Those on clay soil - how are your cracks doing?
I suppose extreme drought and houses built on clay soils don’t mix well.

We are only 5 days in. She’s 6 and has never lived in a home. She’s so sweet and gentle and decompressing nicely.
The issue. My husband’s asthma has been uncontrollable. We are hoping it was just a coincidence as he’s never had an issue before (a few sneezes at the most) and has had dogs in the past. He seemed fine when we met her. He’s been vigilant with inhalers and allergies medicine, we have two air purifiers, but he’s not getting any relief currently.
We are going to wait until the weekend in hope it eases, but it’s looking less like a coincidence.
I’m sure she’d be readopted quickly because she’s so sweet and beautiful, but I’m worried about the emotional damage we would cause her going back to the kennels even temporarily. The guilt might crush me.
We are adopting a saluki cross on Thursday.
She’s 6 and not showing a prey drive but is pretty shutdown at the moment, so could easily change.
Our next door neighbours have 2 cats (who also have a dog which the cats love). The cats both like to enter our house and lounge in our garden (I don’t mind, I love cats).
We live in the UK and our garden is small. What can I do to stop the cats coming in our garden? I would be beyond devastated if something happened to them and want to keep them safe.
Looking for a gift for a coffee lover.
We got so many lovely ethical independent roasters in the Cotswolds, can anyone recommend a roaster that offers a tour?
Feeling really out of my depth, and would appreciate some advice if anyone has experience!
I’ve set up a bare trust for my close family member. Alongside them, I’m a trustee. The trust has a bank account- 0% interest.
My family member has both physical and learning difficulties. The funds are earmarked to help provide care/comfort for them In later life. A lot of trust is put on me.
I’m great with financial planning but have no experience with wealth management.
We want the funds to grow modestly in the most tax efficient way possible.
We spoke to a two financial advisors. I expected running fees but one asked for a buy-in fee, and this made my family really nervous (30-40k, which would take around 2-3 years to break even), and the other was being allusive on fees. I’m not sure what fees are normal, the trust has a few hundred thousand in.
We haven’t explored any investment firms as I’m not clear if they provide tax advice.
In an ideal world we would like someone to do it all and we just check-in twice a year- and after fees there is still a modest growth. Does this exist, where, and what are normal costs?
I’m conscious my family member is missing out on interest every month I don’t have this sorted and I feel awful.
I’m in the UK. I’m having a clear out of my old unused HUF decks. Some rare, some not.
For example- I have a HUF x MARVEL black gold foil spider man from a mystery pack (not my photo, but the same deck).
It’s been years since I sold anything. Is eBay the best spot?
Removed wallpaper. Previous owners had painted their names and the year underneath in white paint.
I sanded, sealed the whole wall with GARDZ as there was peeling paint too. Two coats of white paint and then two coats of Dulux dark green
Looked great at first but now a week later, the graffiti is showing through. Will another coat help or do I need to do something different?
Paid £600 for a professional to repair missing plaster around our new fireplace and where we removed coving.
It’s so rough (texture) and uneven/lumpy. Our brand new oak mantle was also damaged by water/sealant. It’s day 8 and cracks are now appearing between the new/old plaster, and it’s looks even lumpier than ever with the shrinking.
I don’t want him back. I don’t have the energy to fight. This was meant to be a treat as I’m just so physically exhausted from all the work and general poor health, and the house has really fought with us every step of the way.
Will a go with the wall sander and some filler be enough? I really need a peptalk.
