, has a sweet powdery smell to it. I have it lit now and I can smell it but it’s very light. Not my favorite but I also don’t hate it.
Throw: 6/10
Scent: 7/10
Hi all, today I’m taking my new to me 2010 Prius to the shop for brakes service. I have a check engine light on that I suspect may be a clogged EGR or a dirty sensor maybe. I’m new to all this, what should I ask the mechanic? To just diagnose or to just give me an estimate on cleaning it? The car has 186k miles and I don’t know if any previous owners ever had it cleaned. The car was regularly serviced at a Toyota dealership but I don’t see anything about EGR or spark plugs etc.
Yesterday my husband and I bought a used 2010 Prius from a family dealership. It drives great and looks good for its age. It’s at 186k but I’ve read with maintenance this car can last up to 300k miles? I hope so, we are willing to keep it for many years and just fix it up if anything happens.
My questions are: should I get oil changed and any other maintenance every 2000 or 5000 miles? I’m taking the car back to the dealer next week, he’s putting new brakes in for me because he said the rotors are getting thin. I appreciated his honesty and he works on cars and sells them so I know he knows what he’s doing. Anyways this is my first Prius so I’m excited but a bit anxious on how to keep it going for a few more years!
I know you should take these tiny percentages with a grain of salt but it’s interesting that ancestry and 23andme both labeled the central Asian category, so it must have some truth?
Only thing is I don’t know which country this central Asian could be. I know it’s from my dads side because ancestry labeled it which makes sense because my dads side has Palestinian. So perhaps the Palestinian ancestors had central Asian too? Is this common? I don’t know much about that side of my family tree so I don’t know anything.
I am ashamed to admit this but in my 34 years on this earth I rarely ever flossed. I was never taught the importance by my parents and I hardly went to a dentist after I was maybe 12. So fast forward to November 2025, my gums are a mess. Red, bleeding and inflamed. I’m so desperate I schedule a dentist appointment despite my fear of judgment. And yes unfortunately the hygienist was not nice and acted like I was a huge disappointment. My pockets were all 5s and one 6. Not good but in my mind I thought they would have told me by pockets were 12 and my teeth were about to fall out. Anyways, I schedule the root scaling and come back 48 hours later so terrified I’m on the verge of a panic attack. I have OCD and anxiety so you can imagine how my brain was in overdrive. The procedure was awful, lots of needles, a lot of scolding about my lack of flossing and lots of jaw pain.
2 appointments later I’m finally done. My gums were red and I have so many mouth ulcers!! The ulcers were the worst part of the healing. For me it took 3 weeks for my gums to heal and reattach to my teeth. From day one of the cleaning I watched as many dental videos as possible. I learn how to floss and the correct way to brush on my gum line. I did it, I was a new person!!
Life got in the way and instead of my 3-4 month cleaning I had to wait 6 months. I recently moved towns and found a new dentist office and I absolutely love the dentist, she was so nice. I went to my appointment just this past Thursday and I was really anxious. Despite my extreme strict dental routine and absolutely no bleeding or swelling what if my pockets got worse? When the new dentist came in she examined me and read my pockets..and yes they IMPROVED!! majority of my pockets are 2s and 3s with about three 4s. I was over the moon happy! I was so proud of my home care. The dentist was pleased and told me I can do 4 month maintenance cleanings. And to my surprise she cleaned my teeth! ( she used to be a hygienist, maybe that’s why?) I didn’t know what to expect for the maintenance cleaning I was nervous I’d need to be numbed and nope!! No numbing. I felt zero pain and it was just like a regular dental cleaning.
My next appointment is October 12. So I don’t know if it matters but here’s my daily routine:
Morning: Brush with Phillips sonic care and epic xylitol toothpaste, use tongue scraper and alcohol free mouthwash.
After every meal I eat xylitol mints from epic. I swish my mouth with water and eat a healthy diet ( low carb, many veggies and lots of mono fat. Only sugar I consume is in my coffee creamer and whatever is added to bread. I don’t eat a lot of bread, maybe 2 slices a day.)
Night: floss, brush, mouthwash.
In total my dental routine is 30 minutes. I occasionally floss in the morning too but not everyday. I do however floss before bed every night, no exception.
Sorry this is so long I just want anyone else with gum disease to know it’s possible to be stable!! Just keep up with home care and your periodontal cleanings.
