Ash by Hand earns its second Official Selection.
I’m glad to share that Ash by Hand, my AI-assisted SmartShot proof-of-concept short, has been selected for Mobile Film University, now in its 8th edition and based in Ibagué, Colombia.
This year’s programming theme is environmental storytelling, under the slogan “El Cine Transforma Realidades” — inviting filmmakers across Colombia and Latin America to address ecological urgency through mobile-shot work. The festival is run by Conservatorio Audiovisual alongside Mobile Film Home Colombia, and its mission — beyond exhibition — includes free workshops and audiovisual training aimed at democratizing who gets to make films.
That mission lines up closely with how I approach this work. Ash by Hand was produced under full AI-disclosure practice — every tool and step documented as part of the process, not hidden behind it. Selections like this one are a good signal that transparent, AI-assisted filmmaking has a real place in festival programming, not just as a novelty but as a serious practice.
This follows Ash by Hand’s selection into Lift-Off Sessions’ Filmmaker Sessions Volume 8 — two selections in, and the film keeps finding audiences who want to talk about how it was made as much as what it says.

I'm continuing my work on designing comics using Claude, Midjourney, and OpenArt. Inspired by Wil Eisner and his seminal work, this is a short proof-of-concept work that illustrates my learning to date.

Been slow working on my 2nd Eisner-tribute comic, "The Stoop," as I focus on how best to tell (and end) the story. #NFAP is always story-dependent and world-specific. Using SeedanceAI to output my period-specific, multi-character drama has been a joy.

New vibe directing short film made in OpenArt Director. Loving the flexibility of this platform. Story first then character and location design and shot listing. Revise as required. I’m a fan of old British cinema so that was the basis of this film.
