Des filles francophones à Londres - meetings/language practise? 🇫🇷

Bonjour/hello! 32F here - I speak French but have very little opportunity to practise nowadays, worried I'm getting rusty - would love to speak it a lot more!

I went to some language events a few years ago, but have been out of the loop since. I'd really love to find even a small group of ladies to meet for walks, coffees, galleries etc where we can practise French together.

Please feel free to DM me if this sounds up your street - or if you know of any existing groups!

Merci les filles et à bientôt, j'espère 💗

Little prayer plant flowers!

I gave my mum a cutting from one of my prayer plants (Maranta leuconeura) a couple of years ago. It has been thriving ever since, and when I visited this week she was very excited to show me the beautiful, tiny flowers it's currently producing! It definitely prefers the warm, sunny conservatory over anywhere else. Just wanted to share how lovely they are 🌸

(The several plants I have in my very warm and sunny attic bedroom, however, haven't ever produced any flowers...a shame!)

Where's best (on Reddit) to post an ad for an available room in West London?

Hi! I'd like to share the Spareroom ad/details of a room that's soon available in a lovely house in West London on behalf of a friend. They're ideally looking for a female housemate aged between 24-34 or so.

I'm unsure if this is permitted in this group - does anyone know if so, and if not - if there are other London housing groups on Reddit I could try? (Other social media is covered by another housemate!) Thank you ☺️

Nostalgia for £2!

Found this jumbo mug for £2 in a charity shop! It gave me wave of childhood nostalgia - it features a design by Bang On The Door from the 90s (a British brand that's often recognisable due to Groovy Chick fame!).

Can't wait to make a jumbo cuppa...or soup!

Lovely lady rescued today!

Found this gorgeous female stag beetle (lucanus cervus) sitting in the middle of a busy pedestrian walkway, so I moved her to a wooded area. Couldn't resist taking some pics - look at her little eyelash antennae! 🖤

Stags are endangered in the UK, so don't forget to report your sightings (female, male or larvae) with the PTES here: https://stagbeetles.ptes.org/take-part-in-the-great-stag-hunt/

A wheel of colour, south of France

I was luckier than I've ever been with my finds on holiday, plus my first ever two tone piece (and possibly a small piece of pirate glass)! Some tile/pottery pieces too 🩵

(On a side note - my boyfriend is now a new member of the seaglass hunting crew!)

I believe I have been blessed!

Tiny guy landed on my hand while cooling off in the park (real feel 37⁰C here in London today!). He sat still for a while before running off!

[Request] Please help me celebrate my birthday! [England, UK]

Hello! I recently found this subreddit and have been enjoying reading the lovely messages (and seeing the cards that have been sent so far).

It's my birthday this month - the 28th May - and I've had a pretty rubbish past year, but thankfully now have a few things to look forward to. I usually only receive one card, as they seem to have gone out of fashion, but I love spending time reading the messages inside. I used to collect vintage postcards and saved lots of cards from when I was younger, but haven't had any new ones for a while!

My interests include: dogs, insects, nature, vintage clothing, music (60s to 00s), singing, art, food, travel (Europe only so far - but hope to visit Japan soon!), languages (I speak French and some Spanish)...to name a few!

Please let me know if you need any other info from me - first time posting!

P.S. please feel free to write your return address on/in the card and I'll send a card back to you next month!

A gorgeous stag beetle visitor!

(Photo from my dad!) My parents usually have stag beetles living in their garden, but were disappointed that they hadn't noticed any for the past couple of years. Yesterday, my dad found a female half buried in soil, and today was very excited that this lovely chap said hello - and sent us a photo straight away!

Stags are endangered in the UK, so this was particularly special. Wanted to share his photo for others to enjoy ☺️

Fell in love with one of these beautiful vintage bedside tables at a furniture charity shop recently - then a volunteer told me a matching piece was yet to be put out. Convinced my boyfriend we needed them and scored both for £30! They look lovely after a gentle clean - very excited to use these in our new place in a few months ☺️

Thank you for your help!
