Rome vs Naples for first solo trip

Hi everyone, I'm currently trying to decide between visiting Naples or Rome for a solo trip (as the title suggests).

I'm 19F from England, and while I've travelled before, this would be my first time travelling completely solo. I'm planning to go for around 5 days in early August and will most likely be staying in a hostel, so any hostel recommendations or advice about hostel life would be really appreciated too.

The main reason I've narrowed it down to these two cities is because I'm really interested in history, and both seem to have so much to offer in that regard.I do plan to do which ever city i don't do at a later date.

I was wondering which city you'd guys would recommend for a first-time solo traveller. I'd also love to hear any general advice, experiences, or tips about either place(things like safety, historical sites, getting around, food, day trips, atmosphere, or anything else you think might be useful).

Thanks in advance!!! :)

dubai as a solo female traveler, late 20s?

hi, im planning on doing a trip to egypt and jordan and wanted to piggy back a dubai trip on top of it on the way home. the company i am looking at egypt with has a 5-day, 2.5k USD extension to dubai but i feel i can do better price wise alone than with a tour group. how feasible is dubai for a well-traveled woman in her late 20s? i would be solo, and usually in other countries ive met people to explore places with thru hostels. is there any hostel or tour guide community in dubai where someone in my age range would be ok going alone?

thanks in advance.

Recs for Vietnam Tours

I’d (26 F) like to travel to Vietnam in July for about 2 weeks but it’s my first time international solo traveling and I’m pretty overwhelmed with everything I could be doing.

Is there an inclusive tour that anyone would recommend?

I’d like to visit the islands/beaches, do some shopping/cafe hopping, sight seeing, and some city exploration.

My budget for the tour itself is around $500-$800.

I’d just like to hear about other people’s opinions on those guided tours and if they would recommend it to a first time solo traveler :)

Solo travel - plus size friendly destinations

Hi everyone! I’m (21F) looking at doing my first solo travel in November after wrapping up seasonal work. I’m open to any part of the world, but mainly looking at Central/Latin America. What travel destinations as a solo female was unforgettable? What made you feel safe? How were the people you met along the way?

I also am plus size, so hoping to go to a place where I’m not stared at like a zoo animal. Any other plus size solo travelers have any advice or recommendations?
It’s a fear of mine, as I also don’t want it to affect my safety/likelihood of being a “target”.

I plan to stay in a hostel, or locally owned airbnb depending on the location. I like socializing, hearing stories from locals, dining with strangers you meet at the restaurant, nightlife/bars, as-well as easy hiking & sightseeing to balance it out.

Solo travelling east Africa as a female?

Hello! I am thinking about backpacking East Africa, specifically Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Kenya. I have a couple questions for anyone that has backpacked this route or similar.

\-How did you feel safety wise?
\- was it easy to meet other travellers? How was the backpacking and hostel scene there?
\- is it easy to join budget group tours for things like safaris etc?

I would be looking to go either in December or January for 1-2 months.

Thank you!

Do you do girls trips?

Since its peak travel season, just wondering if any ladies on this sub do girls trips. I tried a couple of girls trips in my early thirties, a couple of weekends and decided they are not my thing. The first one had everyone wanting to do different things- one was too drunk to go out at night, another spent all evening playing video poker, and another did not drink. There was no confrontations, but the energy was off. I never saw them again. I still talked to one after, but I found out she did the same trip with different people and I was not invited. Just as well. So those friendships pretty much ended. They were not close friends, so no real loss. The second trip three of us got along well, but the fourth one was always primping and started crying during dinner over stupid guy stuff- she was divorced and in her forties acting like this. Decided after that, no more. I prefer traveling solo or with my husband. What are your experiences?

Are there two types of solo travellers?

I've been thinking about this lately. Like why do people say they're going for solo trip or they say "I'm a solo traveller"?

I've come to two thoughts -

  1. People who seek experiences.

  2. People who seek transformation.

I've also wondered why do people tend to take their first solo trip? Im very curious to know.

For those who have taken a solo trip:

  1. Why did you decide to go alone for the first time?

  2. What changed afterward, if anything?

  3. Were you seeking experiences, transformation, or a bit of both?

  4. If you had never taken that first solo trip, what would you have missed out on besides the destination?

Need Advice for buying low-cost flights.

This might be a bit of dumb question, but it’s my first time buying tickets to travel to Europe and I’ve heard that it’s better to travel with Ryanair (for example). I’ve read online about another airline but can’t remember the name now.
I’ve been checking their page, and it seems that there aren’t a flights everyday. To be more specific, I want to go from Madrid to Edinburgh and from there to Dublin, then back to Madrid.
Do you have any advice regarding low costs airlines? As in days available for flying, suitcase/carry-on, and stuff like that

Need to unwind after a hard year. Please suggest all-inclusive spas or resorts.

I've never done a spa or resort but had a hell of a year and very much need time away by myself. I'm thinking a 3- to 4-day stay in the U.S., Caribbean or Mexico. Prefer near the ocean and 100 percent recognize that some locations are miserably hot and humid in July. Budget $3K max. I couldn't care less about meeting other people and don't want anything strictly scheduled. I'd prefer the liberty to pick and choose what treatments and activities I want and when. Thank you.

Is Senegal safe to travel to as a solo female ?

i saw pictures of my mom's vacation for a week there and it made me want to visit the country also. she had a great time, but she stayed in a hotel and touristy places.

I'd like to visit a bit more, ad go to cities that aren't as well known as Dakar

I speak fluent french and i started learning wolof a month ago, i only know the basics.

I would love to have other people's opinions on travelling alone there from people who have done it ?

First Time

One of my goals when I turned 30 this year was to do a solo trip. I’m starting super small with basically 36 hours in NYC in late June. A friend was supposed to join me but it didn’t work out, giving me a little push to go on my own. I’ll fly in to LGA super early in the morning and am seeing Mariska Hargitay on broadway that evening. Staying about a 15 minute walk from the theater in Midtown. Then I’ll leave the following evening.

I’m a bit nervous about navigating everything by myself, and want to make sure I’m safe. My goal is to take the subway to and from the airport to save some money. any and all tips would be super appreciated!

29f first time travel tips to Mexico

I’m 29F and am planning to visit Mexico for 2 weeks in July. I have done plenty solo travel in the US but this will be my first time traveling out of the country and doing it alone and would like to get recommendations on things to do, where to stay and general safety recommendations for a single female traveling on a budget. I was hoping to cover Mexico City mainly for its architecture but absolutely open to other recommendations and places I can visit. Idk if it matters but I’m of south asian descent and plan to stay in hostels to extend my budget and wanted to know how safe they are. Thank you so much! Yall are so cool.
