is the 355 bus ever full? from santiago del teide to masca

Hi

We’re planning to drive the 355 from Santiago del Teide, but I’ve noticed online that it’s a very popular route. Is there a possibility it could be full in the afternoon? If so, what alternatives would you recommend? Thanks!👍🏼👍🏼

how do you guys style your hair UNDER a v-part wig so you still look cute underneath with just ur natural hair ?

how do you guys style your hair UNDER a v-part wig so you still look cute when it comes off ?

okay so i just bought a unice kinky straight v-part wig 18 inches (link: https://deep.unice.com/productDetail?productId=4768) to use as a protective style. I’m starting a new job soon so i want something quick and natural looking that doesn't need a full salon install

my MAIN problem right now is what to actually do with my natural hair underneath.

i go to the gym a lot and also have roommates (non black and mixed gender)

i wld like to take the wig off at home or at the gym or even some days when im out and still have a cute hairstyle underneath (that can also sit super flat when the wig is clipped on)

my problem is i cannot wear cornrows (look at image 2 - i have a TERRIBLEEE head shape/forehead/hairline)

a few questions for anyone who wears v-parts daily:

  1. what is the best foundation if i can’t wear all back cornrows? if i do flat twists, do i just put the ends into a low puff/bun, or do i HAVE to pin them down flat?
  2. how do you handle the leave-out with flat twists? i only want minimal leave-out (a tiny bit in the center V and a few thin pieces at my temples to cover thinning). how do you braid the rest of your head while leaving those specific pieces out? do you just mini-twist or braid the leave-out separately when you take the wig off?
  3. is this actually low manipulation? my main goal is growing out my ends. if i’m taking the wig on and off daily, clipping it in, and sweating at the gym, am i ruining my ends or does this actually help with retention?

ijust wanna know how to protect my natural hair, wear a wig and alternate between the two styles seamlessly 😩🥹

thanks so much in advanceee!!

image 1+2 - the wig i got
image 3 - my hairline and forehead (shows why i can’t have cornrows underneath and go to the gym with just that / look cute etc)
image 4 - my natural hair
image 5+6 - my hair iconnnn
image 7 onwards: some tiktok ideas i saw. , not sure how good they would be under a v part wig

[UK] When a 3rd party is doing your background check, do they email your old employers separately?

Hi,

I was just wondering about if when a 3rd party background screening company is undertaking the screening process , do they contact old employers separately?

What information do they verify?

And, my most important question - when they contact old employers, do they state the company they’re doing this on behalf of? E.g. we are emailing about person X‘s employment on behalf of company Y - with company Y being the new company?

Reading the plots of Victorious episodes in written form makes it so much more obvious how absurd this show really is - but I love it

You can't predict where a sentence is going until the very end lol

Has anyoen done an AIESEC Global Volunteer trip? I have a few questions!

Basically I've got about 5 months free before I start my next job and I really want to spend some of it doing something worthwhile abroad. I love travelling and I've done a bit of volunteering before (taught English in Thailand for a summer a while back) and rlly loved it.

I've been looking at AIESEC's Global Volunteer programmes, which DO have fees of around 500-700 USD (500£). i'd have to sort myown flights/insurance/visa, and it says accommodation + 1 meal a day is covered but doesn't say much about what the actual living situation is like.

so i have some questions for those who have done this / know anything about the programme -

So a few things I'd love honest opinions on:

  • Is AIESEC actually legit?
  • What was your accommodation actually like? Shared dorms, homestay, etc?
  • Did you genuinely make close friends ?
  • Was the fee worth it in hindsight or did it feel like a lot for what you got?
  • Any red flags ?

Thank u!!

3-4 months solo (F22) in South America v Southern Africa? Wld love some advice on non-hostel socialising

Hello!

I (F22) have got sept-dec (3-4 months) completely free between my job contracts, and its my last ever long stretch of time off so I want to actually use it instead of doomscrolling. I am travelling solo, and my budget is around £4k but I can stretch a bit more if the trip genuinely needs it (have a large savings pool).

For some context, I’ve had to plan this later than most people doing a "3 months abroad" because I was in hospital for a long stretch earlier this year so this planning only really started a few weeks ago, not months in advance like it probably should have :(

I'm trying to decide between South America and Southern Africa. I've already done two months in southern Thailand before (I was volunteering), so I'm not looking to just redo Southeast Asia again.

One issue with me tho is that I'm not really a hostel or backpacker person. I’ve never really tried it before but whenever I have to hang out with cool/chill/party people I really struggle esp because some of them seem to struggle with me being a shy black girl. I naturally am quite corporate and analytical although I can be funny when people are comfy with me :( That said, I still want to meet people while I'm out there (I'm just bad at the small talk and I do much better with actual structure, like day trips or small group tours, rather than hoping meetups happen organically).

For South America, I would love something like Peru and Bolivia into Colombia, over 10-12 weeks. For Southern Africa, I'm considering something like South Africa, Namibia, Zambia. and Botswana, over a similar timeframe.

I guess my questions are

  • Is it possible to travel casually given my issues with meeting people when backpacking?
  • How feasible are these trips for someone with not much experience going to unique places abroad?
  • Are companies like Contiki or G Adventures worth the extra cost?
  • What are the best platforms to get do some work exchanges (worldpackers, workaway etc)

Worsening pain 5 months after surgery, and living a basically normal life for 2 months? Is this standard, or should I be worried?

