Firefox using the most amount of Ram with more irregular jumps in CPU usage as compared to Chrome and Edge

https://preview.redd.it/1qe262n010kh1.png?width=2880&format=png&auto=webp&s=312a509c3d7db29eb28df9e8f6b667c08e8bcbe8

Same tabs on all three browsers playing the same video with the same extensions. Firefox consistently has higher ram usage (don't give me that unused ram is wasted ram) and has more jumps in CPU usage as compared to chrome and edge, with edge having minimal impact on performance (it's no secret). My question is, at what point did chrome overtake firefox in performance? Im lowkey a firefox glazer and exclusively use that (typing on it rn) but i'm kinda of surprised since this wasn't the case a few months ago.

Going to sleep now will reply tom. goodnight cuties :*

We need to have a discussion about Phone Link

Mods, please don't delete this. I am not seeking help, I'm trying to bring awareness.

When I first got my laptop and set everything up, phone link was working so perfectly. I used to get every app notification on my laptop screen, so much so that i started getting annoyed because of the less than important apps reminding me to waste my time using them. And every call was shown and transferred if i wanted it to be done so.

Over the past couple of months, i rarely ever get notifications at all. Even SMS and WhatsApp notifications are not being received. It honestly depends on it's mood. "Do i want my owner to have a normal day for once without making them lose their mind?" is a regular question it seems to be asking itself.

Calls are supposedly in exile. Nowadays, I never get notifications when I am getting a call, which becomes incredibly annoying when I'm not sitting with my phone or in the next room.

Just until last week or so, I'd at least be able to see the app notifications received if i opened the Phone Link App but now, it considers my device "Offline" even when my laptop and phone are connected via bluetooth and the app has all the requirements it needs and and then some. I simply cannot see anything going on in my phone if i do not actually reach out for it using my arms and hands.

And this is still okay if you don't consider the entire month when it literally could not recognize my phone, which it has been connected to since last year.

I am not asking for advice on how to make it work. I have done that multiple times which adds to my frustration: there is no permanent fix.

Initially, Phone Link got the job done albeit not with the best user experience but suddenly it has turned itself into a useless app that just sits on my tray doing nothing but sightseeing.

This is honestly just a plea to Microsoft to please, dedicate some resources into making the app experience better. I think we all deserve it.

Persistent right speaker distortion (590Hz–630Hz) on Yoga Slim 7—even after a full replacement.

Hey everyone,

I'm dealing with a highly specific and frustrating audio issue on my Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 (14ILL 10) and could really use some DIY troubleshooting ideas.

I am getting noticeable audio distortion/buzzing out of the right speaker, specifically in the 590 Hz to 630 Hz frequency range.

I already went through the warranty process, and a technician came out and replaced the faulty speaker module entirely. The issue is that the exact same distortion at the exact same frequency range is still happening with the brand-new speaker.

I really don't want to deal with the hassle of claiming another warranty and waiting on support again. Since a fresh component didn't fix it, I'm convinced this is a structural resonance or chassis tension issue rather than a blown speaker.

I’ve already tried:

  • Opening it up to check for loose mounting or misaligned components.
  • Slightly backing off/adjusting the chassis screws to see if relieving tension alters the buzz (it helps temporarily, but the frequency resonance returns).
  • Software-wise, I've already messed with drivers (including disabling Intel SST OED for other audio bugs), so I'm fairly confident it's physical.

Before I go crazy taping down components or modifying the internal casing, has anyone dealt with this specific frequency buzz on a Slim 7 or similar aluminum chassis? What are some safe, effective ways to dampen this kind of internal resonance without choking the thermals or speaker housing?

How to get rid of the tab container background colour in nova?

https://preview.redd.it/1s0kfl1zjigh1.png?width=1440&format=png&auto=webp&s=24a3de820f9af4840e87f71a18519b6608ef3ba8

I'm using the adaptive tab bar colour extension and it's ruining the immersiveness by colouring the tab container's background to a lighter shade. is there a way i can get rid of it?

It started happening after the browser was updated to the nova rainbow coloured tab container.

External Player worth it on PC app?

I've always used the default player for watching movies and shows and can't complain really. Just tried using VLC and noticed there was not significant but noticeable difference in color quality of the streams. Is it worth the hassle to always play videos in external player or not?

edit: i should add, i don't have nvidea control panel to work with since I don't have an nvidea gpu, still on windows.

Yoga Slim 7 Owners, does your laptop creak?

I have a slim 7i aura edition (14ILL10) and the underside has always been very very creaky ever since i bought it. When i remove the backplate, there is no creaking but as soon as it is put back, the creaking continues. I've lived with this but tbh its getting super bothersome to the point where its becoming a sort of a nuisance and is also making me question the laptop's build quality. Is this a backplate issue or like any other solutions for this?

Companies that ghost candidates can go fuck themselves

I hate the normalisation of ghosting job applicants at every stage but it's even worse when you think you had a good interview with a company you'd actually like working at, appear for an hour long interview, have nice conversation regarding background, work, job requirements and then take time out to complete their stupid long assignments that take up your whole 2 day weekend and then fucking ghost them out of the fucking blue with no replies to even follow up emails.

Seriously, fuck you and fuck your company.

How can I make my beard fuller on my cheeks?

i have never ever kept a beard. always clean shaven cuz I prefer it like that + my shape doesn't come nicely. I want to make it look fuller on the cheeks. Thinking of buying a beard trimmer and getting rid of the hair under the jaw and trim out everything on the sides and front to keep it even and slowly wait it out. will that work?

How far does background verification go? Very difficult to explain first job. 2+ YOE.

So basically, after college one of my relatives offered me a 6 month full-time internship at their company based out of US. After the 6 months of this internship, the relative (co-founder) calls me and tells me vocally to get serious cuz I am now converted into a full-time employee. I said fine sure and continued working there. After completing 11 months there including internship, i started looking for jobs and got one. During the interview i told them that i was an intern at the 1st org for 6 months and then working there permanently thereafter. They said cool and hired me.

When i asked for the experience letter and stuff from the first org, the HR (no HR per se but one of the upper management who also manages employees) said they have reached some threshold of 20 employees and are now awaiting their EPF registration so cannot hire permanent employees. I was kinda surprised cuz this co-founder relative said i literally converted into full-time and was working like that under the impression. But i said fine whatever just need experience letter. So now i have an experience letter that says i was working there for a year. But my role name there is '__ Trainee'. And i have written in my resume that i was working in Marketing (it's literally what i used to do there and my original role had no co-relation). I have two offer letters from the first company, one for the internship mentioning 6 months and second one which is an extension of 12 months to the 'Trainee' role, but now the role in that officially says the Marketing role i've put in my resume.

My relieving letter also has the '___ Trainee' name.

So basically what i want to ask is, is it possible that i can be on grounds of rejection based on this? How do i explain it in case they ask? should i continue with what i said for my previous company's interview? or is my 2nd year of actual 'lEgAL' employment is the only valid work experience?

It's worth noting that at my second employment i did really good work and was there for over a year, and i have accomplishments to show for it.

Its really annoying because i basically wasted 6 more months in the first company without even being permanent (where i was told directly by the co-founder/relative that i was permanent), being paid like shit, with not really amazing work.

And a bonus question: MBA colleges asking for employment proof involves what all proofs?

TL;DR: First company told me i was a permanent employee after 6 months of internship but on paper i wasn't, continued working for 6 months there unknowing of this. Second job has over 1.2 years of experience. Can i pass BGV?
