Carb Replacement or Refurb for '65 C100?

I recently became the 3rd owner of a 1965 Honda C100. I bought it for $400 and boy does it run rough. I suspect part of the reason for this is the aftermarket carburetor that is already on it (see approximation in "Carb 1" link below). This carb doesn't fit well even with a 90 degree intake adapter. The orientation of the fuel intake also does not allow for the leg shield to be on and it has no air filter.

I'm looking to buy a replacement OEM-style Keihin carb for it, but I am seeing a lot of mixed reviews. I found some on Ebay that look to be in Honda boxes, but they are labeled for the C70 (Carb 2 and Carb 3). I also have the original carb, but it is missing the choke lever/shutter and the throttle slide. I can't find replacements for those so I am not sure it can be repaired. Any ideas for what I should do?

Interest in a VT fantasy football league?

Would this battery work in a C100?

These batteries are $10 at Walmart. They seem to be the same size as the 6N2-2A that the C100 uses. Is there any reason why I can’t use this?

For reference the 6N2 has 0.2 amps and 20 hours of capacity and is also 6V.

Buying a 1966 Honda Cub C50 tomorrow, what should I look for?

I’m looking at a non-running C50 tomorrow morning. It’s my understanding it ran when pit into storage in 2013. Is there anything in particular I should check? I agreed on $400 with the guy.

Any experience joining with a PhD or more specifically as an entomologist?

I am a student working on a PhD in biochemistry, specifically in mosquito biology. It is my understanding that the Air Force has a medical entomology job and I am interested. Right now I’m working towards being a professor, but I want to see if there is anything else I’d might like.

Is there anyone in this sub who got a commission with an advanced degree? I read something about MDs being commissioned as captains- Lt Col depending on experience. How does that work? I’ve also heard about enlisted people being lied to about their job. Is that something that can happen to me?

I’d ask a recruiter these questions, but they’re probably too specific and I don’t really want to give a recruiter my contact info.

Miss Acorn’s Embark test is at the lab!

We think she is probably a Doberman/German Shepherd mix, but it’s possible there’s some greyhound, whippet, or malinois in there. About 16 months old and just 55lbs! One of the calmest and tolerant dogs I’ve ever had, but boy does she love to bark at other dogs on walks.

Acorn’s test is on the way!

The shelter thought she was a Doberman/GSD mix but we think there’s some sighthound in there. Shes only about 55lbs so something is making her little!

What is the best way to make a really minty mojito?

I really like a heavily minted mojito and my current strategy is to add a few sprigs of mint and lime zest to my simple syrup while I’m making it. It turns a nice green color and smells wonderful. I was wondering though, would I be better off just soaking the mint leaves in the rum I’m going to use for a couple of days instead?

My dog likes to run upstairs to chew the last bite of her breakfast and burp in my face. What does she mean by this?

My girlfriend feeds my dog breakfast every morning while I’m waking up in bed. Every time, she (the dog) runs upstairs the instant her bowl is empty and jumps on the bed. She chews her last kibbles 3 inches from my face and then burps at me. What is she saying by this?