Hi,

TLDR; worsening pain almost 5 months after surgery, I don't know what to do

I had a displaced fracture in early Feb and fixation of my lateral malleolus mid-Feb

I progressed back to normality relatively quick and by week 10-12 was walking and living fully independently, and even travelled abroad for work. The only constraint was that I walked a bit slower than others, but not noticeably so

Since week 12 (mid May), I have been recovering really well, and have travelled abroad several times, and gone to concerts. I am definitely not back to normal, especially speed and ankle stamina wise, but there wasn't much going on

I then decided to go to the gym 4 days ago on Friday, and try and ease back into my old strength training routine. I did Smith Machine squats, the hip thrust machine, leg press machine, and RDLs. The weights were much lower than what I used to do, but I did find them challenging due to muscle loss after immobility. On Friday itself I felt fine, and same with most of Saturday

However, I then went on a 50 minute walk on Saturday and since then, have been experiencing the worst pain since my surgery. My surgery site is throbbing, as well as all over my foot and heel. It hurts even at rest, and walking is also uncomfortable and tough.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Is it likely the weight lifting or could it be something else?

I just don't know what to do, I live in the UK where medical care is not always great and the NHS already discharged me despite me flagging some months ago that I was worried about the medium-to-long term recovery process.

Advice needed - any possibility of getting flights refunded / destination changed / credit points given or anything changes at all ?

TLDR: We have flights that we just don’t want anymore and would love to get the money back somehow or rebook to a different location

Looking for some advice from anyone who’s dealt with similar issues before.

My mum booked flights for 4x of my family members to Tenerife for August in Economy Plus

At the time the prices seemed high but manageable, but now we’re actually pricing everything, it’s looking a lot more expensive than we thought and probably isn’t something we think is worth it considering it’s Tenerife.

Another factor is that earlier this year I had a surgery and don’t know what my mobility will look like by August. I don’t know whether that’s relevant from BA’s perspective, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

I’ve read BA’s policy and I understand the tickets are non-refundable. From what I can see, changes are £60 per passenger plus any fare difference.

Before I accept that we’ve potentially lost a lot of money, I just wanted to ask whether there are any realistic options I might be overlooking.
- Can you change the destination rather than just the dates?

- Is it worth calling BA and asking about travel credit or rebooking options, or will they just quote the policy back at me?
- Has anyone had any success getting any flexibility from BA on non-refundable tickets?
- Are there any UK consumer protections that might apply here, or is this simply a case of us changing our minds?
- If my mobility deteriorates and a doctor advises against travel, does that change anything, or would that only be relevant for travel insurance?

I’m just trying to work out whether there’s anything worth trying before I write the money off.😭😭😭
Thanks!!

is 9 days in shanghai too much time?

everywhere i seearch on google people seem to do shanghai in like 3-4 days as part of a bigger china trip and i’m there for 1.5 weeks.

is that going to get boring? as in would i end up just wandering around malls killing time.

so would it be worth using a day or two for a side trip? i keep seeing suzhou and hangzhou mentioned, are those easy to do as day trips or am i better off just staying put

or should i try and travel to another city (chengdu etc)

edit: it’s my first time in china, coming from a western country. i’ve been to asia before but not by myself. i really want to maximise this trip since im travelling so far.

What to do with a huge gap (6+ months) between uni ending and job contract starting?

edit: some people have been reaching out about this, if you’re in the same boat pls feel free to message !!

Hi all, as some of you may be aware, consulting firms tend to recruit very far in advance, and I now find myself with an offer that starts 6+ months from now.

I’m really wondering how to spend my time given this HUGE gap - the few uni friends i have work full time or live pretty far and it’s not plausible for me to spend that much time with them (maybe a couple days every few months).

I’m in London, so idk if that means there would be some opportunities

The obvious answer is “travel” - but I don’t have the funds to do super long term trips, I have 2x 10 day trips over summer but that’s it.

I would love to be able to find a group to hang out with in London during the days/ some nights out, while also finding a way to make some side income and keep my life structured instead of scrolling all day but I don’t know where to start!

hey, just wanted to get some opinions because i’m a bit unsure what’s safe

i had ORIF surgery on my ankle on feb 17. about 3.5 weeks later i had to take an emergency evacuation flight (wasn’t optional), and that went okay but i was in a boot and upgraded so i could keep my leg more comfortable

now i’m 11.5 weeks post-op and looking at doing an 8 hour flight
then another 8 hour flight around 13.5 weeks
and then at 15.5 and 16.5 weeks i will do a ~15 hour flight

so overall it’s a lot of flying in a short-ish time after surgery and i don’t know if that’s risky

  • i’m 22
  • i can walk pretty normally now in trainers
  • not using the boot anymore
  • my doctor said i have “pretty good blood flow”
  • last time i had assistance at the airport which helped a lot

my main worry is stuff like blood clots, swelling, or messing up healing by sitting for that long

i probably can’t afford to upgrade seats every time, so i’m wondering what actually matters most in terms of precautions?

like:

  • is walking around the plane enough?
  • should i be wearing compression socks?
  • is this amount of flying even considered safe at this stage?

would really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been in a similar situation or knows more about this, because i can’t tell if i’m overthinking it or not

not to be that one friend that's too woke - but does anyone else have a lot of issues with monthly maintenance videos on reels/tiktok/YT?

it literally feels like the same language you'd use to describe a car or house (or any product), not a human. and women dropping £200-1000 per month on changing how they look marginally is actually extreme - all on haircuts, nails, injections, wigs/extensions, eyelash and eyebrow maintenance etc

as a woman, i know that it's naive to pretend that your visual presentation doesn't affect your personal and professional life to an extent. but there's a difference between brushing your hair before you leave your house vs pretending that £70-100 on nails alone per fortnight is normal.
