I just got my BB58 Burgundy, and the color is absolutely beautiful. The red dial takes on different shades in sunlight, giving it a lovely sense of depth. It’s also very comfortable on the wrist, and the thickness feels just right.
I have a question about hand-winding: does it feel the same as the Ranger when fully wound, with that noticeable sensation of the mainspring slipping? It feels less obvious on my BB58 than on my Ranger, so I’m not quite sure when it’s fully wound.

Just received my Hamilton 250th Anniversary Limited Edition.
My first impression is that it feels incredibly light and comfortable on the wrist, with a beautiful vintage charm. The hand-wound movement with an 80-hour power reserve is more than enough for daily use, allowing me to enjoy the traditional interaction of winding a mechanical watch without having to do it too often.
The only thing I’m not a big fan of is the original NATO strap. Although it definitely matches the military-inspired character of the watch, I personally prefer something thinner and more comfortable, so I’ll probably switch it to a Perlon strap. I think it will complement the simple vintage style of this watch perfectly.
I noticed something: when I shake the watch, there is a slight sound. Could it be because of the anti-magnetic or dust cover inside the case?

I bought three inexpensive movements for practice. My main focus is learning how to install and remove the balance assembly, so I did not touch the other parts of the movements.
However, I noticed that every time I reinstall the balance for the 3rd or 4th time, the amplitude becomes abnormally low.
At first, I thought it might be caused by insufficient lubrication, so I added some oil to the jewels, but the amplitude still remained extremely low.
I also noticed some abnormal vertical wobbling of the balance wheel while it was running.
Is it possible that I accidentally bent the balance staff pivot during installation? I tried to handle everything as gently as possible, but I am still wondering if repeated installation attempts could cause this kind of damage.
I would appreciate any advice from experienced watchmakers. Thank you!

The video shows exactly what I’m referring to. I experienced the same thing myself while adjusting the beat error, with the balance wheel stopping briefly before starting to oscillate again.
What could cause this? Is there any risk of damaging the movement when this happens? Thank you!

I’ve tested the gear train and the pallet fork, and both appear to be working correctly. The escape wheel is delivering power normally, and the pallet fork moves freely. However, once the balance assembly is installed, the balance wheel barely moves or does not oscillate at all. What could be causing this problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

This was my first attempt at a full movement overhaul, including complete disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and reassembly. Unfortunately, after putting everything back together, the movement is behaving as shown in the video.
Does anyone know what might be causing this issue or where I should start troubleshooting?

I just bought this watch. It has only recently been released, and the moment I saw it, I thought it was something special.

One thing worth noting is that the dial appears more silver in person rather than the pure white color shown in the catalog photos. If you’re considering this model, that’s something to keep in mind.
Overall, it’s a unique and highly practical watch that made a strong first impression on me.

I recently picked up a Hamilton Khaki Power Reserve, but the stainless-steel bracelet felt a little too heavy for my taste. After switching to a Perlon strap, the watch became significantly more comfortable and breathable on the wrist. One of the things I enjoy most is being able to swap between different strap colors depending on my mood, which gives the watch a completely different character each time.

I’ve recently fallen in love with the Seiko Presage series, so I ended up buying one of them. I really think the dial are beautiful, especially the way they change with different lighting and viewing angles. Although they’re powered by the 4R57 movement, whose accuracy is only average, I don’t mind too much—I just treat it as buying the dial and getting the movement for free.

Hi everyone, I recently bought a second-hand Junkers Iron Annie JU 52 with a hand-wound Molnija 3603 movement.

I checked some information online and found that the power reserve is supposed to be around 41 hours. The seller told me that the watch had undergone a complete service about a year ago.
I also took the watch to a watch repair center for a water resistance test, and it passed the test. In addition, the movement amplitude at full wind was measured at around 300 degrees.

The issue is that, even when fully wound, the actual power reserve is only about 32–34 hours.

Would you recommend sending it in for a full service and mainspring replacement, or is this level of power reserve still considered acceptable for this movement? Thank you.

I’d like to share a few watches I’ve collected over time. Although none of them are particularly expensive, each one has its own unique charm that I really appreciate. I’m also quite fond of watches with power reserve indicators, so several of them feature that complication.
