Greek Theatre Aug 12 - The took us to church!

What a phenomenal show.

Lots of funk/soul/gospel . . . and there usually is I guess . . . but I feel like I got lucky hearing some of my favorites . . .

  • I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free - Billy Taylor
  • You Can Make It If You Try - Sly & the Family
  • Everyday People - Sly & the Family
  • Volunteer Slavery - Roland Kirk

Got a little swampy with Guilded Splinters too.

So happy I got to go!

Tech: Adding lighting to stock Uly top case

I commute year round in busy freeway traffic on my Uly and added top case lighting about a decade ago. Was concerned that the taillight was too obstructed by the top case and wanted something bigger and at eye-level for drivers behind me.

Price was about $60 of Amazon-grade commodity parts.

Full documentation is here: Buell Top Case Lighting

Key facets:

  • uses a double row of LED strip lights under the stock reflector (two nuts to remove, easy!)
  • two wire input to the LED with a resistor limiting light output when brakes not engaged
  • diodes used to prevent run and brake lights backfeeding each other
  • used weather resistant connector right at tail/rack junction so top case can easily be removed
  • routed wire in through case lid and left loop/slack for opening closing. has not failed in 10yrs of constant use

Enjoy.

FS: DSO at Greek tonight

Hello,

I've always wanted to see dark Star orchestra and was really excited when tickets went on sale for this show months ago.

This week I find myself out of town for a baseball event for my children and cannot attend.

12th row seat available for sale? Make an offer.

Can transfer them to you on Ticketmaster.

Thanks!

Bar end weights

I run my 2009 Uly at high speeds on California freeways all the time. Have been suffering from numbness in my hands in last couple years. Not sure if vibration related or I'm just getting old but I thought I'd try some bar end weights.

Didn't see anything for sale I liked or was sure would work. Wanted to keep the original end plugs that work with the barkbusters.

Turned down some stainless bar stock I had in the shop and made a set on the lathe in about 15 minutes. Ten ounces each. Wish I'd done it years ago.

Turned the end down to interference fit the end plug and epoxie in place

Ready for install

Rubber Boa in NorCal

Came across this guy when hiking around Convict Lake over the weekend. My son relocated him off the trail. Gentle little one.

We have an eight year old chicken ( Clementine) who is not long for this world (days?). The next in line for the throne was attacking her today. Our pibble(Lucy / Bongo) ran out and shielded the old girl immediately and fended of the other one. They've all been friends for a long time and I've never seen anything like it. Any dog readers here about to tell me this is her "I'm about to eat you" posture?
