First egg retrieval results

I had my first egg retrieval yesterday. I only had two promising looking follicles but somehow they got three mature eggs. Today, though, I learned that only one fertilized successfully. Only time will tell how it works out.
I want to do more cycles to get more viable embryos but the odds don’t look good I am 43 with a rock bottom AMH so I don’t have high hopes or a lot of time but I don’t even know how our one opportunity will play out.
How does everybody move forward from frustration and disappointment?

How do people do this with a full time job?

I only have so much time off from work but they need me to go in for sonograms / ultrasounds and bloodwork what feels like all the time. I am in my first cycle, had an appointment last week, and two more this week! I had to take a whole day off for a hysteroscopy and I don’t even know what is coming next appointment-wise. I worry that my boss thinks I’m playing hooky and it will not be good for my career.

Do most women who go through IVF work full time? How do you manage with the busy schedule of appointments?

Just getting started, not feeling hopeful

My husband and I (married for two years) started seeing a fertility specialist in May. I am 43, he is 45, and neither of us have any previous children.

I have low iron despite daily supplements and my diabetes is only mostly controlled, my PCP switched me to a blood pressure medication that is supposed to be safe for pregnancy. All these things worry me if I do manage to become pregnant but getting pregnant in the first place worries me more. I guess my husband’s sperm is sort of funny shaped but that isn’t the big problem here, my AMH is 0.038 which seems crazy low. The doctor says it isn’t hopeless but I’m kind of feeling that way anyway.

I go for my first appointment tomorrow to start the hormones for egg retrieval. I am terrified of the process and even more terrified of it not working. How do people deal with this sort of anxiety?

Best beginner amigurumi patterns

My 10-year-old niece is coming to visit me next month and has expressed interest in making “little stuffies”. She has no prior experience with crochet but I think that it’s the best medium for the endeavor. I am reasonably experienced but not as a teacher. I have made many amigurumi in the past but am not always great at following patterns because I like to take creative license / make things up as I go.

Does anybody have recommendations for good starter amigurumi patterns? Something that is easy to follow and unlikely to frustrate a kid just learning?

Thinking about an electric SUV

I currently drive a 2015 Honda CR-V. I have AWD and live in a state that regularly sees snow and ice. My current car is experiencing problems and I’m wondering if it is time to upgrade. When we bought a new house recently, we got a car charger put in the garage with the expectation of eventually getting an EV.

I like the size and shape of my current car and want to get something with a similar feel but electric this time. My husband works for General Motors so I can get employee pricing on one of their vehicles. I am looking at a Chevy Equinox EV.

Does anybody have thoughts about this car and whether I should buy it?

Should I use an inheritance to pay down a joint mortgage?

My husband and I recently bought a house. We put 20% down so we do not have PMI and we currently owe about $340k at 6.375%.

My grandmother died last month and I am inheriting a portion of her Roth IRA. I understand that I don’t have to take distributions but I do have to empty the account within ten years. I don’t know the extract amount yet but I expect at least $100k.

I know this investment could continue to make money if left in the account but I also know that the mortgage account continues to accrue interest. Would it make sense to withdraw a chunk of the money to pay down our mortgage and reduce future payments? Or would I be giving up the possibility of making more money in the market?

Will I owe taxes on the money I get out of the account? Is there any benefit to waiting a few years?I am in my early forties and my tax bracket is not likely to go down in the next ten years if that is even applicable. I am in Michigan, if that makes a difference.
