Wiggle GIFS from Brooklyn night 1 using my original Nintendo 3DS from 2011

Thought I'd break out my 3DS to snap a couple pictures at the show at Brooklyn Steel last night. The photos themselves were pretty crappy & low quality, but the 3DS captures in stereoscopic 3D so there's actually two pictures in the data with slightly different perspectives. This lets you create "wiggle gifs" by alternating between the frames quickly. (Try alternating which eye you have closed and see for yourself!)

Bonus glamour shots of the handheld that just won't die

Show was unreal btw

Welp, better late than never I guess! Finally finished producing my camp's vlog from last year. Hype train full speed ahead! - NODE @ Burning Man 2025

I produced a vlog for my first burn back in 2022, but had no idea what to expect and was overwhelmed by the sensory overload.

Three years later, I went back in to Tomorrow, Today with the intention of producing a lil post-event vlog again. Little did I know it would turn into one of the most chaotic, roller-coaster years in recent memory.

Proud to contribute a small piece of my camp's lore to our shared BRC history.

I head to Reno on Monday! Should probably start packing...

Porter Robinson B2B Ninajirachi Chinese Laundry (More new music on the way? Collab Tour? 👀)

Fun fact: WannaCry was a massive 2017 global cyberattack involving a ransomware crypto-worm that locked computer files and demanded Bitcoin payments.

Yaeji Appreciation Post

Holy S#%T did my girl come to play last night in Bushwick. Absolutely monster set. There's really nobody matching her unique sound right now. Such a nuanced blend of trap, bedroom bop, chillwave, even some trancey/hardstyle stuff. I find NYC crowds struggling to shut up and dance this summer, but there were a few tracks last night that shut the entire venue up and demanded a bumping dancefloor. Incredible range, never a dull moment. Also loved her supporting DJs. Baalti had a tall task of following Yaeji's first set outside, and I thought he rose to the occasion.

Also kinda felt like she was dropping her own unreleased IDs left and right. It's now been over THREE years since she released her last full-length album, With A Hammer:

https://open.spotify.com/album/2VYo0PSqdxVTMI0ydKUtoL?si=vn8HYSEdSUqHE8-3mq-3Aw

So I'd have to assume she is sitting on a treasure trove of heaters. Definitely a handful of tracks with the quintessential Yaeji vocals that I had never heard in my life. Will be on the edge of my seat to see if this show was the kickoff for an album cycle.

Unfortunately, I'm an elder millennial and only had her earlier set in me stamina-wise. Can anyone who stuck around for her 2am set indoors let me know how it was?!

It was also my first time seeing a show in the outdoor area at 99 Scott, and I thought it was a fantastic venue. Surprised there haven't been more shows there this summer. Curious of why they moved inside around midnight? My guess would be for noise complaint prevention, but Mirage used to have music until ungodly hours of the early morning. Speaking of, it kinda reminded me of OG Mirage pre-2018 before it all went to shit. More intimate, thoughtful greenery, space to dance, killer sunset views, etc.

That is all. Just some reflections as I nurse a hangover, sip my coffee, and wake up to her electric cleaners set:

It took a year of getting gud (and we may have forgot a flare last night...) but the boys finally A7 peaked

Been playing on and off with my two buddies since the game launched last summer. Wild to think about how trash we were our first few tenderfoot runs, imagining how hard ascent 7 would be.

We had been waiting for a slightly easier rotation to try an pull it off. There were definitely a few tricky spots. However, teamwork finally overcame all obstacles after months of going rogue taught us that the strength of the wolf is the pack.

Got two hours left if anyone is feeling brave!

Some tips:

  • Shore - Super easy shore today. There's a big ramp that gashes up to the left on the main face. Then keep following it far left into the fog, and there's a hidden cakewalk staircase in a crevasse.
  • Roots - Roots is probably the hardest of the set. My friends did some scouting without me and found a killer route that I don't entirely remember. We dropped to the floor early, snaked through some tree routes, and skipped an annoying zombie entirely.
  • Alpine - Alpine looked more brutal than it turned out to be, but my crew found the perfect spot for a rope gun/chain gun that allowed us to jet through the spikey inner gorge. Slow and steady, and the cold nights + cold wind can really catch you off guard.
  • Caldera - Certainly one of the more navigable lava fields. We veered right at first, and there were only one or two sketchy jumps. Handful of bird nests as well.
  • Kiln - The lack of difficulty on this kiln is what made us want to attempt the A7. Felt really short, and the best path was never too hard to find. We immediately went left out of the cave, and the whole first section was a breeze.

Don't forget your flare! 😅

My crew got to the end last night and realized we accidentally dropped our flare using a blow dart at some point. That's how we knew it like the back of our hand this morning before the reset.

Happy climbing!

8 hours to kill? Bonnaroo set it is!

Went to Bonnaroo myself, ten years in a row. 2008-2018. So the farm has a very special place in my heart, feels like I grew up there.

Makes me so proud to see how f’ing killer this crowd was. You can feel the anticipation pre-set of diehard fans waiting in the mud and Tennessee heat. Very jealous, as I was just at gov ball and the crowd was….not as good! Lol

KNICKS IN 5! Pumped I’m getting home just in time for the parade. Goddamn I love NYC.

Pronunciation help for translated song for Parisian proposal in June

Bonjour!

I'm proposing to my girlfriend in Paris in June, and decided to translate her favorite song into French to play for her on the guitar. I think it will hopefully be a special moment! But I know that nailing the pronunciation and vocal inflection of the language will be key to it feeling authentic and practiced.

The song is Patience by Porches, a singer/songwriter from Brooklyn.

I recorded a demo of me playing it and uploaded it to Soundcloud.

I've listened to a bunch of pronunciation guides on youtube, but I thought it best to go straight to the source and directly ask a community that is full of French speakers.

Would appreciate any and all feedback on delivery, annunciation, and emphasis. Also I did the translation myself, and pulled from a couple different sources. I also compromised on a perfect translation in a few places for the sake of syllable matching and flow.

Also, for reference, my converted lyrics are below, with my attempted phonetic pronunciation guide.

Greatly appreciate the assistance in making it a memorable proposal!

Merci beaucoup 🇫🇷
