Very interesting. Must listen to the entire video.

I hate my oven\stove combo. I've only had it two years but the simmer is too high, after two service calls. The oven front glass pulled away from the unit once, requiring the door replacement. And the installers forgot the broiler pan and I'm too fekking old and lazy to argue with stores and installers to get it. Instead of buying a broiler pan assembly, I may just say fuk it and get a new range.
Natural Gas, central coast California. I'd like convection, as we don't have room for an air fryer. I've never cared to use a center burner. I have $ but we're not richy-rich. I cook daily and bake bread weekly. And those burner flames should truly SIMMER.
Whatchu got for me. TIA
I'm looking forward to more opinions. 🙂 Thanks
Hi again. OK... I'm making a picadillo today. Mexican beef & vegetables. There will be a sauce (tomato sauce & beef broth but not enough to cover 4 quarts of entree.
Am I expected to top the jar with water or broth after I've filled the jars? TIA
This is a question only my rebels will give a concise answer. Here's my quandary:
I like cooking "for an army". It's easier, budget friendlier, and gets done faster. My army is now two.
I HATE HATE HATE hot-packing jars. It's 1355774⁰F around here now and the thought of heating jars, scooping hot stuff in hot jars, dealing with the jar that popped its bottom off because the jar or contents were too hot or cold, etc etc etc. a hot mess, for sure.
Let's say I want to make pork chili verde chili the old fashioned way for dinner The 8 quart pressure cooker did a great job. We ate our 3 bowls but now I have 7 quarts of chili. I put the entire pot in the fridge.
Would the world stop rotating if, early the next morning tomorrow morning, I set up my canning gear, pour off the leftovers in quart jars, and give it a 90 min pressure can?
What say you? Why not?
As a retired old lady, I watch a LOT of L&O and SVU during the day. There are many actors that fine-tuned their art on Wolf Productions. When I see Ann, I always have to confirm her with "the look"... I'll say out loud, "there she is again!". Here, she's a social worker in an HIV clinic. SVU S2 E13 "Victims"
Update! Two of us ate the soup, and now, 14 hours later, we are fine! 🙂
Made 8 quarts (2 batches... One broke...made in presto electric pressure canner) taco soup.
14 hours later, I checked the seals. One failed.
Is that quart edible? Ground beef, pinto beans, tomatoes, broth & corn.
Thanks.
Dave read more than once that rioters took baseball bats and "sawed-off hockey sticks" to the riots.
Yo, I'm 3rd generation southern Californian. What exactly does the sawing off of a 🏑 give me? A stick. A shorter stick than I would want. 🤷
Here, I guess I could cut off the head of a golf club. Now I have a metal hollow -point pokey stick.
In an effort to get my money's worth, I agreed to hook up a new modem and the "invincible router" with battery backup. After a week of my connections disconnecting randomly, I hooked up the modem to my Eero system and it fixed all the little irritating issues. My modem and the main eero are already connected to a battery backup so it's not really necessary. 870 download mps to the eero system.
When trying to troubleshoot (4 separate calls), spectrum tech support wouldn't move my ticket up beyond their instruction lists. All denied knowing what an eero was, and all offered spectrum extenders (which wasn't the main problem) 🤦
If I take that invincible router and battery backup unit back to a spectrum store, will they take the discount away? It's a $30/mo savings. TIA
I've been canning about 8 months. Just randomly canning beans or soup of extra things that won't fit in the freezer.
Hub was leaving for the vacation home yesterday. He asked if there's anything he could take to eat. He knows how to cook. But he's being him, as he does.
I said sure. I have some ham & bean soup in this jar, and bean soup wo ham in this jar.
He texted me yesterday. "That bean soup was BOMB!" He's 73. Yes, this is funny. He said, "Bring more jars to keep here!
That's right. I now have incentive to buy an electric pressure canner. 😂😂😂
I was gifted a friend's 20 year old Bernina 1300 MC serger. I am becoming intimately trained in threading the unit for 4 thread overlock. But...
Specifically, the left needle thread doesn't seem to be catching the thread that would act as the bobbin. I am assuming this is the lower looper thread. Per tutorials, I have this needle a smidge higher than the other , but that doesn't seem to matter. There is either a long tail of thread or the thread breaks.
Any clues? I'm usually pretty bright in understanding machine mechanisms, but I am stumped. TIA.
...to troubleshoot? My old boss gifted to me a Bernina 1300DC. It took 2 hours to thread and rethread it. I finally got it to run and repaired a seam.
Today, because the stitches were SO THIN, I turned the stitch length to "4", to get a wider stitch. I don't even know if "length" or "width" are different terms than conventional sewing.🤷 I was able to see a wider stitch, but not to my satisfaction.
So then I tried to make another test seam. Nothing but holes. 4 threads and zero stitches.
Where do I begin? There are no bernina dealers nearby. Thanks. 🤞
