My Everyday Makeup Look (Products, Order, etc) [Gift Card Entry]

Hey!! I feel like my camera quality is getting progressively worse lol but I tried to post in slightly different lighting for the each picture.

My makeup routine:
- Fill in/shape brows with the Anastasia brow pencil
- Apply Haus Labs concealer (shade 42) under eyes, a little around the nose, and a little under my mouth [LET SIT]
- A bit of black eyeshadow on outer corners of eye, some black Nyx pencil eyeliner in the same area to deepen the value of the black and then blend out with small brush/finger (I use both)
- Blend out concealer
- Apply Makeup Forever Limitless Brown lip liner
- Apply Nars lipgloss in shade Aragon (some days I put a decent amount, some days only a little, some days not at all. Depends on how matte I want my lips to look; only did a little today)
- Sky High Cosmic Black mascara to top and bottom lashes (not TOO much on the bottom because it can make my eyes look closed up if I over-apply)

Hair: Styled in a half-up half-down style with some “bangs” in the front. Didn’t do my edges today but I did a few days ago and that ties the style together too. I’m on day 6 hair and in dire need of a deep condition so it lacks some luster but it’s okay lol

Some notes:
- I know people joke about noticing when people don’t put makeup on their forehead but I feel like I can just sense acne cooking up whenever I put some on my forehead so I just avoid it.
- The Haus Labs concealer is a new edition, I usually use Nars concealer in the shade Amande
- I’d like to use more bronzer and blush but I run into the same problem as the first bullet point. I’ll probably come back another time when I do a full face and get some tips because I’m shaky with that
- Can’t contour my nose for the life of me so I mostly leave it alone but if you guys have tips I’m open to hearing them!
- Sometimes I curl my lashes but I can’t tell the difference that well so I usually don’t bother

Waxing vs. Sugaring

Hey y’all! I wanted to come here to discuss this because we all know hair removal can look different for Black women.

Do you ladies prefer waxing or sugaring? Particularly for Brazilian waxes? I see some pretty mixed opinions online but do you think one helped more than the other in terms of pain during the service, hyperpigmentation, ingrowns, etc?

Is this considered long on this sub?

Hi! I know what the general population would say but I’m wondering what the people of this subreddit would consider my hair. You guys have VERY long hair so I might be on the shorter end of the spectrum here but I’m genuinely curious.

I cut off some inches back in March so I know I still have to grow some back. I’m working through heat damage and embracing my curls.

First image is a little over a week ago, curly.

Second photo was from a few years ago with my hair straight, but I haven’t gotten taller since then so I think it’s still a decent metric. I surprisingly don’t have a lot of photos with my hair fully straightened where the length is visible so this is the best I’ve got.

Third is back in February on a (failed) twist out. At that time I was cutting about an inch off my hair every month so I don’t think it was enough time to fully regrow but I have no idea, I’ve been freestyling my hair trims.

I haven’t consciously done anything to retain length. I know getting it to its terminal length is a combo of patience and minimizing breakage (I could probably do better about step two lol). I also know that going curly means the hair will shrink more, which is fine (good, even, because that means the curls are healthy).

I’m just excited to get it as long as I can while also keeping it curly. ☺️

Who do I look like?

I’ve been getting a couple women today but I wanted to come here since this sub has been popping up on my TL and see what you guys think!

Wearing my natural hair on my birthday for the first time in ~9 years!

I’ve posted my journey a few times now but here’s my little story:

Decided to go back natural in July of last year so this is 11 months of hair transitioning, and I still have some ends to trim but I might wait a few months until I go to a curly hair specialist because I took off a decent chunk a few months ago.

