Repeating the Forbidden Ritual
Esoteric returns.
One of the earliest fonts ever forged by Justified Ink, the original Esoteric was raw, gritty, and low-budget in the best possible way—a rough experiment in gothic lettering, decoration, and the unknown. Years later, we summoned it again.
The result is Esoteric II: The Heretic—a highly decorative gothic calligraffiti font built around modular letterforms, strange ornamentation, and a deliberate disregard for the rules.
Every piece of the alphabet is designed to connect, lock, and build upon the next. Decorative elements can chain together across a line, wrap around a composition, or form repeating patterns and circles. What begins as a letter can become an entire structure.

Kowloon is a sharp, fiery fusion of gothic structure and decorative print lettering, built from serrated edges, aggressive angles, and innumerable spikes. Every letter feels carved, forged, and set ablaze—ornamental enough to command attention, yet structured enough to hold its shape as a working typeface.
The name comes from 九龍 (Gáu Lùhng), Cantonese for “Nine Dragons,” a name deeply associated with the Kowloon peninsula of Hong Kong. The imagery felt right for a letterform built around strength, ornament, and controlled chaos.
There is also something personal buried inside the design. When I was young, there was a Chinese restaurant that fascinated me with its elaborate interior—golden dragons, carved stone forms, dimensional ornament, and decorations that seemed to belong to another world. Those details stayed with me. Kowloon draws from that memory, filtered through gothic lettering and pushed into something sharper, stranger, and more aggressive.

The Legend of the Big Iron
Big Iron rides in with the dust of the open range. This slab serif western font draws from the visual language of spaghetti westerns, gunfighter ballads, hand-painted signs, and the hard-edged lettering of an older frontier. Bold, upright forms give it the weight of forged steel, while its proportions carry the unmistakable character of the American West.
The five styles of Big Iron progressively build upon the foundation, adding sharper details and increasingly elaborate decorative elements. Each variation was constructed from shapes and parts inspired by a real Big Iron shooter, transforming the silhouette of a legendary sidearm into a visual language for letterforms. The result is a type family that moves from rugged and restrained to ornate and unmistakably western.