- I wash every week
- apply no heat besides a diffuser (although I actually have *air dried* for the past month)
- I’ve been using random shampoos and conditioners but recently it’s been TGIN’s rosewater hydrating shampoo, Suave’s clarifying shampoo, and Aussie’s Moisture Milk conditioner
- use the Kinky Curly Knot Today leave in
- Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls
- The Doux’s Mousse Def
- depending on the wash day, I’ll use some gel in the front sections just because they get frizzier more easily
- I sleep with my hair pineappled in a bonnet at night
- I finger coil to blend the textures

For my birthday, I purposefully washed and styled my hair 2 days beforehand because I hate Day 1 hair 😭 It looks too limp, I need the hair to get some BODY

I just bought Miss Jessie’s Jelly Soft Curls gel, so I might try it out next wash day and come back with the results. I have to see how it mixes with my other products first!

If you guys have any wash n go tips I would love to hear ☺️ Always looking to improve.

Black girls in the sunlight >>>

Hey y’all!! I used to not like taking pictures in the sunlight (not sure why, may have been a skin texture-related thing) but I took some yesterday and I like the way they turned out!

The hair could be better, I tried to clip the longer pieces up but they kept falling during the day and messing up the pineapple’s shape lol it is what it is

I use a little black eyeshadow and black pencil eyeliner to smoke my eyes out a bit + mascara. I shape and fill my brows with the Anastasia skinny brow pencil and use Make Up Forever’s lip liner in the shade Limitless Brown and Nars lip gloss called Aragon but the gloss might be kinda rubbed off in these pics. I use a little concealer under my eye. I still don’t know a lot about lip combos and certain makeup techniques but I’ll learn more over time!

Natural Hair Journey 10 Months Later

Hey y’all!

10 months ago I decided to stop getting silk presses and start wearing my natural hair. I’ve trimmed around an inch off every month since then and cut 1-4 inches off in March because I was doing a DIY curly cut.

- First two pictures are my hair now undefined/brushed out
- Second two pictures are day 2 this week defined (finger coiled)
- Third two pictures are day 2 last week
- Seventh picture is day 5 last week
- Last picture is my starting point 10 months ago 😬
(sorry some of the pictures are blurry!)

I’m excited for when my hair is all the way back healthy, I have to be patient for now! Still a ways to go but we’re doing better than before.

I’ve been finger coiling to blend the textures a bit. I think I finally got a wash and go routine that gives me results I’m happy with!

Another Hair Typing Post (will be deleted)

So sorry!! I know these posts are probably annoying as heck and I’ll delete after I get responses because I don’t want to clog the subreddit.

Someone asked my hair type on the curly hair subreddit and my guess is 3B/3C but I want more outside opinions because I see a lot of disagreement online. I would go to the hair type subreddit but it’s a little dead :/ I know curl type is probably the least important thing when it comes to understanding one’s hair!

Ignore the ends because they’re damaged please 🙏🏾

Used mousse instead of gel last wash day

First 3 photos — day 2, last photo — day 5

Last wash day I decided to use mousse instead of my mousse + gel combo. I’m loving the increased volume and fluffiness, it’s way softer to the touch now.

The very front bits and the damaged ends might need the gel next time around so I’ll most likely work some gel back in to my routine, but I’ll use it more sparingly. I think I have a problem with overusing product lol

This time around I washed with The Doux’s clarifying shampoo, went in with TGIN’s rose water hydrating shampoo, and conditioned with Shea Moisture’s intensive hydration hair masque. I tried to keep the water warm instead of hot this time.

For styling, on wet hair, I used the Knot Today leave-in, Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls, and The Doux’s Mousse Def. Finger coiled and air dried. Usually use a diffuser but my hair dried fairly quickly, only the roots near the top were a bit damp a while after (most likely porosity differences and the fact that those bits were styled later).

Using pineapple method and a silk bonnet. Might start leaving my “bangs” out the pineapple so that they fall easier when I wake up.

Can’t wait until my hair is fully healthy and I can do my last little before and after 🙏🏾 patience is key. Next trim will be in a few weeks.

EDIT: Thank you to ALLLLL the sweet people in the comment section, you made my day :) Mousse girlies unite lol 💜
